Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram time

angiogram

Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
974371 tn?1424653129 Ok, I haven't even seen a cardiologist yet. Actually, I've had chronic mouth and throat problems no doctor is able to diagnose. In the mean time, I've been complaining of a *hard* heart beat for a while. My doc, as usual, attributes it to nerves. I mentioned it yet again so he finally sent me for a halter monitor and an ECHO treadmill stress test. I knew I didn't do to well on the stress test.
Avatar m tn i KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE ANGINA, BUT HAD A ANGIO A YEAR AGO AND WAS OK REGARDING BLOCKAGES VALVES ETC. AT THE TIME MY EF WAS BAD 15%, BUT WITH THE BP UNDER CONTROL IT CAME BACK TO 40%. FOR SOME MONTHS AFTER THIS MY EXERCISE WALKING TOLERANCE WAS OK. NOW I HAVE THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE AFTER WALKING HALF A KM . the cardio wants to do another angio? what is it? ANY IDEAS/ HELP?
Avatar n tn If there are blockages, a stent implant (usually done at time of angiogram) will increase the diameter of the occlusion/occlusions permitting more blood to the deficit area. Sometimes the area of blockage can not be stented because of location, tortuous segment, too long, etc...then a bypass surgical operation may be the only remedy. Alternatively, some people find relief from chest pain with medication.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar m tn However, I would also have a clear discussion with the cardiologist beforehand as to what will or will not also be done at that time. My angiogram led the cardiologist to say I need coronary bypass surgery, but neither surgery nor stents actually treat any cause of coronary artery disease. So before having stents to simply reduce angina, learn the things no cardiologist will tell you and consider an oil-free plant-based diet.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar n tn A CT angiogram is more sensitive than a straight forward angiogram. They both rely on a radioactive substance being injected into your blood stream and it's this which the scanners pick up. If a CT angiogram doesn't reveal a vessel, then no way will an angiogram. I had a vein that was closed after a bypass procedure and they looked for 30 minutes in a standard angiogram procedure to try and find it.
326176 tn?1239515689 Angiogram is still the best, but the CT is quite good.
Avatar f tn Hi my father had a bypass surgery on 2007 and he is well now his age 68 one month he had chest pain during night after taking food during sleep his angiogram report and digonsis says coronary artery disease ,triple vessel disease, s/p cabg -Lima to lad,svg to d1,d2 and pda-2006,good lv function, type2 diabetese mellitus systematic hypertension now effort angina class2 cag: native triple vessel disease, Lima to lad present, svgmild plaquing proximally, svg to d1 ,pda totally occluded contast incl
678571 tn?1228012270 I usually go to a cardiologist in another city. But my cardiologist could not perform my scheduled angiogram. My symptoms before this angiogram were chest pain with exertion of any kind. After this angiogram, I have had blood pressure problems, breathing problems, dry cough, shortness of breath and all the other symptoms that my cardiologist wanted me to do an angiogram for. He had said that if I needed an other stent put in. I would need a bypass even though I have small vessels.
Avatar f tn s father had had a CT angiogram and now the doctor wanted to do a cath angiogram. I meant to say and said the cath angiogram was unnecessary unless it was agreed and understood that there would in all probablity be angioplasty (stent, balloon) with a cath angiogram. there is a higher than expected probability there would be a stent implanted with a cath angiogram ...there are statistics available).
Avatar n tn I have no angina and excellent exercise ability. My cardio suggested to get an angiogram to see if it really blocked or just a false positive. I'm scared of the angiogram. Isn't the new 64 slice CT scan just as good to detect blockages as the invasive angiogram?
Avatar n tn I had congested heart failure 6 years ago, and at that time I had an angiogram and 1 stent. Currently, I have 100% blocked LAD and 72% blocked ICx. I have had 3 echos, 1 stress test, and 1 ct scan. Not necessary to have another angiogram. If you have chest pains or other symptoms that are heart related that can't be treated medically, the interventional cardiologist may advise an angiogram subsequent to a stress test that identifies any perfusion abnormalities.
Avatar m tn ve gotten something accomplished so why not put in a few stents (which have been called tiny ticking time bombs by some researchers). In anycase, the CT angiogram gives such a completely detailed picture of the heart from every angle and the cardiologist can even go inside of the arteries to see the plaque build up and see EXACTLY how blocked blocked the artery is. I was able to see everything on a computer screen, even my heart as it was beating.
Avatar n tn I have to have a valve replaced and am having an angiogram to see if there is blockage to be treated at the same time. The physician doing the angiogram has indicated he will put in a stent if he finds blockage. My feeling is that this is unnecessary as the major advantage of angioplasty (less invasive than bypass) is totally irrelevant since I'm having a valve replaced anyway. Thoughts?
Avatar n tn Doctor said that there could be a problem with heart walves so, he suggested to do Angiogram. Are there alternatives to do Angiogram? Is it really required to do Angiogram? Please advise. Thanks, Padma.
