Angiogram test recovery

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram test recovery

angiogram

Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn I would also look into getting a corneal topography and automated visual field test. A follow up flouresceine angiogram might also be useful. A good, general ophthalmologist should be able to help to see if treating the corneal surface or other problems might help. In some of these instances, I find that the membrane peel just didn't help that much but didn't make thngs worse either (if you really look very closely at the old records.
Avatar f tn A question like this is so very good at starting a debate and a discussion which brings out the personal preferences in people. My personal opinion is that angiograms are great for treating emergencies and opening larger arteries which are occluded. However, there is a large proportion of people who still seem to suffer angina after having PCI treatment and this isn't a short term thing for recovery.
Avatar n tn She gets sweating wlile walking app 200m distence for last 5-6 years. so her stress test was done. baseline ECG is normal. On Bruce protocol she could walk for upto 2 min on treadmill. There were no ECG changes during test, but during recovery phase she developed ST depression with T inversion in II, III, AVF , I, aVL and V2 to V6 for 10 min. She was not having chest pain at that time. She is undergoing Cor angio shortly. What is the probability that she can have Triple vessel disease?
Avatar n tn A carotid MRI showed that I have about 50 percent blockage. A stress test revealed an abnormal EKG, with about a 4mm drop in the curve between the pulses. I have a history of high cholesterol and am currently on a cholesterol reducing medication as well as a medication to reduce blood pressure. I was offered several options as the next step and opted for a CT angiogram.
Avatar m tn Hey All, I have had a quad bypass 6mths ago,as most know recovery is slow and i do not help it by trying to speed things up.After 4 mths i had chest pain and abdominal bloating and pain, hard to swallow and breathe, could not get a deep breathe(yawn if i could).Have had more tests than i like and guesses.Pain was so bad i went to ER and was given antibiotics for diverticulitus for a week to see if it helped. No change.
Avatar m tn People can have an reaction to the nuclear stress test. The test is not perfect. The only true test, which is a procedure, is the angiogram. My mom had the nuclear stress test and was told that it was not bad and a few months later she was totally plugged in two main arteries and about 99 percent plugged in the other. Have you had an echocardiogram yet? An echocardiogram can check the heart valves.
Avatar m tn Now Doctor has prescribed for Angiogram. He said he can suggest for treatment only after seeing the angiogram reports. Please help with your suggestion that whether we should go for angiogram. He is a diabetic patient since last 15 years and having high Blood pressure complaint since last 5 years.
Avatar m tn I had a triple bypass in Aug 2007....is there a test that would indicate how those grafts are holding up.
Avatar f tn She is currently in the hospital with more blockages. They are performing the angiogram now. She is 73 yrs old and still pretty spunky. My question is, will she need surgery again? And if so, what are the odds of the surgery being successful and making a full recovery?
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate in finding CAD whereas a angiogram is 100% accurate. The angiogram also carries a 1 - 3% risk of complications, the most common risk, although very rare, is having an artery dissected during the procedure which results in emergency bypass surgery. Having said that, if I was told I needed one I would do it without hesitation. It is the gold standard of heart tests to determine if CAD is present.
Avatar m tn My grandmother had a stress test done two months ago; she failed the stress test and was referred for angiogram the same day. She had multiple blockages at 90%, and was admitted to the hospital. She stayed in the hospital for 4 days, due to the doctors where afraid to release her home. She had a double bypass (left descending coronary artery and left circumflex coronary artery). She healed well, but 2 weeks ago while at home she experienced chest pain. She went by ambulance to the hospital.
Avatar f tn He has taken great care of his health with exercise and healthy vegetarian diet. He had a stress test done in 1994 that was positive. He is 73 now. He had a dobutamin stress echocardiogram and the Dr interpretaion is as follows: Patient had angina at peak stress; Max heart rate 126 BPM and B. P. 150/70 mm Hg noted at peak stress of 40 mcg/kg/min dobutamine + 0.3mg Atropin.
Avatar n tn H/O IWMI on 26/03/16. 2D echo showed 60% EF. Coronary angiogram revealed tVCAD with fair LV function. I want to know that his heart condition. Please reply me as soon as possible because my father does not feel well.
Avatar n tn You would need a stress test or a CT scan of your heart ( 64/128 Slice Coronary CT angiogram ). Make an appointment with a cardiologist. Why do you think you have a clogged artery?
Avatar f tn I was in ICU for congested heart failure that came about very suddenly without any symptoms prior. Given blood test, chest x-ray, EKG, echo and then a cath angiogram. The diagnosis was very little blood flowing to the distal portion of the heart. It was believed if the 98% blocked RCA was stented there would be more blood to that portion of the heart. The 100% blocked LAD had developed collateral vessels for a natural bypass, and circumflex is 72% blocked (no stent).
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
Avatar f tn My husband is 66 and recently had a SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Study (stress test). It was essentially normal, with the exception of the following: "there is a moderate sized reversible defect of the inferior and apical walls". The left ventricle was normal in size and the ejection fractions were 57% at rest and 63% post stress. The internet resources suggest that such a defect could be indicative of a prior silent heart attack. Is this true?
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
