776302 tn?1241091853 Thanks for the wonderful explanation. I don't want an invasive angiogram. I has slight chances of stroke, heart attack, irregular heart beat, etc. I don't even want the slightest chance of getting a stroke again. They are the scariest things I ever went through. Thank God I didn't get any permanent damage. So I will take the 64 slice CT scanner because it has no chances of getting a stroke, etc.
1213000 tn?1280463161 5 days after that angiogram I has a small stroke so we are now trying to sort that out. No hole in heart and the cateroids looked fine, no visualization of what caused the stroke so some fear for th future. Fingers crossed though that it was an annomoly.
Avatar m tn What can be ruled out with a ct angiogram? Can we see what the EF is ? Also can they find any abnormalities in the shap of the heart? And can they see any major valve regurgitatiOn? I'm concerned ? Because some people rather have a conventional angiogram and don't see a ct angiogram useful and I would like to know why??
Avatar n tn 41yr old female presents to stroke unit with left side arm/leg weakness. Physiotherapist not convinced it is a stroke. dragging left leg and left arm in a contracted position. C.T and M.R.I are negative, doplar also negative. Blood pressure and chlorestrol normal, however does have a raised E.S.R. Awaiting angiogram.
Avatar n tn an angiogram is the images taken using a catheter, injecting radio isotopes into the blood vessels to show up on an imaging system. As I've said before, all procedures carry some element of risk but some are obviously much lower than others. Angiograms are about the lowest you can get, but by law you have to be warned you could end up with a stroke or other organ damage if some plaque is knocked out of place.
Avatar m tn Conduction disease can be a result of a number of causes including coronary ischemia, medications, and/or underlying problems with the conduction system itself. Minimizing the risk of having a heart attack and/or stroke are targeted at maintaining good cardiovascular fitness -- including optimal BP, diabetes, and lipid control, avoiding tobacco use, and regular diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn s not a normal reaction to an angiogram. Possibly it has nothing to do with the angiogram. It might be something more or less unrelated. It kind of sounds like a migraine type of thing, on the face it. It could even be some type of reaction to relief of stress. We think of stress as being able to cause physical symptoms, and it certainly can, but sometimes just a sudden offset of stress can cause a reaction in the body.
Avatar m tn 7 montha ago I had an eye stroke. Had 3 surgeries to remove blood and reattachment of retina. Now poor vision and scar tisses built up. 1. Is surgery only option to remove tissues? 2.Could retina be detached again during surgery. 3.Would surgery help to improve the vision.

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested an Angiogram to make sure that something is not being missed. I am a little nervous and thought someone could answer some questions I have? 1. Is this a fairly safe procedure? 2. What are the risks? 3. Do all the serious risk only happen during the procedure? 4. What are the risk 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after the procedure, meaning how long before you know you are out of the risk zone? 5.

Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 42 year old male, generally in good heath and have had 4-5 tia episodes with most of the typical stroke symptoms. After running a ton of tests, all came back normal. The tenative diagnosis is BACNS, but they are not sure. I have not yet had a brain biopsy or a ct angiogram. I have been put on steriods and verapamil and have had no attacks in a month or so.
Avatar n tn There was sensitivity to light and some pain in the area of the left eye also. After having a cat scan of the head, chest cat scan and angiogram i was told there was nothing wrong. I am on high blood pressure medicine and they are trying to adjust that thinking that might be the problem. At one point the heart rate dropped to 39. At one point the top part of the heart was not pumping in sink witht he bottom part. Anyone have any ideas of what this might be?
17389007 tn?1456248518 I just cannot bring myself to do the angiogram. I believe I had a silent heart attack or stroke in Sept. 2014 when I asked to be lying down for an IV and he said, "Don't worry, we'll catch you. I vomited until dry heaves, I couldn't talk, and I felt my face was drooping. I had to be wheeled out backwards because for the first time ever, I had motion sickness going forward. I had to be carried upstairs. It took 4 blankets, a heating pad and 5 hours before I got warm.
Avatar n tn I,M AFRAID OF HAVING A STROKE AND HAVE EXPRESSED THIS TO HIM . MY INSURANCE CO. REFUSES TO PAY IF HE WANT ORDER THE TEST.
Avatar f tn There is a risk with anyone getting a heart attack or having a stroke during an angiogram because of the reasons you state. Perhaps there was a note from a previous procedure saying you had plaque in your femoral artery or in your left main stem. If this is the case, then the risk is obviously higher. The majority of people have a clear run up to the coronary arteries, and the catheter doesn't have to be put very far inside these to obtain images.
Avatar n tn intense, throbbing pain in left eye that moved to include her whole left side, confusion, loss of memory, motor impairment, and extreme fatigue and weakness. CT scan showed seizure activity, but MRA and MRA came back negative for stroke. She was sent home after 2 days and a physical therapist was sent to the house to help her recuperate her motor skills and strength. She did not improve in these areas, nor did her memory improve.
Avatar f tn my Dad is 67 years old and had memory loss ,slurred speech due to two little block in brain and blockage in internal carotid artery . The doppler study and MRI A angiogram showed 100% blockage of left internal carotid artery. The right artery had 30% 40% of block. His colateral blood is normal. he had diabeties and Bp for the past 1 1/2 years. he got blood supply through right arteries..
Avatar n tn I had an angiogram 7 weeks ago with no sign of blockages, yet I am in constant pain, which worsens when I try to lift. I cant even walk fast and am exhausted, dizzy and nauseated. I had only chest tightness and and mild pain before the test, but was exercising and working, now I am leaving the house only to go to Dr.s appointments.
Avatar n tn Please consult a cardiologist and neurologist as soon as possible to go through all the investigations like Computerized tomography(CT scan), MRI scan, MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram), Computerized tomography with angiography, Conventional angiogram, Carotid Doppler ultrasound, Heart tests and Blood tests to detect inflammation of the arteries. Please take treatment to avoid stroke according to your risk factors. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
678571 tn?1228012270 I usually go to a cardiologist in another city. But my cardiologist could not perform my scheduled angiogram. My symptoms before this angiogram were chest pain with exertion of any kind. After this angiogram, I have had blood pressure problems, breathing problems, dry cough, shortness of breath and all the other symptoms that my cardiologist wanted me to do an angiogram for. He had said that if I needed an other stent put in. I would need a bypass even though I have small vessels.
Avatar n tn Though they are of no immediate threat, all these causes, and the presence of ischemic changes can be a risk factor for future stroke. Hence, prevention methods should include a healthy lifestyle, and a combination of diet, exercise, and medicines. Please discuss with your treating doctors. Take care!
