Angiogram of upper extremity

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram of upper extremity

angiogram

Avatar f tn In this there is pressure on the brachial plexus (bundle of nerves and blood vessels in the armpit) and the subclavian artery and this can compress or irritate these structures and cause symptoms such as abnormal sensation, cold extremity, claudication (pain), and lymphedema (swelling of lymph channels), discoloration (bluish or red if veins are pressed) in the involved extremity. Usually this affects only the upper limbs or arms.
Avatar f tn There's a reason why CAD is the silent killer. The short answer is you usually have both: stress test first, and based on the stress test results (physical performance which may result in chest pain, EKG, and ECG). Any negative results would prompt the angiogram. But how do you get to the stress test......follow me....... I'm a 48-yo long distance cyclist and have been for the last decade. A typical weekend bike ride is about 60 miles with longer bike rides being 375 miles.
Avatar n tn A year later patient reports bilateral upper extremities weakness, pain, paresthesia with touch and proprioception symptoms as well as shooting pain and weakness on extension of arms. Patient reports bilateral medical elbow pain and inability to hold even lightweight items with arms extended Unfortunately, patient reports bilateral lower extremity “deep ache” and “heavy feeling” as well as bladder and bowel changes.
Avatar m tn I am looking for the chain of events that ultimately results in the disposal of the extravascular iron deposits resulting from a simple bruise of the upper extremity. Hemosiderin, a globular protein, the primary Fe store must be denatured in some way to release the stored iron. Just unclear as to how the iron is released and how it is cleared from the extravascular space.
Avatar m tn When this muscle shortens, this can press on brachial plexus a(bundle of nerves and blood vessels in the armpit) and the subclavian artery and can compress or irritate these structures and cause symptoms such as abnormal sensation, cold extremity, claudication, and lymphedema (swelling of lymph channels) in the involved extremity. This is a major cause of TOS or thoracic outlet syndrome. The other possibility is a boil or abscess with infection of the surrounding skin.
Avatar f tn It has more to do with your insurance. Some PTs are afraid of going over a certain amount of sessions because of fraud. I am sure your doctor could order more. They way the insurance thinks about it is you get so many sessions the you take a break. Then you show decline and then you get more sessions. I would still fight it.

Avatar n tn I am a 60 yr old female. In Sept of 2008 I got up in the morning and was unable to hold anything in my left hand. Initial diagnosis was "brain or neck tumor". Clear MRI's of head and neck, negative subsequent spinal tap, upper extremity arteriogram, TWO emg's, blood tests for lyme disease, lupus, ALS, syphillis, etc., rheumatoid arthritis. Joints of left hand have frozen now and are unbendable. Left radial nerve biopsied and shows nerve degeneration.
Avatar m tn My test results were sent to an upper extremity specialist who reviewed the results and sent me for an MRI of my arm. After the upper extremity specialist reviewed my arm MRI results he said there was nothing he could do (no blockage to operate on). He referred me to a neurologist and hand therapist (to have a brace made and to do physical therapy). In the meantime I've suffered significant pain snd missed 2 months from work due to the pain meds.
Avatar n tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred chest, inner lining of scapula, shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. When this muscle shortens, this can press on brachial plexus and the subclavian artery and can compress or irritate these structures and cause symptoms such as abnormal sensation, cold extremity, claudication, and lymphedema in the involved extremity.
Avatar f tn I get paresthesia, numbness, and spasms right above my braline. I have several 'subtle' lesions in my upper spine and one at T10. They cause most - probably all - of my lower extremity symptoms. It doesn't bother me unless I forget to take my Baclofen.
Avatar f tn Do they have a good hand or upper extremity doctor in Canada? Sounds like this is nerve related. I had this problem for a while and my nerve conduction study was normal, although I knew something was wrong. Mine was not nearly as bad as yours sounds but it did go away on its own. However maybe seeing a neurologist or an upper extremity surgeon would help give you more answers.
Avatar m tn Hi, a CT angiogram is noninvasive as compared to the traditional angiogram and is usually the preferred mode of investigation. CT angiograms will expose you to a small amount of radiation. If you have known coronary artery disease, a traditional coronary angiogram may be a better option, since you can also receive treatment for your artery blockages during a traditional coronary angiogram.
Avatar f tn I am having pulsating in upper tummy would an angiogram show your aorta
Avatar n tn My husband has pain in his right leg,the vien is very thick, and very painful. It started down near his ankle and moved about 2 inches we went to the doc. and she sent him for an ultra sound. They said it was a superficial thrumbosis, well as it moves it starts out as very red then turns brownish, you can see where it started he has been to a specialist, they had him on asprin, didn't work, they had him on steroids, didn't work know they have him on tylenol w/codine and of course not working.
Avatar f tn Now, slightly more then 20 years later, I still have some remaining numbness in much of my hand and parts of my upper and lower arm. The entire extremity does fatigue very quickly when working although I seem to continue on without much hindrance. More of an annoyance then anything else. Marijuana, which I rarely smoke, is the quickest and most effective relief for any pain. The first four months after surgery were extremely painful and it took about a year for most of the recovery.
Avatar n tn It occurs less often in men. The patient complains of swelling of the foot, leg, or entire extremity. On examination, the edema is diffuse, causes a typical mound on the dorsum (back part) of the foot or hand, and is only partially pitting (compressible). There are usually no skin changes in the acute period and the veins are not distended. When lymphedema is due to infection, the response to antistreptococcal antibiotics is rapid.
Avatar m tn I am a 70 year old male. 17 years ago had angiogram/plasty which went badly resulting in emergency bypass . 8 years ago had heart attack, treated with 3 days on heparin. 4 years ago had partial colectomy and 6 months chemo. Have peripheral neuropathy in legs and hands from FOLFOX. For the last 6 months I have been very fatigued after little exercise. Mostly sedentary and 30 lbs overweight. Blood pressure good but slow pulse and can't take beta blockers.
Avatar f tn link next to the yellow button icon in the upper right part of this page. There are numerous plain-English explanations of the processes, challenges, and diagnosis of this monster that so many among us have come to know. There are other pages there (and people here) to remind you that an MS diagnosis is not only survivable, if it is accurate it is the first step to beginning treatment with the most advanced medicines available. Let us know how we can help.
847433 tn?1243009652 I am still having difficulty finding the source of all the lower extremity weakness that I had, it started in 3/09 and one day i just basically couldnt walk. But all of my surgeons for some reason dont think that the cervical injuries are causing with lower extremity problems?? omg i dont know. Thankfully over the past almost 2 months now, I have been able to walk again and the muscle weakness and paresthesias are relenting.
Avatar f tn Was the angiogram a CT scan? It seems if the angiogram was a cath intervention through the coronary vessel a stent implant would have been done at the time to save money and reduce the risk?! Generally a lesion greater than 70% and medication doesn't relieve symptoms, then a stent implant. Sometimes a stent implant is not an option due to location, etc. and a bypass may be the only option.
Avatar f tn After the first incident I had left sided weakness in my upper extremity only; however, after this seconded incident, I have weakness in the upper and lower extremities to the point of being on a walker. There was no change apparent via CT scan or MRI after either occurrence. Is it possible that I am having cerebral spasms? I have already been diagnosed with severe coronary spasms (I had to be shocked during one episode).
847433 tn?1243009652 All symptoms in cervical area to be expected, pain in neck radiate scapula, radiculopathy bilateral into thumb and index fingers. NEVER HAD upper extremity weakness that I was aware of . bilateral numbess in hands. 2 cervical epidurals - improvement about 60%. EMG/NCS of cervical confirmed radiculopathy and mild bilateral carpal tunnel. QUESTION: Why wont my md's concede this is from my injury in the cervcial area.
