Avatar f tn Can this cause scar tissue and or cause any further damage to the heart or vessels? I am 37yrs old with Diabetes of 33 years. No high BP and kidney function is well.
654298 tn?1230403407 Aside from these, a series of laboratory and X-ray tests, as well as an EKG, will be completed to screen for kidney function, liver function, hepatitis, heart disease, lung disease and past exposure to viral illness. Urine testing will also be done to make sure that your kidneys function normally. In addition, medical clearance for pre-existing conditions, will need to be submitted to the living donor team for review. Other tests may be necessary depending on the results of these studies.
Avatar n tn [49] Metformin is recommended to be temporarily discontinued before any radiographic study involving iodinated contrast agents, (such as a contrast-enhanced CT scan or angiogram), as the contrast dye may temporarily impair kidney function, indirectly leading to lactic acidosis by causing retention of metformin in the body.[50][51] Metformin can be resumed after two days, assuming kidney function is normal.
Avatar f tn Generally, for discussion only, and not any advise, you may want to forgo an angiogram and stent implant. The basis would be improved symptoms, as the degree of physiologic response to luminal dimensional change may be assessed by correlation of exercise capacity (your symptoms improved by exercise testing?) with quantitative measurements of the obstruction diameter at the lesion sites.
Avatar n tn A color dopplar or an angiogram is able to diagnose the clots and deep vein thrombosis. Lipid profile, liver function tests, pancreatic enzymes, blood sugar, platelet count, kidney function tests are a few things you should check for. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I assume your kidneys are working to some degree now or you wouldn't be alive to write about it. If kidney function is compromised, yes, it can affect the other body parts. Do you have high BP? A friend of mine had high BP, didn't like taking the meds. He ended up with kidney failure, managed to get a transplant that eventually failed, got a second transplant and recently died of a heart attack.
Avatar n tn my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.
Avatar f tn We took him for a check up to the cardiologist he has been seeing as he seemed to be a bit out of breath and have since found out his heart function is 30%. When tested 3 years ago it was 43%. The dr has changed his medication, put him on a meta blocker and lasix and said to give the medication 3 months and will see the dr in 3 months time. Since my Dad has been taking the new medication he is worse ( more out of breath) Help me please... I dont know what to do?
Avatar f tn I'm a 43 yr old female. I've had cancer 3 times. Had my left kidney removed 6 yrs ago but, I'm healthy otherwise. I have suddenly started having shortness of breath from walking up stairs or just picking something up. A high resting heart rate from 91-135. During my EKG it was 115. I've also had a cough for about 5 months that has occurred more often as time has gone on. I had a ultra sound done of my heart.
Avatar n tn doctor asked to take an angiogram .is there anything to fear ,since father says he doesnt feel any fatigue or breathlesness .but sometimes after 1 month he says he is feeling little brethless sometime .please clarify me about the nature of disease.
Avatar n tn s case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. And we all know how that one goes--there is a shortage of transplantable kidneys and they go to the people who have been on the list the longest. So get to a kidney doctor now!
Avatar n tn First of all, given you have no symptoms and your heart pumping function (ejection fraction) is normal, you don't have much to worry about. A fixed defect on a stress test often means there was a heart attack in that area in the past, though not always. It could just be artifact, especially in the territory you describe, so it may be nothing. Reversibility does suggest ischemia, or poor blood flow to an area of the heart which is still alive.
Avatar f tn Plavix is to be taken with precaution in presence of kidney problems. Cozaar is to be avoided or taken with extreme precaution in CHF. This along with low blood pressure could have prompted your PCP to stop these drugs. For a person to have an angiogram he should be medically in a condition to tolerate the procedure and the dye used. Before doing an angiogram the doctors will do an EKG, an echocardiogram and/or chest X-rays. This is a tough situation.
Avatar f tn Did they test your sodium level in your blood or a 24 hour urine test for sodium? What about testing your thyroid function & ADH or antidiuretic hormone, which helps regulate water in your body? Did they do a color doppler on your legs to test circulation? Peripheral vascular disease can affect extremities with pain and swelling. My grandma had PVD. Your heart's okay you say, but what about your triglycerides and cholesterol levels?
Avatar m tn BP can also go to higher side after a physical activity like climbing stairs, running etc and this comes back to normal after rest. It can also be to due to anxiety and stress. Hence careful tests like kidney function test, stress test or treadmill test, ECHO, EKG, BP monitoring, and complete hormonal profile needs to be done. I understand most of these test have been done.
Avatar n tn in 2009 my b/p went up never had it b/f always on the low side. lab work showed egfr at 58 so Dr did a CT Angiogram which showed a 60 percent kidney artery blockage. I went to a vascular surgeon who said I shouldn't have had the contrast dye but too late for that now also said blockage wasn't nearly bad enough. Went back to my Dr he did more labs creatnine was 1.5 and egfr had dropped to 46. I had been taking lisinipril too. He took me off that and put me on Clonidine 3 X a day!
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Avatar n tn H/O IWMI on 26/03/16. 2D echo showed 60% EF. Coronary angiogram revealed tVCAD with fair LV function. I want to know that his heart condition. Please reply me as soon as possible because my father does not feel well.
Avatar f tn Appropriate augmentation of contractile function in all visualized segments on stress first pass acquisition. His HR reached 169, BP reached 142/92 in the 7.5 min test. Thoughts? Cardiologist ordered angiogram for this Friday.
