angiogram

Avatar n tn An angiogram can be with a cath (invasive...probe the coronary arteries) or an angiogram can be the Modern CT angiograms that uses multiple detectors to capture images from different rotations of the CT scanner. These machines use 64 detectors or scanners which helps in reducing the scanning time and increases the efficiency to a high level. There may be a slight risk of cancer due to excessive exposure to radiation. But the advantage of a correct diagnosis outweighs this risk.
Avatar n tn s case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar n tn I waited on my fiancé during his angiogram, 1 hour of waiting and 3 hours of supervising from the nurses then home we went
Avatar f tn For a person to have an angiogram he should be medically in a condition to tolerate the procedure and the dye used. Before doing an angiogram the doctors will do an EKG, an echocardiogram and/or chest X-rays. This is a tough situation. Your husband needs to be evaluated simultaneously by the cardiologist and kidney specialist. Maybe he can be admitted for a day or two for complete evaluation. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar n tn the symptoms of headache and so on resolve, and the blood vessels return to normal. An angiogram is necessary to make the diagnosis, but additional testing that could be used in follow-up include a CT angiogram and a transcranial doppler (TCD) which is less invasive.
Avatar n tn My father had a ct scan of the heart today and was told that calcium deposits were found. He also was told that his kidneys are not functioning properly so a previous scheduled angiogram was not performed. What causes the calcium deposits and how serious of an illness is this for him? He is 65 yrs old and never asks questions.
Avatar n tn In Aug of 2007 I had an angiogram and found out I had 5 seperate narrowings of 30 and 40 percent in my LAD and RCA. For about a month I went on a strict diet and walked a few miles every day. Then depression set in and I went on a year long ( on and off , not every week ) cocaine and depression binge. I stopped eating low fat and ate whatever I wanted at times and other times I was restrained. 2 weeks ago I went for a CT angiogram and today I got the news that my blockages are now 70 and 50.
Avatar n tn A bit of a vague report, but a follow up with the cardiologist to discuss the results should make things clearer. If you have no follow up, it might be an idea to make one. The Left anterior descending "shows plaquing" is not very detailed is it. To what extent is it plaquing. There is a blockage of 70-80% in the diagonal one, which comes off the LAD.
Avatar m tn m sure if the LCx was opened, you should develop more collateral feeds. The OM1 comes off the Lcx anyways. None of the other blockages seem overly large to me.
Avatar m tn This is angiogram showing aorta, its branches and renal arteries and kidney outlines are seen. renal vessels provide blood supply to the kidneys.
Avatar m tn I also do drink beer everyday, average 7-8 and sometimes around 12 or more, when this started I have been notcing that the beer taste really weird also. I wasnt have as severe as the symptoms when I had the blood drawn as I am now, the blood test was 2 days ago, and my BUN is normal but the didn't test for my creatinine levels. Could my BUN have been normal and still have kidney disease or failure, and also no protein was found in my urine, soo......????
Avatar f tn ) with quantitative measurements of the obstruction diameter at the lesion sites. The extent of quantitatively assessed luminal stenosis has been shown to be directly related to the degree of impairment of coronary perfusion. There is a linear relationship between exercise capacity and severity of stenosis before your stenosis intervention. Sometimes, with a diabetic, there is no angina with ischemia so that should be a consideration. The Dr.
Avatar n tn No. Your artery lining will grow new cells through the mesh of the stent. My stents are very hard to spot on an angiogram now.
Avatar n tn Santos, its looking like I have Lyme Disease or MS, the Cardiac issues were just the start of the problems. I have significant neurological issues going on and only by chance saw a Radiologist who clued in that the other symptoms were indicative of a CNS issue. Advanced Lyme Disease can cause Heart Arythmia''s I am told. Thank you for asking I really appreciate it, and was only too happy to contribute to your forum.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
Avatar n tn I've had numbers of problems with my kidneys in the past. In 2007 I had kidney failure and never went to see a doc due to not having insurance. I now have a heart murmur. I went to see my primary doc to see if i should get an agiogram, he said not to go now but wait till you get insurance and get it done. I wont have insurance for another 2 years due to pre-existing conditions. Im worried that I may in fact have a coronary block and should go get it looked at.
Avatar n tn If needed, they can also measure the pressures in the valves during the angiogram. If you feel you have symptoms of blocked arteries, you should see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Except for a minor pricking from the injection of painkiller at the top of the leg I felt nothing whatever, watched the arteries moving on the screen and talked to the doctor while he was maneuvring around them.. As it happened, a stent was put in but again, I felt nothing. I was in truth a bit uncomfortable afterwards when the anesthetic (which is only given to avoid discomfort at the entry point) wore off but I asked for a painkiller and calmed down. Go ahead. Have no fear.
Avatar n tn Since posting, my new preventative Cardiologist, said that it could have been a misread pre existing stent, and he said I should get the blood test reports from the hospital and Cardiologist that did the Lexi Scan Dec 3, to see if my enzymes had changed for the worse during that period of time, and to him the would be the golden plate, that if my enzymes were stable I most likely didn't have a heart attack. If they were up I did have a mild heart attack.
Avatar n tn Her cretanin level is very high and her kidney is 60% damaged, there is also water retention in her lungs, so they said that taking an angiogram test would be risky, as it will damage the kidney further. So right now they are just keeping her on meds in ICU ( for the last 3 days), she is also put on oxygen and sometimes ventilator. I am worried that she is not getting the right treatment, is it wise not to go for an angiography?
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Metformin Contraindications Metformin is contraindicated in people with any condition that could increase the risk of lactic acidosis, including kidney disorders (creatinine levels over 150 μmol/l (1.7 mg/dL),[47] although this is an arbitrary limit), lung disease and liver disease. According to the prescribing information, heart failure, in particular, unstable or acute congestive heart failure, increases risk of lactic acidosis with metformin.
1690772 tn?1325629867 i had signs of angina but got told i didnt have it had loads of test then the angiogram all came back clear but around 6~8 months but a different doctor sent me a letter saying the left ventrical blood flow is slow and need to go on beta blockers?
Avatar m tn The CT scan indicates there is substanital soft plaque buildup within the linings of the vessels. A couple of years ago, my total CT score was/is over 1000 and that is supposed to indicate a high probability for a heart event within a year....waiting for the other shoe to drop!...no problems, feel fine.
