Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram for leg

angiogram

Avatar f tn I had an angiogram on 12/27/12. Since having my leg is hurting in the thigh area and in the groan area. Put ice on groan area and heating pad on thigh. Called hospital where procedure was done, said this is normal. When I walk I am limping. Really painful. IS THIS NORMAL. this is my first angiogram. Worried about clotting in the leg.
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar n tn You could ask for a ct angiogram if you are worried, which is basically a non invasive scan. However, to answer your questions, the angiogram is very safe as far as invasive procedures go. The biggest risks are stroke and heart attack, but for this to happen the cardiologist would basically have to disturb a chunk of blockage material in the arteries with his catheter wire. It isn't really about odds, are you the likely or unlikely odd?
Avatar m tn By far the most difficult part of it is not moving your leg afterwards for a few hours. Proceed with great confidence.
Avatar n tn They did the angiogram because of an abnormal stress echo. Would taking ibuprofen contribute to the bruising?
Avatar f tn However, the Dr. refuses to take responsibility for this. My dad is in a great deal of pain, his leg is cold to the touch and he continues to get weaker. He has been on pain meds, tried acupuncture and recently seen a neurologist. The neurologist has said there is nothing that can be done and he will just have to live with it. I was wondering if either of you have found any type of relief or anything that could be of help. I look forward to hearing from you.
Avatar n tn When l had an angiogram, l ended up with a large blood clot, in the top of my leg, which l later had to have removed, in order to save my life. Can l take any action against the person that did the original angiogram?
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
974371 tn?1424653129 Ok, I haven't even seen a cardiologist yet. Actually, I've had chronic mouth and throat problems no doctor is able to diagnose. In the mean time, I've been complaining of a *hard* heart beat for a while. My doc, as usual, attributes it to nerves. I mentioned it yet again so he finally sent me for a halter monitor and an ECHO treadmill stress test. I knew I didn't do to well on the stress test.
Avatar n tn This month I have been extremely fatigued and have had some chest pain. I had a EKG, Cardiolite Stress test, and now am scheduled for an angiogram. They tell me that everything seems normal, but a concern of a low ejection fraction and wall motion abnormality (expulsion of 45%). What will they be looking for with the angiogram?
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar n tn My brother-in-law had a bypass and leg swelling was the right leg. That was the leg of the harvested vessels. The swelling problem seems to be common, however, you may want to contact your father's doctor for confirmation.
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
Avatar f tn Heat radiating in the calf especially after a knee surgery could be due to clots in the deep veins of the calf or deep vein thrombosis. A duplex ultrasound or angiogram is required for diagnosis. Please consult a vascular specialist. This may need further treatment with medication and maybe even surgery. Please get this evaluated fast. Take care!
Avatar m tn My husband had an angiogram days before Christmas they placed a stint in his left leg. for a few weeks, things seem to be fine, the color in his legs was looking better .Then a few days ago his right leg starts hurting to the point he can't walk then the swelling starts up his leg and spreads to the other leg and the groin. He had ultrasounds done and it;s not DVT. He was admitted to hospital where they gave him antibiotics to treat an infection and then discharged him a few days later.
Avatar f tn I had an angiogram 5 days ago, the first two days I couldn't move my leg too much, the 3rd day I was much better, 4th and 5th day (today) I have quite a bit of pain in the groin area, all around the site of the angiogram, quite a bit of bruising which I was expecting, but I don't know if this is normal or if I should go see a Dr.? The pain is not there all the time only with movement, ie. walking or standing even, if I just lay down it is not painful.
Avatar f tn As well, I have had before some tingling sensations on my right hand side of my head and in my leg. These tingly sensations i have had off and on for about a year now though. But after this test they are worse, mostly the tinglies on my right side of my head, along with the headaches that are all right sided as well. A few days ago as I closed my eyes to kiss my husband no less I saw this huge z shaped bright light even as my eyes were closed. I opened and it was gone.

Avatar m tn If you want my truthful opinion, I would go for the angiogram. This is because of two things. First the there are risks, but driving a car carries risks, as does crossing the road. Life is full of risk. However, the risk for Angiogram is tiny. Let's say you go for the CT-64 slice, which my Cardiologists have all hated, and they find that there is a blockage which warrants further investigation, you will still need an angiogram after.
776302 tn?1241091853 I had an angiogram yesterday and vomited when the dye was injected going all hot and funny for about 5mins. I also found the whole procedure quite painful. The next day I felt fine until after lunch when again I felt sick and dizzy. Did I have a reaction to the dye or am I hyper sensitive?
Avatar f tn i had an angiogram 18 months ago and ever since have had right groin, leg and tummy pain limited mobility cant walk easily ,lift leg, ruling my life a scan and nerve conductuion test both fine
976897 tn?1379167602 You are absolutely correct that most patients have the option of having coronary angiography performed from either the femoral (leg) or radial (arm) artery access sites. For the femoral site, the catheter is introduced via a sheath in the femoral artery, and is advanced up the abdominal aorta, over the aortic arch, and dye is then injected into the coronary arteries. For the radial site, the right radial artery is most often used.
Avatar n tn the worst part in my case, is if you have any kind of back problem , having to stay on my back and keeping the leg straight for 6 or more hourse was the real problem. For the next 3 days I had a bad back pain, and ended up in the ER with severe neck muscle spasms. ( But I allready have pre-existing back pain , chronic that I take Methadone for, and the Methadone did nothing for this pain.) Remember, I may be the exception to the rule. Good luck if you decide to have the test.
Avatar f tn I would consider having an Angiogram, but through your arm and not the leg artery. You have some calcium showing up on the ct scan of which I will translate for you. Halfway down your left main coronary artery (LAD) you have suggested moderate sized blockage due to the calcium detected. The word 'luminal' is in reference to the open space in the artery which blood flows through.
Avatar m tn Many cardiologists seem to prefer angiogram. I've had both a ct angio and an angiogram and I didn't feel any difference between the two. I still had the same burning sensations from the dye etc in both procedures. I did look at the images from both scans and the angiogram shows everything in real time, actually working. You see the blood flowing, you see the heart pumping and you see the reactions of the arteries. With the ct angio all I saw was a set of still pictures.
Avatar f tn I had an angiogram done on 2/18/09. I was told I would be put to sleep but was not. So I felt everything. The pressue put on my groin after was extremely painful! I had to stay in the hospital overnight because after they took the cath out my blood pressure dropped. I went home in dire pain. Today is the 17th and while I still have a bit of pain in my groin area, the REAL pain is when I have a BM or I urinate. Is this unusual?
