1145423 tn?1261404857 They then plan to do the angiogram 4 days later tentivly. its after the angiogram we talk surgery right. and one more thing. I have been experiencing painbehind and on my eyes and sometimes my vision just dims...like sombody is dimming the lights. is this normal.
Avatar m tn We recommend for this patient to undergo coiling of the intradural segment of the left vertebral artery, in order to exclude the dissecting aneurysm from circulation. Effectively they will block off the left vertebral artery and just left the right vertebral artery supply blood to the brain.. does that sound bad?
Avatar f tn Is it really necessary for me to have an angiogram after finding out I have small aneurism in my head? The aneurism is 3 mm, I am a healthy 37 year old female. Should I get a second opinion? It really seems unnecessary for me to have a cath and camera into my brain for an aneurism they say is small and not to worry about it???
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a 4mm cerebral aneurysm and just went for angiogram ct and I am waiting the results I am a nervous wreck. I was also diagnosed with chiari and cervical disc disease . How do they treat cerebral aneurysms ?
Avatar n tn I would strongly suggest an urgent neurosurgical evaluation. You would need a CT/MRI brain and angiogram to confirm the diagnosis. Surgical clipping and coiling are the proposed surgeries. Wish you all the best and take care.
Avatar m tn He was admitted in hospital due to fever where aneurysm may have potentially ruptured, seized for 3 hours, lot of blood in his brain, went through coiling surgery, had 2 angioplasty to control cerebral vasospasm. As of today he is moving his right part of the body, left side, off the ventilator(breathing by himself) still cannot track us with eyes, not sure if he can hear....Any insights or expert prognosis is appreciated....
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
Avatar m tn I had a aneurysm coiling and stent once and then a second coiling a month later because the hospital had to order more coils due to the size of the aneurysm (big one). It has been almost one year six months and I still suffer from very extreme headaches. I have seen the best that Mayo has to offer and no help. At this point I have asked to have the coiling removed as it is up against my brain stem and did not shrink as they had hoped after the surgery.
Avatar n tn clipping, a surgical procedure in which the skull is opened (craniotomy) and the aneurysm is surgically ligated, and coiling, an endovascular procedure in which an angiogram is done through a vessel in the groin, and coils are placed in the aneurysm in order to make it close off. Each of these procedures have its indications and complications, and it is best to discuss these with the neurosurgeon.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with a posterior intracerebal aneurysm , i am awaiting a coiling treatment, since last night i have been suffering a headache , stiif neck and a bit nauseous, the headache is more like having a bad hangover, like my head is being squeezed in a vice , should i attend the emergency dept ?
Avatar m tn Thanks for yr reply but my question was to do with my catheter pulling out of the peritoneum and coiling under the skin and therefore stopping the draining from shunt. I am trying to find out how this can happen?
6473455 tn?1381627629 I am an active 66 year old male and have a dilemma in that I need knee replacement surgery but recently found that I have an 11mm wide necked saccular aneurysm in my left carotid artery (during a routine MRI). An eminent Australian neuro-surgeon has recommended that I have coiling of the aneurysm and stenting to hold the coil in place, to deal with this.
Avatar f tn had coiling embolisation done with stent due to an unruptured aneurysm on the right ICA. returned to hospital afterwards due to TIA symptoms and was given Lipitor as cholesterol level was borderline and given just to make sure that it is not causing the "mini-stroke". I have been given Plavix and aspirin from the onset and I am still on it.
Avatar f tn An MRA is magnetic and has no xray or radiation involved. A CT angiogram has the radiation involved of about 50-100 xrays. And a regular angiogram has the equivalent radiation of 500+ xrays. He is going to do the least invasive right now which is the MRA. If he finds a definite change he will then go to the conventional angiogram that goes up through a catheter in the groin. I actually had a carotid aneurysm which resulted in two mini strokes I didnt even know I had and Im only 52.
Avatar n tn You must phone the particular Dr who did the brain surgery or the coiling or the wrapping or the onyx treatment. There are many treatments for an Anneursym and did it rupture or was it treated prior to that? Your question is too general but I urge you to call the Dr who treated the Ane - before flying! When in doubt - drive or take a train/bus.
Avatar f tn I had a subarachnoid hemorrhagic stroke from a brain aneurysm in January of 2010. I had an endovascular coiling treatment to stop the bleeding, and I have since had a repeat coiling procedure (in April) when it reopened.
572651 tn?1530999357 No, Lulu you didn't miss anything. I picked up my angiogram CD and that's what the report says. I hope it didn't grow, but just wasn't as measurable on the original MRA in January. Because the ophthalmic artery is part of it, it's not suitable for coiling, and I would like the surgeon to tell me if he can clip it and move the ophthalmic artery or something.
Avatar m tn Was your aneurysm resolved by surgery? If so, was it clipped through a crainotomy or did you have a coiling procedure? Your reply will help a number of people and I might be able to shed some additional light on why your migraines could be occuring. Thank you.
Avatar f tn You should definitely contact your doctor about your symptoms. You can't rely on a website to diagnose what the problem is. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I, too, have been told I have an aneurysm, but just had a CT angiogram to determine more specifically what is going on with it, and what the treatment will be. The neurosurgeon said it may just be able to be monitored, but I guess the other alternative is some sort of surgery. Yikes... Did you get anymore info yet?
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
