Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram blood clot

Avatar f tn My leg hurt for just a bit last night and then a little while after that I started hurting and freaked out because a blood clot was the first thing I thought of. It's not a constant pain.. It's just there when I move a certain way. I work in a hospital and I'm always pushing stretchers and wheel chairs so I thought maybe it could be a pulled muslce. But it's not sore... just hurts when I move a certain way. No pain when I breathe in deep or no shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn My father who will shortly turn 80 in December was diagnosed today with a blood clot in his heart. He currently has a pacemaker installed two years ago, has had approximately 4 heart attacks, had a quadriple heart bypass about ten years ago, is a non-smoker but lives in a home with second-hand smoke, has become a type one insulin dependant diabetic, and basically lives in his recliner chair in his livingroom.
Avatar n tn If these are within normal limits, risk of another clot forming or the present clot breaking is less. Also, walking on the plane, using compression stockings is helpful. It is always advisable to use hopping flights. This allows some movement in between flights. You must take your doctor’s permission before flying. You may be put on blood thinners and asked to use compression stockings. You will need to walk around the plane.
Avatar m tn CT scan 64-slice angiogram as well as a cath angiogram is by definition an angiogram as both involve a dye injection, but there is more intense radiation exposure with CT angiogram. It is fast becoming the radiological test of choice to look at disease of blood vessels. The next generation of a ct scan will reduce the individual's radiation exposure. The ct angiogram involves an assessment of the body of the vessels as well as the lumen.
Avatar n tn my sister in law is now in surgery to have a brain stem blood clot removed can you tell me more about this please
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar m tn I have a blood clot in my left ventricle, my doctor wants to do a angiogram with a stent is that safe, what happens to the blood clot?
Avatar n tn When l had an angiogram, l ended up with a large blood clot, in the top of my leg, which l later had to have removed, in order to save my life. Can l take any action against the person that did the original angiogram?
Avatar m tn higher haemoglobin levels can exist in smokers and living at higher altitudes, or lung diseases/cancer. So an Angiogram found nothing wrong, but they say he has a clot? where in the body is the clot?
6887703 tn?1385789354 3 days after a cardiac angiogram I developed severe swelling and pain near the right wrist site. Went to ER 10 days later & a scan showed a clot. I was told to apply heat & return if worse. I returned yesterday (2 weeks later) & another scan showed the same as 1st. I was admitted & told they would do surgery to remove the clot. Yet the next morning they said they felt they would do more damage attempting to remove the clot. I was discharged on 60 mg.
359574 tn?1328360424 The only thing it could do on its own would be if a ridiculously lucky piece of plaque would lodge inside of it and start a clot that filled it in. In fact, that is what the interventional radiologists do on purpose when they are able to coil them--form a platinum clot inside the aneurysm so blood can no longer go inside of it and cause it to expand. Dissolving would be a bad thing. That's a hole and a brain bleed.
Avatar m tn great answer from Tony, all around. I especially like the parts about being persistent and also demonstrating the motivation to change. To Lookingtochange, I'd add that the size of the blockage doesn't really tell you how likely you are to have a heart attack. That would more tend to tell you about the cause of chest/arm pains (angina).
Avatar f tn t appear by my conversations restenting is an option until this clot is remedied. The clot was partially removed in the first angio and Reopro was directed to the clot-the second angio 2 days later showed no change. He is now on the the reopro and heparin iv drip for the 4th day. He seems to be a phenomenon. I have always known my husband is special, but this is too concerning. When a top cardiologist is shaking his head and saying there is nothing we can do.
Avatar f tn I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar f tn I was in ICU for congested heart failure that came about very suddenly without any symptoms prior. Given blood test, chest x-ray, EKG, echo and then a cath angiogram. The diagnosis was very little blood flowing to the distal portion of the heart. It was believed if the 98% blocked RCA was stented there would be more blood to that portion of the heart. The 100% blocked LAD had developed collateral vessels for a natural bypass, and circumflex is 72% blocked (no stent).
Avatar f tn Towards the end of the test, I had heart attack symptoms ( which resolved with 3 squirts of nitro) and was sent to the hosp for an angiogram. Results of the angiogram were good , except for a 25% occlusion in a distal aeortic vessel on the back of my heart down by the apex. The Dr. said that my heart had "spasmed" during the stress test. I had never had a problem with the treadmill test. With the med stress echo, my heart was beating faster than I think it ever has....
Avatar f tn nuclear scans are very different and show the area of oxygen deficit, not the artery causing the problem. They are nice glowing images showing the level of oxygen. example... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Patients/Programs-and-Services/Heart-Institute/Research-and-Outcomes/Cardiac-Imaging-Research-Team-CIRT/Images/nuclear-scan-12141.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.cedars-sinai.
Avatar f tn Certain conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking and sedentary lifestyle promote this. Other causes for narrowing are stenosis and vasculitis. When a blood clot tries to pass through a narrowed lumen it causes an obstruction to flow. Sometimes the damaged vessel may develop a clot at the site of injury causing diminished blood flow. Regards.
Avatar n tn During the procedure, his femorial artery was punctured causing a pseudoaneurysm, which then caused a blood clot to form on the outside of the artery wall. This resulted in them going back in to do a thrombosis injection. Because of the where the puncture was located, they had to actually operate on my husband. He has a 7 inch incision in his groin area. They had to drain the blood clot and repair the artery. My question is, what could have caused the puncture?
Avatar m tn I and many other individuals have been on Plavix and aspirin for up to a year after a drug eluding stent inplant (with DES there is a risk up to about 1 year for a blood clot at the site of the implant) however, after a year many just stay with aspirin and off plavix...recommended after government studies...,risk of excessive bleeding outweigh any benefits if any.
Avatar f tn By any chance do you know if there is a significant difference in the number of images for an angiogram without stents vs the one that would have two stents? The hospital said that there are 6 discs for an angioplasty (2 stents) but only 1 disc for just the angiogram when they didn't place any stents. Thanks!
678571 tn?1228012270 My symptoms before this angiogram were chest pain with exertion of any kind. After this angiogram, I have had blood pressure problems, breathing problems, dry cough, shortness of breath and all the other symptoms that my cardiologist wanted me to do an angiogram for. He had said that if I needed an other stent put in. I would need a bypass even though I have small vessels.
