Strep can be resistant. Amoxicillin unless in high doses or mixed with clavulanate acid (making the brand name Augmentin) can be ineffective and the azithromycin add on really sounds like an odd choice to treat strep. Call your doctor and tell them you are not improving. You normally start to feel better within 48 hours on an antibiotic with lessoning of symptoms (always take the full course of the medication though even if you feel better).

First, I was prescribed amoxicillin, as the doc thought I had a sinus infection. That helped the congestion a bit, but the cough didn't go away. Then I was given a zpack which lessened the cough, but I still have the cough. The cough is very light to nonexistent during the day, it really picks up at night. It has been this way the entire time. The cough is quite productive and lots of phlegm is present in my throat. What should I do at this point?
I am currently finished with my amoxicillin dosage and hasn't seemed to change much. Basically now the cough only persists throughout the night whenever I lay down or am exposed to the cold the cough comes back.
Longstory short, I demanded that they performed a sperm culture and voila, positive for e coli resistant to cipro (probably thats why levo didnt work), bactrim and amoxicillin. However it was sensible to amoxicillin clavulanic, fosfomycine, nitrofurantoin and imipenem. So the doctor choice was amox clav 4 weeks and 1 dose of fosfomycice 3 g every week.
My question is: if my ecoli is resistant to amox but sensible amox clav is it the best choice?

H.pylori is one of the main causes of peptic ulcers and acid reflux. It's the bacteria you get in your stomach when you have too little acid. It's easily fixed and you can go on antibiotics to get rid of it. I think takes around 2 weeks but don't quote me on that. If you leave it unchecked you can possibly get an ulcer from it.
Also taking acid blockers like prevacid and protonix would only make it worse if you don't take the antibiotics as well.

I've been having abdominal pain for a bit over two months. Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling.
Doctor has prescribed me Augmentin 875-125 mg (Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) twice a day for 1 week (I think the 875 is the Amoxicillin part and 125 maybe the clavulanic acid). I will take the meds and see if the infection goes away.
I would not recommend taking any outdated medication. You can check with a pharmacist about the amoxicillin. Secondly, you can ask your physician for samples if possible or ask if she or he can enroll you in a free medication program so that you are able to get the medication to take.

How long does it take to get this anti-biotic out of your system? It really sent me into a anxiety tailspin. I have been a little stressed lately, but wow. My Dr. says my anxiety and insomnia has nothing to do with the anti-biotic... but after reading some of these other posts, I can't help but feel that there is a lot of missing information out there about possible side effects. Has anyone else experienced anything like this lately?
