Avatar m tn Thankyou for your links, I am unfortunatly not very awear of how I should look after my health with HBV, my specialist doctor isn't very helpful with my condition, he just takes blood every 6 months, mumbles a few words and so the cycle goes. I am always very cautious to take medication, as I know my liver is not in its top condition. The doctors just priscribe drugs and very rerely, look at your condtion, past health issues ect..
Avatar m tn She said it’s probably still caused by a lymphnomic rumor. She’s currently on truprofin and amoxicillin trihydrate and clavulanate potassium tablets (250mg 2x daily) for one week. I can not tell yet if the swelling has gone down and am still worried that she may have a pice if split wood in her throat. Has anyone experienced anything like this and got a firm answer? My vet isn’t back for a week and waiting for the second opinion has me going crazy with worry.
290867 tn?1333569278 Does anyone know if amoxicillin is safe to take during pregnancy. I am 19 weeks 2 Days and I am concerned. I went to my primary care physician because I have been having a sore throat and really bad headaches. My ob said there is nothing he can do because its really not pregnancy related and its gotten to the point of unbareable. He said I had a bad viral infection and strep throat. I am just really concerned about taking any meds while im preggo.
Avatar f tn I got really sick, and my doctor put me on the antiobiotic Augmentin XR(Amoxicillin clavulanic potassium). I am also taking some tylenol for fever. I was wondering if all these drugs are safe to take together. Specifically, will my potassium levels be altered to a dangerous point? I've heard ambiguities about birth control and antibiotics. I just want to make sure the mix of medication will not adversley affect anything.
Avatar f tn This sounds like it has 100% to do with the Amoxicillin, and not Mono combined with Amoxicillin and so forth. Amoxicillin can cause joint pain although this is not a common side effect, but can occur and should NOT be permanent, but temporary. If this hasn't subsided, this definitely needs to be further investigated by your physician.
Avatar m tn I have been repeatedly prescribed amoxicillin to fight a bacterial infection. I had difficulty figuring out that I was having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin because many of the symptoms (abdominal pain and swollen glands) were similar to the original infection and the more classis symptoms (tching and hives) didn't appear until after I had finished my third prescription. My question? Is amoxicillin less effective in fighting an infection if you are allergic to the antibiotic?
Avatar f tn Yep, some can. Amoxicillin can cause a positive for cocaine, Quinolones (like Cipro) can cause a positive for amitriptyline and opiates, A couple other less common antibiotic classes can cause positives too. Did this happen to you?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on birth control and have been for two years now. I recently took amoxicillin for a strep throat for a few days and have been using a condom, as I always do. It's been less than a week since I took the amoxicillin and tonight the condom broke. Should I take plan B? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I've never had this reaction, but people react to medications in individual ways. I've read several posts about this problem with antibiotics, though I don't know if you can prove something like this definitively. I always say to trust your instincts and never to trust doctors when they talk about medication -- they really know very little about it, as is natural since they're not drug researchers.
1418362 tn?1282203044 Several observations: The diarrhea from the amoxicillin can be a colon infection called C.Diff. enteritis...i would stop the amoxicillin and call your doctor. secondly, amoxicillin doesn't worsen a fungal sinusitis but it also doesn't treat it. You may need to see and ENT doctor.
Avatar f tn Hello, First, not a good idea to take medications prescribed for others. Definitely should be seen by a physician for a proper diagnosis and prescibed your own medications. Secondly, if you are asked what medications you are taking when applying for a job you should probably be truthful, but now you will run the risk of having to explain taking a drug that has not been prescribed for you. The amoxicillin won't be the big deal but the klonopin may be.
Avatar m tn I developed asthma suddenly at age 62 while taking "prev pac", (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, prevacid). No previous history of lung problems. Is it possible that the drugs triggered an autoimmune response? This has persisted for 3 years, some relief at first from prednisone but it no longer works.
Avatar f tn I have been able to clear and heal the wound and have been dosing him with amoxicillin. He seems to have an allergy to this antibiotic as I have discovered hes been throwing up in the basement. This is the usual drug I use to treat abscess-type infections and I want to make sure the interior infection clears up. Is there a good alternative to amoxicillin for this type of infection?
Avatar n tn I have an infected tooth which has to be extracted in the next few days but as of now I was prescribed 250 mg of Amoxicillin and have to take it 3 times a day. Since Wednesday I have taken seven doses and for the last few hours I've been experiencing and odd feeling in my mouth/on my tongue. I guess I'd say there's a slightly warm and numb feeling on my tongue. I wouldnt say it feels like a film is on my tongue, but maybe dry mouth? It's hard to describe.
Avatar m tn prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?

Avatar f tn Amoxicillin is a class B drug, and is considered safe to use. Studies using 10 times the normal human dose in animals have failed to show any defects. Your doctor won't give you anything that isn't safe for your baby. Good luck!
4356842 tn?1353312209 Your pharmacist is a good person to talk to. He or she should be able to tell you if there is a drug interaction. Good luck.

Avatar n tn The rash appeared not long after I began taking Amoxicillin however I have always taken Amoxicillin with no problems at all (since Nov. I have throat flairups, the doctors are not sure what is causing it. My lymph nodes swell, tonsils are infected, fever, white on my tongue, etc however I always test negative for mono and strep). Just in case, I was taken off the Amoxicillin but the rash keeps increasing. The rash started as small tiny red dots across my abdomen and has spread.
Avatar f tn So my LLMD has me on the following medications: Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. I am getting a more sensitive test for h Pyelori as well. I am also taking or about to Amrix for muscle pain. Has anyone taken this?
