Some vets prescribe some humane medicine for pets - but they know the problem AND the correct usage/dosage for.Never try this for yourself without professional help.
If you're just trying to give a medicine prescribed by a vet, ask him/her if you can do the way you want.
Personally, I think sprinkle on food has no chance of working - cat wont eat that. Mixing with water can cause him getting a subdosage, also.
My 8 month old was given a 10 days course of amoxicillin for an ear infection. We finished the antibiotic and 2 days later, my son started breaking out in hives. He has been doing this for 36 hours now. They come and go, they will appear in one area, disappear, then appear in another. The on-call nurse (it's the weekend) told us he probably has a virus, treat it with benadryl every 6 hours and the hives should go away in 2-3 days.
If the cat has had recurring UTIs and every single time, the vet gave amoxicillin for a ten-day period in a certain dose, and last week when the poster's little son got an infection the doctor prescribed amoxicillin and lo and behold it was the same stuff, and there was a lot left over, and now the cat has a UTI again, I might chance it. But otherwise, no. Too easy to miss one's guess about what is wrong and about what would fix it.
Which I am sceptical because when I took Amoxicillin it was 1 a day pill for a week and as soon as i took it the bacteria was going away. Now I've taken Clindamycin like 5 times, because it's 1 pill ever 6 hours. There is 28 pills in total. But I don't see the bacteria fading, like the Amoxicillin.
Due to a recent oral sex encounter, I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia in the throat. Those swabs were done with the Aptima Combo 2 Assay and came back negative. I took azithromycin and rocephin injection as a precaution (before the swab results came back), and am currently taking Augmentin to get rid of the strep. I was feeling fine and healed until yesterday when my throat started to hurt again.
Would 1 gram, 3x daily (3 grams daily) of Amoxicillin for 10 days kill Chlamydia and Gonnorea?

If you've been on Amoxicillin for more than 3 days and are not starting to feel better go back to the doctor and get a different antibiotic.

RUBBISH !!! Amoxicillin is the safest antibiotic for cats who do not have an allergy to penicillin - and very few have. Where are you getting your information???
So yesterday I went to the Dr for an ear infection and the Dr said it was pretty bad. He prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day for 10 days. He said it was safe but I am scared. I have called and left a message for my drs assistant. Waiting for a call back. Have any of you had to take this in this dossage?

Thanks for your comment, I have been taking probiotics for about 8 days and my rapid heart beat/anxiety and insomnia condition have both stopped. I still have stress in my life but "I'm almost back". Thanks Ultimate flora and thanks for the support Paxiled.
You can check with a pharmacist about the amoxicillin. Secondly, you can ask your physician for samples if possible or ask if she or he can enroll you in a free medication program so that you are able to get the medication to take.

I was told by a doctor I might have a chest infection so she put me on 500mg of amoxicillin three times a day. I'm also on diazepam for muscle spasms and anxiety. I cannot remember is she said it was ok go take them both together.
If ok to take together this will put my mind at rest and stop me panicing.

Amoxicillin is not usually given for stds. In fact, I don't know of any that it actually would treat. Most bacterial non-gonorrheal stds are treated with doxycycline 2/day for 7-10 days or Azithromycin 2g one time. For gonorrhea, you need a shot, I forget what it's called plus Ciprofloxacin. For viral stds, they have no cure although you may be able to reduce symptoms by taking antiviral medications.
