Doctor has prescribed me Augmentin 875-125 mg (Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) twice a day for 1 week (I think the 875 is the Amoxicillin part and 125 maybe the clavulanic acid). I will take the meds and see if the infection goes away.
It is no surprise to me that your doctor found enterococcus in your urine- it is normally there although the quantity that you mention is a higher than normal (are you sure there were 20,000,000 organisms per milliliter of urine- this is extraordinarily high) and ay warrant treatment, particularly if there were other abnormalities on your urinalysis such as a positive leukocyte esterase test or increased numbers of white blood cells.
I have been diagnosed with Prostitiis with the culture coming back showing Enterococcus. My doctor told me it was very serious and said the best treatment for this germ is Amoxicillin. I am taking 2000mg Amoxicillin a day for 30 days. Eight months ago I was diagnosed with the same disease with the exception it was an E-Coli germ My doctor seemed very upset that this type of disease returned after only 8 months. What do you think is the cause of this reoccurence.
I finished the course and went back for culture and it still came back positive for enterococcus. She then put me on a higher dose of Ampicilling (850mg) and said I should see a Urologist or Urogyn. I went to Urologist and have had a bladder/kidney ultrasound which was negative, postvoid residual scan results = scant, and I am scheduled for a cystoscopy next week. I have taken Cipro 500, Levofloxacin 2 different times and I still have this enterococcus bacteria. It will not go away.
10days Xiclav therapy was prescribed. After that, strep was gone, but e colli was there, so Bactrim was prescribed for 5 days. 3rd time only enterococcus faecalis was reported and nothing was prescribed until after 20days the doctor repeated examination. 4th swab indicated presence of strep b (second time) and enterococcus faecalis, amoxiscilin is prescribed for 8-10 days.
I thought I had yeast infection turns out to be a Uti. In 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow has anyone took penicillin in first trimester? Worries about it causing a miscarriage or birth defects..
Idk why she said monistat....that's for a yeast infection. But I've had a uti for majority of my pregnancy :( every time they prescribe me with something it come back after I finish the doses. I'm 38 weeks too, my baby is super duper active so the uti isn't messing with him lol. But yes take ur medicine n take all of it so u can feel better!!!
You should probably see your doctor and if its still positive for Streptococcus Group B then ask her about prescribing you penicillin/amoxicillin because I had a UTI was treated with doxycycline and still had a recurring problem then treated for bacterial vaginotis and treated with flagyl pills...
I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise. Chronic UTI have been present since four days into our marriage, always after intercourse times eleven years. I am allergic to sulfa and pcn.
I took amoxicillin for a UTI in the beginning of my pregnancy. As long as your doctor is okay with it and prescribes it for you, you should be fine.
its is not possible for amoxicillin to give u a UTI. On the contrary, it may help HEAL an existing UTI. it's possible you have contracted a UTI or something else recently, or the lower back pain etc. are all unrelated and transient problems that may go away on their own. how r u doing now?
s are susceptible to amoxicillin so your Dr will need to determine the appropriate antibiotic for you.
So, a while ago i posted thayt the doc put me on amoxicillin at 32weeks for the remainder of my pregnancy due to continuous UTI. Well, abour a week in of taking them i noticed that i was sore and swollen with some withish thick discharge. After a few days it went away. It has been coming and going every few days now. Right as i think it goes away, i start feeling extremely sore abd tinder and that noticeable white discharge pops up.
Had a urine test done and came back that I still have a UTI despite a full course of amoxicillin which I just finished this morning. The Dr. said the urine was positive for nitrites but negative for leukocytes. He said this was not normal. Had me go to the hospital lab for a urine culture which will come back on Monday. Then I have an appt. for a scope in two weeks. He suggested I could have a persistent UTI that is resistant to the antibiotics I've taken.
I was on amoxicillin for a UTI, how long should I be off of the antibiotic before getting another culture? Amoxicillin has a 60 minute half life, very short. Could you go the next day to get a urine culture?
I was originally diagnosed with NGU and took azithromycin. Following this I had recurrent bouts of testicular and UTI type pain, and some joint pain in my ankles, hands, and gritty eyes - so this felt like mild Reiters. I had multiple (more than 20) tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea - always negative. I had 2 negative tests each for Ureaplasmas and Mycoplasma Genitalium, and negative for Trich and Syphlis. Took lots of Doxy in between, leaving 4 weeks after before my last MG and UU test.
Hi. I had uti about a week ago I took amoxicillin that I had left over from a tooth being pulled. I'm pretty sure the uti went away. I don't have burning or urge to pee but my back is begging to hurt. I don't have chills or fever. Everyone in my house has some type of bug. I have a stomachache. Is this still a uti or something else?

Later that month I got a tonsil infection (something that happens frequently to me) and I went to a different doctor to get antibiotics for it. I mentioned the ongoing UTI to her and she prescribed me Amoxicillin with Potassium. She said it should kill two birds with one stone. A few days after being on antibiotics a weird rash appeared on my penis and after a day it turned into a sore.

I developed a rash on my arms for 2 days in May(6 weeks after) and it went away in 2 days. Also had a UTI(blood in the urine) in late June (11 weeks after) and my doctor prescribed CIPRO and it was cleared in a week. Other than these, I did not have any fever,sore throat, penile sore and penile discharge but always feel lightheaded, fatigue, and weakness in the arms and legs.
I have not done any testing so far.
ok ladies so i have a uti im 14 weeks ive noticed swelling in my vaginal area im on amoxicillin im getting worried please help
1) It started from a simple middle ear infection of the right ear that went untreated for a month. After going to a doctor, I got amoxicillin pills for 10 days. The symptoms went away but came back pretty quickly.
2) May: I went to a doctor again, they took samples from my ear and the result was Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. I got ear drops with Ciprofloxacin since I already took amoxicillin which the bacteria turned out to me sensitive to.
