I have had a cold for a few days now and have not taken anything for it it's worse today so I called my Dr. and they are closed until Monday :/ I am 12 wks and just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do or safely take??
felt normal for 1-2 weeks. I then developed what I thought was just a cold (stuffy/runny nose) but it completely wiped my energy out. After 2 weeks of sinus issues & horrible fatigue I finally broke down & saw my dr. He said he didn't think I had an infection because everything looked good but thought there was something underlying to cause the fatigue so he put me on amoxicillin 500mg 3xday. I was on it a week then I had a day where I felt completely normal again.
finally my doctor put me on amoxicillin/Clav 875mg and that helped a little. and the bronchitis seemed to have cleared. then a week later my ears begin to hurt. the pain was pretty bad. i thought it would go away on its own but after a week it seemed to be getting worse. so back to the doctor yet again. he again gave a me a shot in the but of antibiotics and then same antibiotic again amoxicillin/clav 875 mg. after a few days the pain lessened but it is still there.
I'm 24 weeks and I have a bad cold and cough. What medicine was ok for u to take or have u taken while pregnant that will not hurt the baby?????
ok so I also had a horrible cold for two weeks. Our immune systems are depressed so that our bodies don't attack baby.
You can't take a whole lot and cough medicines don't work anyway. Here's what has worked! Buy a probiotic to boost your immune system. Make sure the count is like 50 billion or more. Mine is 400 billion from RAW. This is both safe and recommended by my midwives/ OB.
I also made a "tonic" for my tea: it's sooooo helpful. Get raw honey...
If you have prescription amoxicillin, call the pharmacy that filled the prescription and they'll be able to tell you if the combination is okay. They are the best folks to ask; please call your pharmacy now.
Amoxicillin is not a treatment for a cold. It treats bacterial infections, and a cold doesn't come from bacteria, it comes from a virus. If you were just asking the doctor for amoxicillin because you were worried about STDs and were using the cold as a pretext, while it's surprising the doctor played along, at least you know.
I have had a sinus infection and bad cold for over a month now....it's the worst feeling ever. My Dr prescribed me amoxicillin for the infection but it didn't fully take care of the symptoms, it is safe to take though! Also on my list of safe meds are sudafed, Claritin and zyrtec. Hopefully one of those will help you ladies out!
3 weeks ago, I received unprotected oral sex from a stripper at a bachelor party. Afterwards I noticed she had lump under her lip - I'm not sure if it was a pimple or a cold sore or something else.
I became worried so I went to an STI clinic the next day and was tested. My blood tests came back negative (they came back within 5 days), but the doctor gave me Zithromax to take as a precaution.
I was on amoxicillin for a few months for a dental abscess. This was around 7 months ago. Since then, my lower lip on the right side has been swollen. My checks also swell sometimes on the inside. This has been going on and off for around 6 months. The lip swelling goes down but never really goes away completely. The cheek swelling is the same as it comes and goes but is always somewhat puffy and swollen still. No real pain, just annoying.
About a month ago I cracked a tooth. A week or so after the crack is swelled up pretty bad. I went to urgent care and the doctor games me 500mg of penicillin 4 times a day. The penicillin knocked out the swelling in a couple days and everything pretty much went back to normal. Last night the area swelled up again and even my law line started swelling. I could feel a large bump in my gum line which I'm guessing was the infection.
A year ago I kissed a girl who had relationships with at least 5 guys before me. Two days later I had a sore throat, then a cold sore. I recently did an STD test for common STDs with Labcorp, Only HSV-1 came positive (IgG = 3.0). I remember noticing a cold sore once or twice during the year, but never had pain or serious symptoms. Today, nine days after beginning to feel sick, I visited my doctor and was prescribed Amoxicillin 875mg tabs to be taken twice a day for the next ten days. My doctor believes I have a sinus infection, hence the Amoxicillin prescription. I did not mention my unsafe sexual encounter to my doctor and I am not having any outward symptoms of any kind of STD.
My question is, can you tell me what if any STD the Amoxicillin would cure if I did contract one from my friend?
I had an extremely bad cold which led to a sinus infection and strep throat which i took amoxicillin for which seemed to clear up the infection however. I noticed my lymph node in my neck and tonsil on the same side are still swollen and its been about 2 months now. There is no pain either. I was just wondering if it is normal for lymph nodes and a tonsil to stay swollen for that long? I've tried gargling warm salt water and that doesn't seem to help either.
My husband ran a fever the day before my ovulation. And he took fever and cold and cough medicine. I have been coughing a week before ovulation and still coughing now. I have taking amoxicillin and cough medicine until 1 week after ovulation. I didn't expect I will get pregnant. Now, I'm worry about my husband's sperm quality, and my egg quality. Will it cause birth defect? Please give me your advice. Thank you!

You should probably take the antibiotics are directed by your physician.
Which I am sceptical because when I took Amoxicillin it was 1 a day pill for a week and as soon as i took it the bacteria was going away. Now I've taken Clindamycin like 5 times, because it's 1 pill ever 6 hours. There is 28 pills in total. But I don't see the bacteria fading, like the Amoxicillin.
I am currently being treated for LD. Had allergic reaction to doxy and am now on amoxicillin 1500 mg a day. Breasts have been very sore and look like they've grown a cup size and developed what appears to be boils on breasts. Dr said it was a staph infection and prescribed Sulfamethoxazole. How can I develop an infection while on meds? Can this be life threatening?.....Dr said if it gets worse to go to ER.
Thank you for the advice. I did get a swab before and it said I had some sort of strep non A, C, or G group related. The pain is only on the right side and shoots up to my ear and neck. Is it possible it came back even while on antibiotics? The augmentin should kill it, which is why I was prescribed that.
m 32+ 1 and am currently on Amoxicillin twice a day for the ear infection. Amoxicillin is a catagory B antibiotic which is safe for baby. Feel better.
Sometimes people who are allergic to amoxicillin aren't actually allergic to amoxicillin. A lot of times the illnesses that amox is used to treat can cause a rash as well which is why many people who aren't really allergic get labeled as having an allergy... There is also the possibility that it's only amox you are allergic to and not penicillins as a whole.
