Common Questions and Answers about Amoxicillin dosage upper respiratory infection

amoxil

Avatar n tn If you suspect an upper respiratory infection, please take your fur baby to a vet. If this amoxicillin or ciproflaxin is human medication, do not give this to your cat as this is made for human consumption not for cats. Take your cat to a vet to be properly diagnosed and treated. Under no circumstances should you ever use human prescription meds on a cat.
Avatar f tn I had a terrible upper respiratory infection a couple of weeks ago and my OB prescribed amoxicillin. He told me it was perfectly safe to take. Hope you get to feeling better!!
Avatar f tn Kitten was abandon eats solid food is showing signs of upper respiratory infection. She is eating a drinking and playing. Sleeps a lot. How much ml of amoxicillin should I give and for how long?
Avatar f tn Today I took my 15 month old son to one of his regular checkups. His doctor had noticed some fluid in his left ear and said he had a small infection. I told her he had a cold and some congestion but I didn't know about his ear. She prescribed him Amoxicillin for his ear and told me something about the dosage. All I remember her saying is something about 1 tsp.
Avatar n tn Another possibility is a fungal infection of the nasal passages, such as Aspergillosis, which can cause long term nasal and upper respiratory symptoms. Fungal infections do not respond to antibiotics. Anti-fungal medication must be used, sometimes long term to eliminate the fungal infection.
12275041 tn?1435515465 Two weeks ago I went to the doctor which they diagnosed me with an upper respiratory infection and prescribed amoxicillin and sudafed. Friday I finished the amoxicillin and I feel so much better. Come Saturday all of my symptoms of coughing, congestion, and not being able to sleep or breathe at night return and now I am coughing so bad it gets to the point where I start puking.
Avatar n tn Do you have any idea about the right antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection? However, if I DO NOT see an improvment within the next couple of days....I will be taking him to the vet. He is eating and acting completly normal. still playing all the time. you would not be able to tell he was sick if you couldn't here him. Thank you sooo much for your reply!!!!
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important. I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself. Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead. Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
1840402 tn?1355432565 I took antibiotics awhile back for an upper respiratory infection, and baby is still doing well, highly active and everything. I know it's hard, but I do think the doctor wouldn't give you anything that was dangerous for the baby.
12629092 tn?1426354227 t take care of him anymore and noticed he has a terrible upper respiratory infection. Apparently it has been an ongoing and untreated problem for years. He has all the classic symptoms of an infection with green mucous in the nasil passages, phlegmy cough and occasional drainage from the eyes. I was passing through a local hardware store that carries farm supplies and noticed antibiotics on the shelves. I don't have the money to bring Ziggy to the vet.
Avatar n tn I took my cat to the hospital today and found out she has Feline Upper Respiratory Virus. She is two years old and has taken antibiotics before but not Clavamox. They told me to start the first dose around supper time. So I open a can of food and put the pill in it. It worked and she at it. About ten minutes later I notices involuntary head movements every 30 seconds or so. She only does this when she is laying down not when she is walking.
Avatar n tn I was on 875 mg of amoxicillin for respritory infection then the day i finished that I was given levaquin for a sinus infection I got while I was on the amoxicillin and now I have an ear infection with discharge and bleeding and the sinus infection is not gone? Is it possible to get all these infections one right after the other while on these anibiotics?
Avatar n tn Infections usually start out as upper respiratory infections, such as from a cold and then travel down into your lungs (lower respiratory infection). Other times it's from getting the flu and a secondary infection sets in, such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis. Other times you could get acute bronchitis from being exposed to a lot of irritants in the air (such as wood dust, heavy pollution etc).
Avatar n tn yes take it....I had to take it several times with my last pregnancy and once with this one and it's one of the safest things to take (the only thing safer is tylenol :) ) and it's definitely better than an infection.
Avatar n tn coli or salmonella infection. Amoxicillin is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole. Since you havent mentioned what caused this food poisoning and other relevant information, its difficult to suggest a medicine. I ll just say, There are better medicines for food poisoning.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Amoxicillin in the preferred antibiotic in dental infections. The usual adult dosage is 500 mg given every 6-8 hrly. The dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the severity of infection. If you are having a dental infection or cavity it is best to get it treated by a root canal before the problem aggravates. See a dentist. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn Hi, I battle lot's of infections, mainly sinus/upper respiratory, almost monthly, my wbc is not high but always elevated. Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.
Avatar f tn For some reason I get an ear infection with every pregnancy, lol. I have taken this with all 3 so far and have 3 perfectly healthy kids. This is #4 and I haven't had one yet but I still have 12 weeks left to change that, lol.
Avatar n tn A child who takes 5 ml of the 250mg/5ml dose, for example, is receiving 250 mg of amoxicillin. The recommended pediatric dosage varies from 25 mg/kg per day to 45 mg/kg per day, depending on the underlying infection, according to Rx List. The suspension should be shaken well and measured with a marked measuring spoon to ensure that the right dose is given. Regular silverware should not be used to measure medication doses, warns Drugs.com.
Avatar f tn Anyone ever had an upper respiratory infection during their pregnancy? If so, did it affect your baby in any way?
2041076 tn?1329881359 I am uncertain about what this statement means but assume the symptoms to be those of a cold or another type of upper respiratory infection. Such symptoms may be caused by persistent or recurrent infection but, in many instances are caused by repeated exposure to, 1) an allergic substance or, 2) to an irritant; that is, they can be caused by something present in your environment.
Avatar n tn In my opinion, the tiredness is probably related to this persistent infection and the anitbiotic. Are you following up with an ENT Specialist and/or an Allergist for this chronic/persistent sinus infection? This problem could also be allergy-related.
Avatar m tn It is hard to know what is going on, but clearly it is something in your respiratory tract, both lower (lungs) and upper (sinuses). It is highly likely that you have infection, causing both upper and lower respiratory disease- likely to be either acute bronchitis or asthma. the presence of infection can frequently give clinical expression to asthma, in a person who’s asthma may heretofore have been silent. It is also possible that the tightness in your chest is a sign of that.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor last wednesday and he diagnosed me with an upper respiratory infection caused by allergies. The main symptom I went there for was this brain fog, I have it bad and still have it bad to this day. The doctor said that would cause it, but i just want to know if it is true and will it be cured by the antibiodics he gave me please help.
