This sounds like it has 100% to do with the Amoxicillin, and not Mono combined with Amoxicillin and so forth.
Amoxicillin can cause joint pain although this is not a common side effect, but can occur and should NOT be permanent, but temporary.
If this hasn't subsided, this definitely needs to be further investigated by your physician.
I'm taking amoxicillin and my cheeks are very red, like i'm sunburnt, and very hot. It's only on my cheeks no where else on my face or body. I've been givien this same medicine many times and have never had this reaction, The only other thing I can think about is I was given a corticosteroid shot and nasal spray called Fluticasone. It's not shown as a side effect of the nasal spray, but could it be from one of these other medicines. Should I call my pharmacist or doctor?
There is no connection between amoxicillin and Hepatitis C. Sorry you relapsed. What treatment were you on?
What was the medication , it does sound like hives and may indeed have been a reaction to the meds or you maybe allergic to something else , new underwear , new creams ,if it continues its would be best to have it checked out with the Doctor .
My mom did tell me I used to take amoxicillin when I was a kid and never had any reactions (although I did develop a skin reaction to a Sulpha drug in the past) My last dose was at 3 this afternoon and I started noticing this feeling in my mouth around 8pm. It's not midnight and I still feel it. I'm due for another dose this evening (should have taken it already) but I'm a little worried in case it's a reaction..
Is this because I did not take the entire RX or is it a possible reaction? Showering seems to make them worse, they become dark red and seem to mulitply in seconds, then hours later they are pink and seem to have less of them. Dr only seems to give meds for itching when they don't itch! How do I get rid of this?!?!?!
I took her to the doctor again today (1 week later) and they told me that she has erytherma multiforme caused from the amoxicillin. Can anyone tell me if the amoxicillin was the cause to this and how long it will last? Do you think it could be something else?
An allergic reaction to amoxicillin (and then all penicillin based meds would be included) is sudden and intense and can quickly become life threatening.
Rash is listed as a side effect to this antibiotic. Call the doctor but it is highly unlikely that it is an allergic reaction but a side effect. And it doesn't mean your child will get it every time they take amoxicillin or drugs of the penicillin class. good luck!!
I had difficulty figuring out that I was having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin because many of the symptoms (abdominal pain and swollen glands) were similar to the original infection and the more classis symptoms (tching and hives) didn't appear until after I had finished my third prescription.
My question? Is amoxicillin less effective in fighting an infection if you are allergic to the antibiotic? If so, would it be completely useless or still have some of the desired effect?

My dentist prescribed antibiotics for the tooth extraction. I told him I am on interferon and he called my GI and checked with him first. I don't think there should be any issues.
Both your dentist and doctor should know all your current medications and any invasive dental procedure you are planning.
Around 23yr old, developed small reaction to red wine and some beer (specifically Hefeweizen). Reaction has become severe over the years and now includes nearly all wines and beers (even bud light) and the reaction is more severe. I have no other food reactions that I know of.
Reaction description: difficulty swallowing, breathing, shortness of breath, Benadryl clears it up completely and quickly.
Tried a sip of wine during my honeymoon in Greece last month to test the reaction.
My 8 month old was given a 10 days course of amoxicillin for an ear infection. We finished the antibiotic and 2 days later, my son started breaking out in hives. He has been doing this for 36 hours now. They come and go, they will appear in one area, disappear, then appear in another. The on-call nurse (it's the weekend) told us he probably has a virus, treat it with benadryl every 6 hours and the hives should go away in 2-3 days.
My Niece broke out in a rash all over looked like chicken pox we took her to the dr

Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. You have most probably suffered from an acute allergic reaction to the consumption of the penicillin antibiotic. Your doctor is right in saying that you need not become paranoid about it. My only concern is that your physician should rule out steven johnsons syndrome which is due to an immune system disorder mostly secondary to drugs like penicillin and sulphonamides. Clinical features are fever, sore throat, skin and mucosal lesions.

Does your MD know you are taking the sleep meds? If he doesn't, then he wouldn't know if the itching is caused by conflicting meds. You could ask your pharmacist, but s/he might just tell you to ask your MD anyway. It's worth finding out to avoid an unwanted drug interaction.
One of my sons had take amoxicillin for 7 years and then developed hives.
He no longer can take penicillin.

t be a reaction the first time, and each subsequent exposure increases the risk of reaction and severity. It sounds like an allergic response, so it would be wise to avoid the penicillins, and I would also ask for an allergy referral, because if she has a true allergy to an antibiotic, she should have a medic alert bracelet. If you are seeing swelling in the lips, it is possible that she could have an anaphylactic reaction in the future.
but my hands are still itching like crazy took a benydryl but all that did was make me sleepy and stopped taking the amoxicillin but its barely the first day that i stopped taking it. i will see how it is tomorrow. dont know what to put on my hands to stop the itching its crazy.!!
It does sound as if she is still having a reaction to the amoxicillin including the vomiting, it may be best and for peace of mind to speak to your pediatrician again, I am assuming that you discontinued the med.
