My mouth was extremely dry and irritated and white tongue and white near my tonsils. on 12/10/13 i returned to the ER and he prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate MG and Clotrinazole Troche 10 MG. my head ache, fatigue is gone. Now i have painful tiny clear blisters near my tonsils. I also have white on the back sides of my mouth and white tongue. The medication is gradually helping but not as fast as i wish. i feel something is stuck on my throat. Can you tell me what is occurring?

m not sure about being 27 as too old. I had mono twice while in college. I was supposed to be chilling out and relaxing but instead I continued to keep late hours and drank beer. When I was re-tested to see how I was doing, the results were worse! My parents almost took me out of college. With that threat, I promised to get rest, eat proper nutrition and no beer. I recovered without any complications. BTW, how do you know if you have Mono if you haven't seen a doctor?
I did take ibuprofen and amoxicillin-clavulenic acid antibiotic without medical prescription, out of worry and fear. The enlarged lymph node persisted for around 8 days before it completely disappeared. A few days later, I developed swelling of the submandibular lymph nodes beneath both sides of the jaw. It was NOT accompanied by sore throat or erythema of my tonsils, as confirmed by a doctor. These, too, disappeared a few days later.
I just read your question about the possible allergic reaction to Keflex. I had previously taken Keflex for mononucleosis at the age of 18 and and other things during my early 20's and never had a problem. A few years later when i was 28 I took it again. I had a terrible reaction. I had very large raised hives that started on the tops of my thighs, inside my arms and up my neck. My eyes were swollen and breathing became a task. I double dosed benendryl and went to ER.
Infectious mononucleosis is not as contagious as the flu, since the flu is an airborne pathogen and can travel greater distances and spread more rapidly to a wider area. Mononucleosis, by contrast, is transmitted only through direct contact with the person's saliva. However, you have to remember that your sister-in-law's immune system is depressed because of the chemotherapy, and she is more susceptible to catching pathogens which normal people would be more resistant to.
If I suspect Mono, and took a 3 day course of Amoxicillin (10 pills) and developed no rash, can I pretty much rule out mono?
Some sources state 80-90% of those taking Amoxicillin with Mono develop the rash, while I've even seen 99% as a percentage.
I actually want it to be Mono, instead of something worse, but I'm starting to fear the worst.
Have any of you had Mono, been misdiagnosed with Strep and took Amoxicillin, and NOT get the rash?

Today, nine days after beginning to feel sick, I visited my doctor and was prescribed Amoxicillin 875mg tabs to be taken twice a day for the next ten days. My doctor believes I have a sinus infection, hence the Amoxicillin prescription. I did not mention my unsafe sexual encounter to my doctor and I am not having any outward symptoms of any kind of STD.
My question is, can you tell me what if any STD the Amoxicillin would cure if I did contract one from my friend?

At first, my chest felt heavy and tight, I could not breath freely, and then I noticed that my sinuses may be slightly inflamed due to the fact that I have a crusty nose and slight sinus symptoms such as mild frontal headache and cheek ache, and waking up with a slightly sore throat. However there is little need to use tissue for my nose, and I'm not sneezing or coughing and I'm not really stuffed up at all.
I am trying to get my daughter to take Amoxicillin for a throat infection. She won't swallow the capsule. Is it ok to break the pink and blue A45 Amoxicillin capsule in half and mix it in applesauce?
This sounds like it has 100% to do with the Amoxicillin, and not Mono combined with Amoxicillin and so forth.
Amoxicillin can cause joint pain although this is not a common side effect, but can occur and should NOT be permanent, but temporary.
If this hasn't subsided, this definitely needs to be further investigated by your physician.

A guy I know had mononucleosis late last September. Got better by last week in October. He kissed a girl from late December to early January. I do not believe she ever showed signs or symptoms of mono. I kissed the same girl this past weekend, March 15th. How likely am I to contract mono? Could he have given it to her without her knowing? If she has already had it, would I still have a chance at contracting it? I do not know whether or not I have ever had mono.

I m 27 years old male. 3 weeks before I had sex with one unknown guy without condom. Now I found a painless sore on my penis shaft ( inside of foreskin ).

I had sinus infection and got Amoxicillin for it. Had diarrhea, then a rash all over stomach, back, thighs, then yeast infection. I stopped taking the Amoxicillin and the doctor told my husband I was allergic to Penicillin.
A week later I vomited several times and had cramping (like the stomach flu) and now my forehead has broken out with an itchy ***** rash like poison oak! Could the rash be associated with the Amoxicillin or the Sinus infection?
