I went in for a root canal and was given amoxicillin. Afterwards, I blew up with hives and swelling. My hands and feet were so swollen they hurt. My throat closed. I got steroids and the hives got better. Then the joint pain kicked in. My hands and right shoulder were so painful I couldn't use/move them. The symptoms would go away and return (the joint pain not hives). My shoulder hasn't bothered me lately but my hands and fingers still hurt.
Ahh thank you so much. I've seen that people get an allergy immediately, but I hadn't read about anyone developing an allergic reaction to it!!
my 9 month daughter had been put on amoxicillin for her sinus infection. when we started giving it to her, she seemed fine up until 2 weeks later then I noticed what looked like tons of mosquito
bites on her leg. couple days later, I noticed she had these red & white welts on her arm & was quickly spreading to her chest, back & up to her neck. I was panicing so i rushed her to the er & the doc said she had hives from the amoxicillin.
I put one on in the afternoon, and in the evening I noticed my thighs were speckled with hives. I had a few on my arms, and couple on my collarbone. I should add I think they started at work a few hours after I wore the pad, because I was sitting and noticed my ankles were incredibly itchy and had raised bumped. I haven't had hives since before high school.
Also, I started taking amoxicillin about two weeks ago for an ear infection.
my daughter tends to break out at random (she is 2) but the rashes / hives goes away after a couple of hours. We still have no idea what the allergy is.
Now she was diagnosed with an ear infection yesterday, she didn't see her normal doctor because her normal doctor was out of town, which is fine, I know the other doctor.

( maybe from anxiety) what worries me is that i have never had hives in my life. and i have also taken amoxicillin before and it did not cause that. i got tested today at my 28 day mark with hiv antibodies test as well as the hiv RNR test.
1. what is the likely hood that i cantracted HIV?
2. in your oppinion do these symptoms sound like ARS?
3. Do you think hives have anything to do with possible HIV infection?
4. Given the time frame is the testing i did considered conclusive?
s the weekend) told us he probably has a virus, treat it with benadryl every 6 hours and the hives should go away in 2-3 days. I find it strange that he has a virus and no other symptoms. No fever, no cough, no runny nose. Also, he has just started crawling, so I thought perhaps exposure to new chemicals (like in the carpet, etc.) could be causing this?
I have 4 days worth of amoxicillin left ( 3 500mg pills taken daily). My next appointment is this coming Tuesday.
It did not seem to itch or bother her but I took her to the doctor and they said it was just a side effect from the medication and should disapear in 4-5 days. Well it has now been a week and the spots are still there. And she woke up 2 nights ago because she had thrown up but went right back to sleep and hasn't had any problmes and felt great. But then she threw up this morning.
Mostly caused by antibiotics that was prescribed by the doctor (amoxicillin - inflamed tonsils) the rash came out of no where after two months, it looks like hives and spread almost all over my back, it is pinkish red and really itchy, it also spread on to both of my ars.. I just don't get it, I had protected sex!! All my symptoms appeared during the 10th week after exposure.. Is this rare case of ars??
We gave her benadryl Friday in the afternoon and at night and she just woke up again and is still covered in the rash. She also said her lip hurt last night and I noticed it is still a bit swollen. She also still has white spots on the back of her throat. A friend of mine said her daughter had strep and it turned to mono and the amoxicillin didn't "agree" with the mono.... Thanks for your help!
They put her on amoxicillin for the ear infection. After taking 3 doses of the amoxicillin she broke out in Hives on her hands, legs, and feet. She was taken off the amoxicillin but the rash has now continued for a week now. It will appear and last about 5 minutes and then it is gone. It almost looks like blisters coming up on her feet. I took her to the doctor again today (1 week later) and they told me that she has erytherma multiforme caused from the amoxicillin.
They didnt do a strep test but diagnosed me with strep and gave me amoxicillin. The next day I started breaking out in hives called the dr. and they said it sounds like i was alergic and to stop taking it.they sent domething else over and they continued getting worse. I went back to the dr and the did a blood test and it came back positive for mono....
My 12 year old son had a severe allergic reaction which lasted for just over 48 hours, despite 4 hourly doses of Piriton, even throughout the night. He was covered in inflamed, itchy hives, his lips swelled, his face was swollen & he was mildly short of breath. He also had mild diarrhoea, a headache & a sore throat (possible hives in his throat, as he certainly had them inside his mouth.) He was at school when the reaction started & we do not know what caused it.

You can take oral anti-histamines and applly calamine lotion.In severe cases a mild Corticosteroid ointment can be used.

Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
I just read your question about the possible allergic reaction to Keflex. I had previously taken Keflex for mononucleosis at the age of 18 and and other things during my early 20's and never had a problem. A few years later when i was 28 I took it again. I had a terrible reaction. I had very large raised hives that started on the tops of my thighs, inside my arms and up my neck. My eyes were swollen and breathing became a task. I double dosed benendryl and went to ER.
i am alergic to sulphur and i know that some alchol is filtered trew sulphur and contains sulfites is there any thing other then beer that i can safely drink because i would love to celebrate my 22 b-day at a bar with friends. last year i drank to smerinoffs for my 21st and i broke out from head to toe in hives. please help.......
If I suspect Mono, and took a 3 day course of Amoxicillin (10 pills) and developed no rash, can I pretty much rule out mono?
Some sources state 80-90% of those taking Amoxicillin with Mono develop the rash, while I've even seen 99% as a percentage.
I actually want it to be Mono, instead of something worse, but I'm starting to fear the worst.
Have any of you had Mono, been misdiagnosed with Strep and took Amoxicillin, and NOT get the rash?
Hello everyone. I'm a 42 year old male and I've been relatively healthy, but it seems as soon as I hit 40 things started going downhill. I developed Achilles tendonitis in my left leg, which after all kinds of physio therapy and stretches has still not been resolved 2 years later. I am now developing the same issue in my right leg, and also tennis elbow in my left elbow.
Today, nine days after beginning to feel sick, I visited my doctor and was prescribed Amoxicillin 875mg tabs to be taken twice a day for the next ten days. My doctor believes I have a sinus infection, hence the Amoxicillin prescription. I did not mention my unsafe sexual encounter to my doctor and I am not having any outward symptoms of any kind of STD.
My question is, can you tell me what if any STD the Amoxicillin would cure if I did contract one from my friend?

t taken another one and I am still itchy..no rashes or hives though. It has been over 48 hours since I took that one dose of the Clarithromycin and now I am wondering if it was caused by that at all. Maybe its just the fact that my skin is dry due to the weather. I do have pretty significant anxiety at times and I don't know if maybe I am just more aware of being itchy or if my anxiety could somehow be causing it.
