amitiza side effects drugs

My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?

Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.

I have been taking amitiza for a month now and it works great. I haven't had any of the side effects that everyone is talking about at all. When I take it though I always take it after I eat.

Do the new drugs come with their own side effects besides the ones that soc come with? Not sure if I asked that right, I'm still waiting for everything to come together but if the new meds come with even worse side effects than one might already get maybe that's another reason to treat now.

Have any of you tried Amitiza? My gastro doc wants to put me on that for my motility issues, but I don't like the side effects. Would love to hear from real people if they have taken it and their thoughts on it. I don't know of any other drugs used for motility besides Reglan, which I won't use. Thanks for any help!

This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach. In it's place she put me on 3 Metamucil tablets each morning and 1 Colace, then 1 Colace at night. We are trying this for 2/3 weeks and then maybe ease back in to the Amitiza.

GI Specialist sees no other options. If you have had the surgery, was it successful? Any long term side effects such as diarrhea?

As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. I have been to a neurologist and MRI came out negative. He was the one that prescribed Cymbalta, Topamax, and Lyrica. The side effects from the first two meds were worse than the illness itself. I took Lyrica for a month and didn't notice any change, whatsoever, good or bad. I've been referred to a rheumatologist so I'll follow that route. And I'll try milk of magnesia.

exactly how bad are side effects from the drugs used for treatment?? i mean will i be so sick from them that i cant function??

Lyrica is wonderful once you get passed the side effects,,usually takes a week,,,,,Also lyrica is a schedule 5 drug,,with Morphine componants

I have tried several different antipsychotics and keep getting bad side effects with them that have been so bad I can't take them. I have been on seroquel, risperdal, geodon, abilify, and currently on latuda. On the latuda if I take more than 40mgs I get akathisia real bad, but on the 40mgs I start rapid cycling. My doc said I could try saphris, but I am sick of trying these antipsychotics. He said then the next option would be to try lithium. I am currently on lamictal 200mgs, latuda 40mgs.

All can say is anything is possible with these harsh drugs. I have heard so many odd things from all the HCV drugs. Different combinations of the drugs, etc? What I found out over the years is, although there are common symptoms with these treatment drugs there are many more that are just odd. The side effects you mentioned with Amitiza actually sound like a reaction which is called Herxheimers or die-off. This and your overall sympyoms lead me to the thought you have either bacterial overgrowth (the gas causes the constipation), candida (ditto) or even parasites (they can block the colon completey, but cannot be seen with barium or ct scan or whatever).

I had many side effects. Headaches, severe heartburn accompanied with hiccups. Blisters and discoloration all over my tongue and back of my throat. By day 6 my feet and ankles were badly swollen and it was getting difficult to swallow. My doc said I was having a systemic reaction and to quit immediately.
