amitiza

605458 tn?1539228808 Is it to prevent a side effect, such as nausea, or does it have something to do with how the medication works?
Avatar n tn Having said all of the above there is one difference I noticed with the Amitiza and that is the medication has greatly reduced the syncope episode I was having during a bowl movement which were occurring about once a month. Since I have been prescribed a Amitiza, which was about six months ago, I only had one syncope incident which by itself is a help to me. I hope my brief exegesis helps.
974371 tn?1424653129 Hi, the most reported common side effect of amitiza is diarrhea. It can also cause abdominal distension, nausea and abdominal pain. It can also cause fecal incontinence. Like your doctor suggested you can continue this medications for a few more days before you give up this medication. Regards.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction. Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
Avatar n tn My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi Candy, I really don't know how common it is but I also have IBS that just keeps getting worse... I only have bowel movements once maybe twice a month... I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth.. Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication...
1704915 tn?1357601254 Not to mention the last experimental drug they put me on made me so sick I ended up missing a week of work and even leaving work early cause it made me feel like I had the flu. Laxatives have the same effect on me as they make the colon try to work and just make me sick in the process. Me and my husband both personally do not agree with this option even though the surgeon feels I should give it a shot.
Avatar m tn Ive been suffering from chronic constipation for approx 6 years now. I was first diagnosed with IBS but that doesn seem to be the case.. no medication or laxative have ever worked. I went for a colonoscopy last year, after taking movicol for 4 days prior and the prep to clean out the colon before the procedure, not much came out & there was still waste in the colon. Specialist reckons I have a slow moving colon, meaning it doesn push stuff out quick enough.
Avatar n tn This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
Avatar m tn Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me. You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
Avatar n tn I do not have any experience with Zyprexa. However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.
974371 tn?1424653129 t feel the emptying was that bad and wants to treat me for IBS with this drug plus Activia and Lactulose (prebiotic) but it says laxative and I am not really constipated. She wants to do a 24 hr test where the tube is put down your nose to your stomach. I had one done but she said this is different ( measures bile too ?) and it can only be done there which means another 4-5 hours driving back and forth 2days in a row!!!
Avatar n tn 2 x daily, Percocet 10-325 mg. 3 x daily, amitiza, mirilax, ambien, xanax, cymbalta, creon 20 w/meals, imitrex, treximet & frova as needed, robaxin, nexium, carafate, lisinopril, levothyroxine .25 mg., fosamax & folic acid, a multi vitamin, vitamin c & calcium daily. I have had over 15 endoscopies and ercp's one to stretch the common bile duct and I nearly bled to death after doctor told me I was just a drug seeker.
5276842 tn?1365878296 Get off the gluten completely and you may have remission or at least improvement in your fibromyalgia. For the constipation, what works for me best is a drug called Amitiza. It is not cheap, but it is less expensive than it used to be. I just take it every 3 days or so. I also use Miralax, which seems to be the same thing as your macrogol. I previously took amitriptyline as it kept my migraines away. Guess what ...
Avatar f tn I am not on any medication for the gastric distress they have described as epigastric pain. The last attact was sudden onset and quite severe. Not having a diagnosis at this point, I have concerns the pain will return. I've had mild abdominal pain for several months. I've lost more than 10 pounds since the symptoms worsened as my appetite decreased. Any suggestions for how to pursue a diagnosis at this point.
959341 tn?1246884689 he is a pharmacist and knowing how I do not like to jump onto a new drug he told me that the neurontin is so similar to lyrica that I should just stay on that drug. every time that I went on a new drug It ended up being pulled off the market. I would look into getting a script for that. good luck..
Avatar m tn Hi, The medication's generic name is "Nebivolol". It's Brand Name is Nebilet, you may have the spelling off a little. From what I read, the drug "is a so-called vasodilating beta blocker. Thus, in contrast to traditional beta blockers, it is more patient friendly in that it maintains systemic flow and blood flow to target organs, lowers vascular resistance, and has very little, if any, metabolic adverse effects," Messerli explained.
Avatar n tn I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...
Avatar f tn Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication. Yes, in most people it does make them very sleepy. 14 hours a night not abnormal for someone taking Seroquel if they are sensitive to it or new to the drug. May I suggest asking your P-doc about Seroquel XR. It is an extended release formula of the drug and should be easier for you to tolerate. Many people report that after switching to the XR formula that they can take it during the day once they get used to the drug.
Avatar n tn I cannot take this medication because of those side effects so purchase Domperidone through a Canadian drug company. Since I do this, insurance does not cover it. Also, I am very frustrated with the medical profession's lack of awareness regarding this disease.
