Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
Having said all of the above there is one difference I noticed with the Amitiza and that is the medication has greatly reduced the syncope episode I was having during a bowl movement which were occurring about once a month.
Since I have been prescribed a Amitiza, which was about six months ago, I only had one syncope incident which by itself is a help to me.

My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
Long story short, am now beginning treatment with Gabapentin ( just started and will gradually increase) and Amitiza,which seems to do nothing. On bad days, I use Tigan or Zofran for nausea. Today, I don't feel so bad but Saturday I was in bed all day horribly sick.i now eat very little and am losing more weight. Connection or not, this all seemed to start after treatment for a tooth infection with Clyndamicin. Oh, I was treated twice for SIBO, felt better and now worse again.
Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me.
You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.

IBS is not a disease at all, and there's no drugs for IBS, as I know (my opinion). Zelnorm was even withdrawn from the (U.S.) market last year, now it might be back again.
I am not on any medication for the gastric distress they have described as epigastric pain. The last attact was sudden onset and quite severe. Not having a diagnosis at this point, I have concerns the pain will return. I've had mild abdominal pain for several months. I've lost more than 10 pounds since the symptoms worsened as my appetite decreased. Any suggestions for how to pursue a diagnosis at this point.
I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
I have tried everything from high fiber diet, miralax, enemas, and I have been on Amitiza and Sentakot for three days and to no avail. I researched some on the internet and I am concerned that the gastrointestinal issues are from macrocyctic anemia (b-12 or pernicious anemia) from what I can figure from my symptons and blood work. What is the treatment for such? Whom would I see regarding this? What other methods will relieve the constipation? I am very miserable and feel awlful 24/7.
I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction.Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
hi everyone , im 24 male and have been having alot of stomach / intestine problems for about 6months , my doctor thinks its ibs and a stomach ulcer but any ibs treatment i,e antispasmodics he gives me makes everything werse , i disagree that i may have ibs because i have been using alot of pain medicine since june 2009 i,e codiene , tramadol ,ibuprofen and amitrtiptyline for a nerve condition i have so i believe that it could be something else , my gp is reluctant to reffer me to a specialist or
Was told to take stool softeners with generic vicodin daily to prevent constipation. While on medication, I had NO bowel movement for 1 week. Per pharmacist recommendation, I began taking an over-the-counter stimulant laxative daily, in combination with the non-laxative stool softener and generic vicodin. I also stopped eating meat, bananas, and cheese. However, I had NO bowel movement for another week, which equaled 2 total weeks with no bowel movement.
I also have to take a strong Rx medication - Amitiza - but due to the expense, you will want to avoid that if possible. It costs hundreds of dollars every month, but without it my system shuts down. Besides the long and twisted colon that a scope could not get through, I have Celiac disease.
For about six months I've been having muscle weakness and discomfort. I have this constant urge to stretch, but the stretching never helps with the discomfort. I also feel like my wrists are always clenched and they sometimes hurt. Also, when I'm lying down my arms have this really weak tired feeling. I suffer with IBS, I have had it since a young age, anyway! I can sometimes become constipated, I do eat lots of Fresh fruit and Veg, I don't eat high sugar sweets/junk food!
Ive been suffering from chronic constipation for approx 6 years now. I was first diagnosed with IBS but that doesn seem to be the case.. no medication or laxative have ever worked. I went for a colonoscopy last year, after taking movicol for 4 days prior and the prep to clean out the colon before the procedure,not much came out & there was still waste in the colon. Specialist reckons I have a slow moving colon, meaning it doesn push stuff out quick enough.
