Allegra vs sudafed

Common Questions and Answers about Allegra vs sudafed

allegra

Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and can usually get away with just Zyrtec but this year they are way worse and my doc told me to switch it up and try Claritin or Allegra the Allegra seems to work the best when I also take a sudafed but don't take the combo one just plan Allegra and plain sudafed.
Avatar f tn If you need to, just take the sudafed. I was miserable for 2 weeks with some cold virus going around and had to take afrin, sudafed, and allegra around the clock or i couldn't function. If the benefit outweighs the risk then go for it.
1646392 tn?1333251893 I am 14.5 weeks pregnant. I have had problems with congestion since 8 weeks. Since about 11 weeks, it has been unmanageable. I have done sinus rinses, nose strips, sudafed, benedryl at night, vicks rub, and zyrtec. I can get about two hours of sleep at night before I wake up with my nose running and nose clogged. My husband has started sleeping the guest room because I keep him up at night. I tend to go through a roll of toilet paper blowing my nose in two to three nights.
1663704 tn?1302912377 I have had fluid behind my eardrum since September 2010. My physician looked and saw fluid behind my eardrum and said it's caused from allergies or sinuses. I do have allergies and postnasal drainage. I was prescribed Flonase for 30 days, which didn't work, then prescribed a 7 day steroid medication, this didn't help either. I have tried Allegra D, Mucinex D, Mucinex, Sudafed, Sudafed PE, Afrin, etc. I am currently trying Zyrtec.
503607 tn?1275671579 t take Allegra anymore, nor Claritin, nor Aerius or Zyrtec. Also, no Sudafed and ones like that. He said I really shouldn't take anything with a heart arrhythmia, except to use a saline nasal spray from the pharmacy. That doesn't do much, but is better than nothing. When I get congested, my ears plug and I get dizzy. I really wish I felt I could safely take something, but am afraid to do so.
Avatar f tn I felt quite tired/weird dizzy though this wedding so I obviously overdosed. I remember that I use to take things like hismanol and sudafed which have since been banned as they have been found to be dangerous. Could this have caused me any long term permanent damage? A few years ago my dr found a strong heart murmur which is being monitored. Apparantly I have a small hole that they cant see on ultrasound. Could the allergy medication have done this?
Avatar f tn I recently developed a cough that contains a bright green mucous. I was diagnosed with a sinus infectiona couple weeks ago and prescribed doxycyline and a z pack. I started feeling better so I stopped taking the antibiotic. I then began to develop fluid in my ears and a stuffy nose. I took a decongestant and stopped taking my daily allegra. I seemed to feel better for a few.days. I've never had a fever or headache with any of this.
Avatar m tn Can allergies cause swollen throat, tight chest, shortness of breath ?? Each morning I wake up, I start to hack up mucus all day long, my throat feels really harsh like sand paper friction when I swallow, throat is swollen, tight chest, shortness of breath and feel as if I have a noose around my neck from muscle stiffness, and my nostrils are always swollen.
Avatar n tn ve been vertigo free for three years, on Valtrex daily. That is til today. I guess I needed to up the Valtrex when I get really congested along with a Sudafed/ Allegra D to dry out. There is a blood test for the Herpes 1 which I was positive for.
Avatar f tn ve tried 3 different antibiotics for sinus infection. Also tried flonase, allegra, and Sudafed. Nothing seems to help. I feel pressure mostly in my forehead. I don't have any congestion with mucus or anything. I've had a sinus x-ray, CT scan, and MRI, which were all fine and showed nothing wrong with sinuses. I usually clean my ears out with a q tip after showering. I used to get some wax out, however, after this started, I can't get any wax out.
633143 tn?1262133535 I have taken everything that my doctors have recommended and everything that they haven’t – Mucinex, Sudafed, Benadryl, Claritin, Tylenol Sinus, etc, etc. Antihistamines help a little but only for a few hours, and because of my job I can’t afford to be tired or loopy during the day. Mucinex has been working the best (taking it every night before bed), but it’s not taking it away. I’m still waking up with the draining and feeling very sick to my stomach.
Avatar f tn Im 6 months and I am so congested and have ear ache, is it safe to take sudafed????
Avatar f tn I've been sick off and on a lot with my sinuses my ob told me to take sudafed so I'm taking the nasal decongestant sudafed that the pharmacy said was safe. My concern is I haven't heard good things about taking it anyone else taking it and everything turned out ok with their baby? 29weeks tomorrow also.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me a list of medications safe to take during pregnancy. Sudafed is ok to take, but it says for a cold, so I would assume Sudafed Cold and Cough. For allergies, it says Benadryl our loratidine, which is generic for Claritin.
Avatar f tn I am a 13 year old girl and I have been taking sudafed for 4 days now and OI was just awoken shaking uncontrollably could this be why? This discussion is related to shaking at night when I wake up in the middle of the night.
Avatar f tn So my Dr told me to take Sudafed for this head cold. However, they were adamant that I make sure I get the kind we have to sign for and not the OTC one. I was wondering why because I know the one we sign for has the stuff that people use to make meth but the OTC stuff does not. So what is the difference?
Avatar f tn After getting a URI over a month ago I took Antibiotics and thought I kicked it but shortly after the course of Ab's was completed I continued to suffer from congestion, cough, increasing sinus pressure, sneezing (frequently in sets of a half dozen or more), scratchy throat, insanely clogged ears where I feel as if I'm hearing underwater and cannot pop-yawn my left ear for over 5 days now.
Avatar n tn I asked my pharmacist today because I have the same allergy issues - je said Lortadine OTC is perfectly safe (Claritin) just NO Sudafed or Psuedaphedrine (Claritin D or Allegra D). He also said my Flonase is safe. I take both on bad days, but I also diffuse OnGuard Essential Oil which helps tremendously as well. Hope that helps you!
Avatar n tn ve taken every allergy and sinus medication I can get (Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, Sudafed) and am on asthma medication to help but it still doesn't do much. I'm also recently on acid reflux medication.
Avatar n tn (sorry) or if I take the steroid I can cough up huge yellow inch long mucus plugs. I take Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, Flonase and singular, albuterol nebs and inhaler, also famotidine 2x daily I was on advair for 2months and he said stop because it did nothing for me other than change sputum from slimy to chunky and is quite pricey for no results.
Avatar m tn Well I have had Hashimoto for the past 10 years, and I also have had allergy problems and have taken Allegra D for the past 4 years. I don't think allegra had anything to do with my hashimoto/hypothyroid.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm a 27 year-old male living in Los Angeles, CA. For the past 6 months (maybe longer!) I've been experiencing chronic forehead / sinus pressure on my behind my eyes, and behind my nose and on my forehead. At first I thought I had a classic case of sinusitis (I wish..) and was given several courses of antibiotics. When that didn't work I visited a neurologist, who gave me an ENT, CatScan, Sinus and Brain Scans all of which came out fine.
Avatar n tn My doctor said I have seasonal allergies 8 months ago. A few weeks ago, I was outside (feeling fine) had a sneezing attack which left me feeling sick like turning on a light switch (runny nose, sinus pressure, watery eyes, sneezing). I finally began to feel much better this week until the filter on my vacuum cleaner came off and spilled all over the carpet. I immediately began having these violent sneezing fits....very messy!
Avatar m tn In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.
