Avatar f tn I use zyertec and benadryl. My doctor has said they are both safe. Check with your doctor they should have an approved list of meds you can take.

Avatar f tn Or I get prescribed mucinex, which makes me irritable, unable to sleep properly, and have horrific nightmares or allegra, which gives me hives. I have tried everything possible over the counter, but nothing works. My left ear is stopped up too now as well. I have used the neti pots and sinus rinses too.
Avatar f tn Over that time I tried many different over the counter medicines and overtime had to get things stronger by perscription. Nothing really solved the problem, then in my late 20s someone introduced me to aloe vera juice 100%.
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and was wondering if I could take over the counter allergy medication? My nose is itchy, eyes are watering, I'm constantly sneezing. It's getting super annoying. I attempted to contact my OB but she never called me back. Does anyone know if I can or can't. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn I am almost certain this is a yeast infection. You can buy over the counter medicines that will take care of this.
Avatar m tn I would try some OTC allergy meds like Claritin or Allegra. If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID. I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes.
Avatar n tn I may have an allergy, such as hay fever. I have taken over the counter drugs....Claritin and Allegra. They do not help at all. Symptoms include, watery, burning and itchy eyes. Itchy nose. extreme drowsiness. almost unable to function as I should. I am 74 years old.
Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with any over the counter depression medicine that works well?
Avatar f tn That can sometimes work. Zyrtec and allegra are examples and can be purchased over the counter. There is also a cream that has Benadryl in it called Caladryl which is known to help. It's been such a long time since surgery to still have this but I'd give these things a try. If she has pruritis due to starch in products used when the cardiac bypass machine is used, there is topical capsaicin which is supposed to work when other things fail.
Avatar f tn I used to have them prescribed, but the prescription cost on the nhs was higher then buying them over the counter. .. I normally have zertec or cetrizeane (I think one of them is the same as pyrtine) ... my first appointment isn't for over a week yet, but.this is on my long list of questions to ask when I get there. Thank you for your help!
Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old male. Four weeks ago, I came down with what seemed to be a cold. I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased.
Avatar f tn She can also take an over the counter antihistamine like allegra (look for generic name). Then if all else fails, she can try pseudoephedrine (which in the US, you have to ask a pharmacist for but it IS over the counter. They keep it behind the pharmacist counter and will give it to you but they limit how much someone can have as it is used to make a street drug. Fine when used properly). Anyway, those things really helped me and once the vertigo was cleared up, the stomach issues were too.
Avatar m tn part is important because it is a decongestant. It is available as an over-the-counter drug in most states. However, it will also keep some people awake especially when they first start taking it. I took it for a long time prior to treatment and it doesn't bother me anymore but still. Your hubby should ask for help with getting some sleep. Some folks here take ambien (a prescription). I did too Sleep is really important to your well being in treatment. Good luck to you and your husband.
Avatar m tn Hi there, My son is 17 and having an awful time with seasonal allergies, Zyrtec seems to help a little, smae with allegra Benadryl helps more but he still looks and feels miserable. His eyes are intchy and red and his nose is runny and congested at same time with what he describes as a "itchy feeling" behind the bridge of his nose.
7639611 tn?1392877261 Apply a good moisturizer three to four times a day and use a mild soap with good quantity of skin softening ingredients (called emollients). You also get medicated emollient soaps over the counter which you can use. Keeping a humidifier in room is a good idea. You can also drink water, warm and clear soups, warm lemonade etc to hydrate your skin. Applying a cool compress on the affected areas also soothes the skin. You can also take an over the counter anti-allergy pill to reduce the itch.
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies also. Even got a sinus infection this time ! Benadryl didn't do anything to me but what you can take is over the counter benadryl, zyrtec, and claritin. zyrtec works better.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks).Take Over the counter antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin.Sometimes double conventional doses of non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrcet), Loratadine(Claritin) and Fexofenadine may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(benadryl) or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control.
Avatar m tn Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. 865758 tn?1285952904 t help what did work was univert pills which settled my heart rate down to a healthy level but was told that was for a ear infection i did have vertigo but i think swimming had an impact on that i still have the increased heart rate. my guess is that i need allegra over the counter pills.
1646392 tn?1333251893 I have the EXACT same problems as you during my pregnancies. I have tried zyrtec, allegra, claritin, etc, etc. claritin does ok. I also found that actual psuedoephedrine (the kind you have to get from the pharmacy desk) works much better than the sudafed phenylephrine. Something else I have found that amazingly works WONDERS for unclogging the most clogged sinus....I think it's called "4 way" it's a sinus spray you can buy over the counter.
Avatar n tn Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
