I finished 3 courses of antibiotics in last two months, levofloxasin, norfloxasin, and Cefixime. Then I showed to a urologist in the last week and he put me on 30 days course of Alfuzosin. Not sure if is the antibiotics or the Alfuzosin that has worked but I am feeling 90% better now but the frequent urination persists. Erection feels uncomfortable and still mild pain at the penis tip sometimes.
My penis head and the vein were slightly swollen as well. There were really no other symptoms than that. I went and had all STD tests done except for Herpes in November and came back negative.
Recently, I went to the Urologist, who said I may have Prostatitis. He prescribed me Levofloxacin and Alfuzosin for 30 days. I'm about two weeks in now.
Last week I noticed a small bump on the head of my penis, and my meatus (pee hole) seemed inflamed on the right hand side.

Your test results are quite confusing, actually. The medicines wouldn't have an impact on your test results, no. So are you absolutely certain you tested negative for HSV 1 3 months ago? And you've not had sex with anyone else besides your wife? Does she have HSV 1, do you know?
Two weeks is really quick to have an increase to 6.8. i"m a little confused by that. Have you had no symptoms whatsoever?

Flomax is used for the treatment of BPH and if you are having side effects to this drug then you can use other alpha blockers like doxazosin, terazosin, alfuzosin or 5 alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride.
Effects may take longer to appear than alpha blockers, but they persist for many years. But they are available under prescription and should always be taken under a medical guidance.

I am on medications again the improvement is markedly less than the previous course. Am on 5th day of Doxy and Cefuroxime Clav. Along with Alfuzosin and Amitriptyline. This time course is of 10 days duration. I got extremely weak with joint pain which has improved. My current symptoms are pelvic penile n lower back pain and weakness.I have shown to 3 Urologists , all saying epididymitis. And also saying it may not be related to STD.
Medications called alpha one adrenergic antagonist are usually prescribed for the stent discomfort. They are terazosin, doxazosin, tamsulosin and alfuzosin. Sometimes anticholinergic medications like oxybutynin (ditropan), detrol or vesicare may help. Please consult your doctor, he will prescribe appropriate medications for you.

I had acted on your suggestion and had consulted urologist.He had alfuzosin. It took almost three months. I also added Zolpidem to alprazolam (for Insomnia) Now i can sleep much better. Bathroom visits are almost normal.After many years I could normalize my B visits.Your suggestion helped me. My brother who is at Ohio and who is a psychiatrist advised me to add zolpiden for insomnia. With less bath room visits it has heped. thanks again.
50 y/o male. Last summer, started passing small (poppy seed sized) stones, 2-3mm.
Ultrasound tests revealed nothing. Was told to drink water. Stones became larger and numerous. CT scan that revealed numerous stones in my bladder. Urologist said stones were forming in bladder. Stones are uric-acid based. My prostate was probably enlarged. Stones continued to grow in size, passing one 1-2 wks. Was given Sodium Citrate. 2 months later, passed 5mm stone.
The urologist put me on daily dose of Minocycline Hydrochloride. He also gave me Alfuzosin Hydrochloride (alpha blocker) as a suppliment, but later advised me against it as I started feeling heavy headedness and tiredness.
In the meantime, I had intercourse with my wife. I guess for 2-3 times she observed itching in her genitals and also discharge of curd-like fluid (yeast??) which lasted for 3-4 days and then went off.
I forgot to mention that I'm taking Bactrium and alfuzosin hcl er could those medication influence the result ?

Roughly two years ago I started experiencing pain in my left testicle. After visiting the doctor he diagnosed me with Epididymitis. I was prescribed a round of anitbiotics and after 30 days it appeared to go away. This started in April and was cleared up by July. Following year, same thing. In April began having that pain along with some difficulty sitting.
(Specific) Problem / Symptoms: Since March 2011 I have had left testicular pain (sharp or burining) centered around what I can best describe as the spermatic cord or epidimitis and pain radiates along the left side of the pernium. Pain is greatest when testicle is being constricted, particularly painful in the process of being constricted. Putting on clothing, squatting and during cremasteric reflex is very painful.
To treat it, he gave me a two week prescription of Alfuzosin (alpha blocker to help promote blood flow to the prostate) and a one week MethylPred pack (steroid). now i went to manipal hospital, i met an urologist.he listened to my symptoms (frequent urination , painful ejaculation, a constant mild stabbing pain in me left hip region,pain in my rectum which would increase on prolonged sitting / sitting on hard surfaces / riding bike / jumping) and diagnosed me with prostratitis.Now am shocked to know that i have prostatitis.I TOOK TREATMENT FOR INTERNAL HEMORRHOIDS AND ENDED UP BEING A PROSTRATITIS PATIENT.
5 mm is in the lower ureter and 3 mm in the left kidney. Since then I am drinking lots of water. I am taking Alfuzosin since last two days. For the last week I am having no pain and I am not taking any painkiller. My Dr says he will wait for ten days for the stone to fall else it has to be removed. Has the stone passed the ureter as I am not having any pain ? Can I wait more before removing it ? Is it necessay to forcebly remove it ? What can be done for the 3 mm stone laying in the kidney ?
