Avatar f tn Medications called alpha one adrenergic antagonist are usually prescribed for the stent discomfort. They are terazosin, doxazosin, tamsulosin and alfuzosin. Sometimes anticholinergic medications like oxybutynin (ditropan), detrol or vesicare may help. Please consult your doctor, he will prescribe appropriate medications for you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn 5 mm is in the lower ureter and 3 mm in the left kidney. Since then I am drinking lots of water. I am taking Alfuzosin since last two days. For the last week I am having no pain and I am not taking any painkiller. My Dr says he will wait for ten days for the stone to fall else it has to be removed. Has the stone passed the ureter as I am not having any pain ? Can I wait more before removing it ? Is it necessay to forcebly remove it ? What can be done for the 3 mm stone laying in the kidney ?
Avatar m tn 50 y/o male. Last summer, started passing small (poppy seed sized) stones, 2-3mm. Ultrasound tests revealed nothing. Was told to drink water. Stones became larger and numerous. CT scan that revealed numerous stones in my bladder. Urologist said stones were forming in bladder. Stones are uric-acid based. My prostate was probably enlarged. Stones continued to grow in size, passing one 1-2 wks. Was given Sodium Citrate. 2 months later, passed 5mm stone.
Avatar f tn I finished 3 courses of antibiotics in last two months, levofloxasin, norfloxasin, and Cefixime. Then I showed to a urologist in the last week and he put me on 30 days course of Alfuzosin. Not sure if is the antibiotics or the Alfuzosin that has worked but I am feeling 90% better now but the frequent urination persists. Erection feels uncomfortable and still mild pain at the penis tip sometimes.

Avatar m tn I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin . Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago. I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive. Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
Avatar m tn Hello, Flomax is used for the treatment of BPH and if you are having side effects to this drug then you can use other alpha blockers like doxazosin, terazosin, alfuzosin or 5 alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride. Effects may take longer to appear than alpha blockers, but they persist for many years. But they are available under prescription and should always be taken under a medical guidance. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar n tn Since March 2011 I have had left testicular pain (sharp or burining) centered around what I can best describe as the spermatic cord or epidimitis and pain radiates along the left side of the pernium. Pain is greatest when testicle is being constricted, particularly painful in the process of being constricted. Putting on clothing, squatting and during cremasteric reflex is very painful.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?

Avatar m tn Available drugs include doxazosin, terazosin, alfuzosin and tamsulosin. Older drugs, phenoxybenzamine and prazosin are not recommended for treatment of BPH.[5] Alpha-blockers relax smooth muscle in the prostate and the bladder neck, and decrease the degree of blockage of urine flow. Alpha-blockers may cause ejaculation back into the bladder (retrograde ejaculation). The 5α-reductase inhibitors (finasteride and dutasteride) are another treatment option.
Avatar m tn Is it common for a patient to have back spasms when they have a kidney stone? The doctor said he felt and saw the back spasms. Could it have been kidney spasms if there is such a thing?
Avatar f tn I am on medications again the improvement is markedly less than the previous course. Am on 5th day of Doxy and Cefuroxime Clav. Along with Alfuzosin and Amitriptyline. Avatar n tn In a person who has MSK, treatment mainly focuses on curing existing infection, removing any stones if present and preventing future urine infection and stone formation. Dietary changes and adequate intake of fluids may be helpful. It is best to consult an urologist and get your doubts clarified. Discuss your concerns with your treating doctor and do write to me again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn Not sure if there is another stone that followed and is stuck, but I have tingling every minute or so that happens in the tip of my urethra, inside, and also tingles in what feels like my prostate. It lasts for a few seconds then goes away. Happens every minute. My penis overall is quite sensitive right now. I've urinated about 5 times since the last clot and no blood or anything, unless it's microscopic.

15905440 tn?1443863328 I had what I think was my first kidney stone back in January 2015 just after my 19th birthday, I say that I think it was my first one as I had never thought about any previous abdominal pain as being a stone and I only knew I had a kidney stone then because I had multiple scans in hospital as doctors were looking for the cause of my kidney infection. I had surgery to break up the 6mm stone and had a stent put in that I had to remove myself the day after surgery, I made a full recovery.
Avatar f tn 0% persons of group NBNC, 5.4% in group B and 11.7% in group C. The prevalence of gallbladder stone in group C was found especially high for age groups 31-40 years and 61-70 years. The prevalence of bile duct stone was higher in group C (0.4%) than in group NBNC or B (both 0.1%). Stepwise logistic regression analysis showed that age, liver cirrhosis, body mass index, hepatitis C virus infection and gender were independent factors associated with gallbladder stone.
