Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?

Avatar f tn Almost 2 years ago I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed, ever since I have had problems with my jaw. My jaw now pops, clicks, grinds, and makes crunching noises as well as locks. It causes me a lot of pain at times and seems to now be very sensitive to cold weather. I also notice that when opening and closing my mouth it seems like the alignment of my jaw is wrong, the right side appears to pop out when my mouth opens and the left does not.
Avatar m tn It was the weekend I had antibiotics of my husbands (enough for 3 days)I was sure this was an infection.I made an appt w/the oral surgeon . My jaw felt dislocated I couldnt chew and could barely open my mouth. The oral srgeon said it was tmj and that when a tooth is extracted sometimes there is inflamation in the joint he compared it to a disk in a back . I was told to use warm moist heat and given muscle relaxers.
Avatar f tn July morning I got up with a severe jaw pain, went to the hospital emergency (in Sweden). My BP and EKG was normal, but Tropomine level was elevated. After one day observation and Angiography the doctor found a 90% blockage in the right coronary artery. Immediate Angioplasty was done and a medicated stent was placed. After 2 days I came home with prescriptions of Clopidogrel 75mg, Metoprololtartrate 50mg, Acetylsalycylic Acid 75 mg. and Simvastatin 40mg. My Total cholesterol was 5.
Avatar n tn Because the pressure never dissipated I started to do what i could to relieve it, which was opening my jaw as wide as I could, and clenching it as hard as I could, which would help to relieve the pressure temporarily. I then switched primary care doctors and he said I have TMJ, "theres nothing I can do and I won't give you a referral to an ENT.
Avatar m tn My TMJ specialist says he grades my condition as a 3-B out of 5. I can move my jaw normally to the left but only 5cm to the right. My right side being above and behind the condyle. Would this cause ringing and a sense of fullness in both ears? Also, my ears have been popping for several months. I went to an ENT for ETD. How does my TMJ cause this popping? Does it affect the eustachian tube or am I hearing something else?
Avatar n tn I have for about a month feeling pain in chest, face, jaw and weakness in my left arm. My doctor did a ekg, but saw nothing. What could it be?
Avatar f tn I am currently still getting my jaw adjusted. As a result I have a situation where I get a little dizzy and very exhausted after I have sung for an hour. I lost my voice completely last fall. When the orthodontist adjusted my jaw back, my voice came back. But if I sing for any length of time, my vocal chords don't hurt, but I feel like a nerve is over stimulated resulting in mild dizziness and exhaustion.
698356 tn?1240150727 Hi Rachel....I also am a member of the night mouth piece club...lol When I am low on thyroid hormone my jaw aches really bad. Once I get optimal again, it does let up a lot. Your right....the price of our "appliances" is outrageous! Do you use warm moist heat packs on your jaw?? It usually helps me.
4922507 tn?1361076248 The tooth taken out was a baby tooth - I have congenitally missing 2nd premolars on my lower jaw. The extraction seems to go straightforward although i needed a double dose of local anaesthetic, as the first lot didnt seem to take even after about 20 mins waiting. all was well at first. However since the extraction I am suffering from insomnia and just recently I have felt a pain increase.
Avatar n tn For this you need RCT (Root Canal Therapy). And after this you need to be proper care of your teeth and root canal also.

Avatar f tn At times my jaw and this pain in my head are so nagging, at almost makes me crazy. I was wondering if braces would help. My bite is so off to one side, I just would like some help. I live in a really small town with not much available to me in the way of professional help. Is an ortho. my best bet for help?
Avatar f tn I walked for an hour daily and practiced yoga for the last 35 years. On the 03.07.2011, I got up with jaw pain coming and going. Considering a check up, I went to hospital emergency. Although my BP and EKG was normal, troponine was slightly elevated. In the evening, while the doctor was checking, I got an attack in front of him. Immediately I got some medicines along with nitroglycerine under the tongue. The pain subsided in 15 minutes. Next day angioplasty was done.
Avatar f tn I am also taking Aromasin for bc. Stopped alendronate (I am osteopenic due to 30 yrs of prednisolone and Arimidex) in case this caused the oesophagitis. Would appreciate your advice.
