Avatar f tn I heard yesterday that Boniva would cause eye disorders called uveitis and sleraderma? Does this bone medicine cause eye problems? I have an eye disorder called Fuchs cornea dystrophy and have recently had cataract surgery in both eyes ;however one eye keeps feeling irritated.
Avatar m tn Google Osteonecrosis of the jaw, many drugs like Fosomax have bad side effects. A friend lost several teeth and parts of her jaw due to this. She eventually had to have cadaver bone to replace the bone she lost, then implants. She should take other types of calcium supplements.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm sorry, first of all, that your mom is having the sleeping problems. In the end, that affects every day because without a decent sleep, it is hard to function. I liked the honey and milk and that solution as it sounds nice and natural which I wish everything could be to help all of us with medical issues. However........just in case it does not work........I would suggest that first of all, mom has a COMPLETE workup with blood tests, urine tests, etc.

Avatar f tn I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
Avatar f tn It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.
Avatar n tn I am constantly waking up all night because I cannot wear my CPAP mask due to these problems. And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. 1026267 tn?1257591273 Boniva is perscribed both ways and I have neglected to ask the doctor why she perscribed the daily one. When I asked pharacist about the price (last year) it was $200/mo regardless of whether it was taken daily or monthly. Now that I have a different perscription plan, Endo thinks I should check the price again. It isn't just the price that is making me anxious, it is the fact that I wonder if it is a sure preventative.

Avatar n tn dental work - there are blackbox warnings about osteonecrosis of the jaw (bone death) The mother of a woman that I worked with took Fosamax for a few months and her teeth began to loosen - an oral surgeon had to pull teeth from a quadrant of her mouth and add some sort of bone replacement. The oral surgeon who did my root canal 2 years ago told me (reluctantly) agreed that the bone drugs are becoming controversial.
Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn I have had several root canals and all have failed- except one. I had two bridges break off. I wanted to get implants but read that it's not advisable for Lyme patients. I used to have a horrible crawling and tingling sensation on and around my left ear. I also had what I called "Picasso Vision" where my vision would fragment into three or four sections with strobing wavy lines and flashing lights. The ear and eye problems would come and go for no particular reason. My D.O.
Avatar m tn Yes, my teeth and gums were damaged from GERD. I noticed the enamel on my teeth was eroding and quickly forming black spots, a very upsetting thing. I went to my dentist and he and his staff eliminated the possibility of having an eating disorder (people who force themselves to vomit get bad teeth and gums) and GERD was the primary suspect of my issues.

Avatar n tn Up till now I have always passed some tissue paper over my teeth between moments to keep the acid off and then brushed my teeth after each session, but have recently read that this makes matters worse! Is this true? How can I tell if there has been any damage? What can I do to limit the damage, to keep the enamel safe? Is there anything I can put on my teeth to strengthen it? any medicine or something? Is it true that once the enamel is gone it can NEVER be restored?
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?

Avatar f tn I was told that it would worsen after the chemo (carbo/taxoterre), and it did. Not terribly, but a decrease in bone mass just that same. I started on Boniva and my cholesterol shot up about 120 points. I just stopped that recently and my numbers dropped by 80 points. Seems there are downsides for everything. Now taking Viactiv with vitamins D & K, 3 chews a day. Will have another bone density next April. I also am fairly physically active and hope that will help.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar n tn Behind your thyroid are 4 little glands each the size of a grain of rice called your parathyroid glands. These glands control your calcium levels in your entire body. How much calcium are you taking a day? Did your doctor tell you to take calcium supplements? Do your calcium supplements contain Vitamin D? Your body needs Vitamin D to absorb calcium. One sign of hypocalcemia is tingling in the fingers, toes, and around your lips.
Avatar n tn Then this morning I went for two fillings and was told he saw one more filling and I should get two wisdom teeth out. This is also six months from my original visit (I was away on holidays for 2months), and according to my first visit he said my teeth would be agony by now. A few days ago I also found out that my friend, who goes to the same private dentist as myself was told they needed eight fillings. Coincidence? I'm worried now that the dentist may possibly be doing it for the money?
