Avatar m tn The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar m tn The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. Fosamax has also been prescribed to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Brand name Fosamax is manufactured in the United States by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.

Avatar n tn Can reflux esophagitis cause chest pain? I have grade C esophagitis due to reflux. Could it be the cause of the chest pain I have been experiencing. The chest pain is not really worrisome as it is not excruciating, it is just annoying. Also, is tea any better than coffee for reflux?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, Shortly after the birth of my second child I started to experience burn/dull ache in my chest, along with major weight loss- i had a c-section and was on pain killers, not sure this was the culprit. I had a scope and was diagnosed with esophagitis. Thing is before the diagnosis I never had any heartburn or signs of discomfort- it literally came of of nowhere.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 53 and have had on/off GERD symptoms- sometimes severe- for about 17 years. About 2 years ago I had an endoscopy done and was diagnosed with chronic mild esophagitis and they gave me 40 mg of omeprazole for 8 weeks. After that, I started on 20 mg every day and have been on that dose regularly and still had a day or two every couple of weeks with a GERD flair up. About 3 weeks ago I developed some lower GI issues with constipation, nausea, cramps, and was pretty sick for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I have read in an article (by John P. Cello, M . D., Ph.D.) that “An acute AIDS esophagitis has been reported in eight patients during the primary infection (ARS).” Today I went to a Doctor and I was diagnosed with esophagitis which according to him is due to reflux (that is why I have a sore throat). The symptoms started 2 weeks after my exposure (being fingered in my anus, causing great damage, with lots of pre-cum on the finger).
Avatar n tn I've had on-and-off mild nausea, including two episodes of vomitting. To check for possible gallbladder problems I had an abdominal ultrasound. The report showed a normal gallbladder but "inhomogeneous pancreas". The doctor has ordered amylase, lipase, and liver function blood work. I have been on proton pump inhibitors for years for GERD and eosiniphilic esophagitis. It's weeks before I can see the gastroenterologist.

Avatar f tn Non-erosive esophagitis disease (NERD) may be the most 'common' form of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) considering what some research results are suggesting. Most people with NERD are defined as those having the classic symptoms of GERD without showing any evidence of esophageal mucosal (lining) injury.
Avatar f tn I am also taking Aromasin for bc. Stopped alendronate (I am osteopenic due to 30 yrs of prednisolone and Arimidex) in case this caused the oesophagitis. Would appreciate your advice.
1367773 tn?1286721774 Hurting, have you checked out the website: http://www.apfed.org/ee.htm? EE can be very complex and to help to handle it, you may need to talk with a specialist in this problem. To my knowledge, EE can not progress to other conditions. It is an 'entity' all of its own.
Avatar n tn My 13 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The treatments of which has been the use of Flovent and an elemental diet (Elecare) have not been working. Her symptoms are immediate regurgetation or vomiting of EVERYTHING SHE EATS OR DRINKS. Water, vitamins, anything that goes in comes right back out. She has lost amlost 30 lbs but is somehow remaining steady for about a month now, thank God.
Avatar n tn The underlying cause chest pain can be gastrointestinald disorders that includes ulcers, esophagitis, reflux or heartburn can also produce chest pain. Alcohol, smoking, caffeine and spicy foods may contribute to these symptoms. Bloating from gas, esophagitis, reflux or heartburn can also produce chest pain. Hope this helps, and thanks for sharing.
