The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. Fosamax has also been prescribed to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Brand name Fosamax is manufactured in the United States by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
I am concerned about taking mtx and budesonide concurrently as I had steroid induced psychosis when dx with breast cancer Jan 2003. He said I have some serious decisions to make about resection of strictures but need to put on some weight beforehand. Do you think this treatment plan is correct? Was dx with Crohn's 1970, now PanCrohn's Colitis. I am also taking Aromasin for bc.
I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
I was diagnosed last year with stage IIIB breast cancer. I have already gone through the chemo treatments - bilateral masectomy, radiation - finishing up in a few months with Herceptin. I started to take Tamoxifen a couple of months ago - I've been experiencing bad headaches - hot flashes (these are to be expected).
The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density?

Hello, I don't have chrones but have recurrent ovarian cancer. I have had both small bowel and large bowel resected and I now have chronic diarrhea/malabsorption syndrome as a result. My b12 was very very low and I am gettiing injections now. This is probably vain but I am loosing so much hair, it is falling out everywhere, I guess because of b12 deficiency. I am wondering how long before this stops now my b12 levels are ok again.
thankyou,i am with contact of my doctor ,he said there is no solution for damaged vertibras,but calcium and vitiman d and alendronate sodium/cholecaiciferol tablets will help spine and bones from further damages but what to do with prednisones i cant stop them because of asthma and taking of them will damage other bones isnt there any other solution instead of prednisones, i know there is nothing accept these because my doctor told me:(

Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.
Alendronate one tablet once a week for my Osteoporosis, Calcium 600 + D3 too. then I have Telfast 800 mg for my Allergie Rhinitis, Metformin 2 x a day 'cause I'm DM type 2, Simvastatin 10 mg - for cholesterol and Vit. E 400 IU. I took five years of Tamoxifen then changed to Femara because I have had Lumpectomy in September, 2003. Praise the Lord I am cancer free now. BTW I have also Rectozorin for my Hemorrhoid. It bleeds because I'm always constipated.
Also, would it perhaps be possible to add some alendronate, or something else to help her bone density and still be able to benefit from the thyroid medication? Thank you so much!
She had been taking 75mcg once per day. As well as 70mg a week of alendronate once per week for osteoporosis. This is all so confusing. When everything and everyone is contradicting themselves.
Iam a recent cancer survivor im 19 years old i was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 16 in 2012 leukemia is a blood cancer,my treatment just ended in june 2014 so u could only imagine how much chemotherapy ive taken to my body also i over dosed on accident with my prescription meds.. And also had 2 strokes due to medication also i almost died with an allergic reaction to a type of chemo luckily i was at the hospital when that happened.
Hi my names Hailey and I had a weird kinda painful when you press on a certain spot in my breast I'm scared I have breat cancer the pain goes away it just kinda hurts to press on the top of my boob for about 5 days this is the second time it has came and both times have been in the same spot of SO SCARED its breat cancer please give me an answer I'm like shaking

I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck I already know I have lung cancer, but my jaw hurts and the lymph nodes hurt, should I be concerned?
I had cervical cancer removed 6 years ago. I had a cancer screening appt set just to make sure I was cancer free prior to trying for our first. Little did we know I was pregnant already! Next week my appt will consist of u/s and cancer screening. And it's been 3 years since my last check up. My husband and I are both anxious to get this out of the way. Fingers crossed. I will keep you in my thoughts!
