Aldara squamous cell carcinoma

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara squamous cell carcinoma

Avatar f tn I would expect Aldara to cause a reaction in a squamous cell carcinoma. But you won't know for sure till you get the biopsy report back. My pathology laboratory tells me the result in one day. Waiting weeks is unacceptable. I suggest you complain until you get the information you need. Best. Dr.
Avatar f tn Hello, Aldara is Imiquimod which is used in treatment of basal cell carcinoma having normal immune system and it is not used for squamous cell carcinoma. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
365470 tn?1232750695 Hello, Squamous cell carcinoma is cancer that begins in the squamous cells, which are thin, flat cells that look like fish scales under the microscope Squamous cells are found in the tissue that forms the surface of the skin, the lining of the hollow organs of the body, and the passages of the respiratory and digestive tracts. Thus, squamous cell carcinomas can actually arise in any of these tissues.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your reply. The dermatologist originally did a shave biopsy on the mole for me, just because I wanted it flat. (It is on my nose.) In an odd twist, the whole area became red and swollen after the scab came off. This is the area of the original mole and the area around it. I believe some kind of scraping was involved so I thought maybe this caused it. I was told it was not an infection or scar tissue as I went back to be evaluated.
Avatar n tn com Aldara Cream activates your immune system to help your body fight certain skin diseases, including actinic keratosis, superficial basal cell carcinoma, and external genital warts. If you would like to learn more about one of these conditions, this Web site will provide you with important information. It will also give you information about Aldara Cream http://www.****.
Avatar n tn Its use is approved for basal cell skin cancer and actinic keratosis, a precursor condition of squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. At present, the best evidence for the use of imiquimod for melanoma or lentigo maligna are only case reports. While the results of these studies are promising, only a few patients have been studied and the quality of evidence is weak. Common side effects to Aldara involve skin reactions in the area where it was applied.
1094370 tn?1317138425 I'm 32 and have had my fair share of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. I think the cream you are referring to is Imiquimod/Aldara? It is essentially a topical chemo. Generally if it scabs it means it's working. Unfortunately I haven't had great success with it and have had to have the cancer surgically removed. Not sure where you live, but I have fantastic Doctor recommendations in NYC. Let me know if you want more info.
Avatar m tn I guess Carcinoma in situ can be many things from Bowen's Disease to a more invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Either way, I will need to have another surgery to ensure all the material has been removed. This will likely follow with a trip to a dermatologist so I can be prescribed a topical therapy. Any insights are welcome. Best.
Avatar f tn I am a 33 year old Caucasian male and just received a confirmed biopsy of squamous cell carcinoma in situ (Bowen's disease). The lesion was in my right inguinal genital area close to the "v" line and about an inch below my waistline. Basically, it was closer to my waist than my penile shaft. Ten years ago at the age of 23 I noticed a brown nevus in this same location and blew it off because it appeared similar to other nevi on other areas of my body as I am fair skinned.
Avatar f tn (Squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma being the two most common types.) There are over 100 strains of HPV and of those, over 30 are genital HPV. But having HPV (or even dysplasia) does not mean you will develop cancer. Having high risk HPV only puts you at risk (and a small one at that). - HPV can be transmitted even with the use of condoms. (Which are only effective 70% of the time.
