Avatar m tn Individuals who have left home for college are prone to drink heavily. This is a significant issue on college campuses across the country. Elderly individuals who binge do so often, yet they may fall below the radar in that their friends and family may not be aware of or concerned about their drinking habits. We all need to be careful with alcohol use and to watch out for family members and friends when they binge drink or when they have a habit of drinking too much too often.
Avatar m tn http://www.collegedrinkingprevention.gov/OtherAlcoholInformation/factsAboutAlcoholPoisoning.aspx Pay special attention to the symptoms. I know from first hand experience that a lot of things go through your mind when you think someone may have alcohol poisoning, and there is a natural reaction to hope you are wrong and wait to see if the person to be OK, and that people may very well get mad if you are wrong and drag them to the hospital.
Avatar m tn I would say stay away from alcohol just because of the medication you're on. That could have made you extremely sick. I've never heard the equation of 10% leaving the body every time you urinate and I've studied a lot about alcoholism and addiction. I used to give myself alcohol poisoning on a regular basis when I drank. 2 day hangovers were standard, and at times I would throw up over 15 times in a day.
Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar n tn My friend died of alcohol poisoning with a BAC of 0.70 does this not seem extremely high, is this possible?
Avatar m tn Think of it as getting lucky this time. There are only so many times you can drink until you have alcohol poisoning without some permanent damage to your liver. Take it from someone that knows. Diagnosed 03-23-10 end stage cirrhosis.
168348 tn?1379357075 i think to an extent it's a good thing. i will always be involved in their lives no matter how much they whine and complain but i will not (unless it is something obviously dangerous or stupid) prevent them from living their lives and making their own mistakes. like the hovering mothering on college campus...once they go to college they will be "on their own". if they need me they can call me (and of course i'll be calling them all the time.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone else goes through this or can help me. I'm in college and have a horrible fear of HIV. I drink and some nights I unfortnately drink too much and will not remember parts of the night or even most of it. The days after this are horrible because I start to worry about things I might have done or things that happened during the parts I don't remember and will worry and stress out over it, especially if the parts I do remember I don't like.
Avatar m tn go to the doctor, and be careful. college is where many find out about alcohol poisoning first hand, and yes it can kill you.
Avatar n tn There are also a number of alcohol-related deaths from acute alcohol poisoning and accidents, which are reported on college campuses with increasing frequency.
Avatar f tn t know that the food poisoning would affect it, but the stress of having food poisoning might. You said you are in university/college, so the stress of exams and college life may have something to do with it as well. The best way to know is to test and you should be able to tell for sure by now. Test first thing in the morning with an Early Preg Test. If it's negative, consider yourself in the clear. I hope all comes out well for you!

Avatar f tn I drank one of his alcoholic beverages. It has been a year since I drank it. The drink he made contains %40-45 of alcohol and I drank approximately 400-500 ml of it. I didn't feel bad that night except being drunk. I slept well and even though I have headache too often, I didn't even suffer from headache that day. The thing that I am worried about, is it possible that the alcohol I drank can be methanol and I survived it?
Avatar f tn I also wanted to let you know about the harmful effects of Alcohol on the brain and it can cause depression. Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the function of the central nervous system. Alcohol actually blocks some of the messages trying to get to the brain. This alters a person's perceptions, emotions, movement, vision, and hearing. In very small amounts, alcohol can help a person feel more relaxed or less anxious.
Avatar f tn I remember throwing up and then passing out again. I slept for 8 hour. I read that alcohol poisoning can cause dehydration, leading to low blood pressure and low supply of oxygen to the brain. Also, that alcohol in high doses can slow your breathing, also causing inadequate supply of oxygen to the brain. Did I suffer alcohol poisoning? What are the chances that I my brain starved of oxygen while I was passed out? It’s possible that I suffered some kink of brain damage from this single episode?
Avatar n tn I am wondering how you guys turn down alcohol in front of family and friends? I will be going to a big weekend wedding that will last 3 days and interested in tips how to navigate that without raising eye brows. Thanks!
