Avatar n tn Last year in April, I was in a psychotic state and thought it would be cheaper and more effective to drink windshield washer fluid that contained methanol/isopropanol. I was drinking it for 5 days before someone noticed in my college and took me to hospital. The doctors said I had 3000mg/L of methanol in my blood and was lucky I didn't go blind, get kidney failure or die. Here is an image below of my blood report. https://imgur.
Avatar m tn Hi. This sounds more like acute renal poisoning to me, but even if it is standard kidney failure there's still lots that can be done. Avatar f tn The vet said his kidney function was a little elevated so he could not rule out poisoning. I asked him if he thought that it could be kidney failure and he told me that he thought he had some form of epilepsy. He wants me to continue with the phenobarbital, and if he has no seizures for the next month to leave him on it. My question is: Should he be on phenobarbital after just 1 seizure? Could it have been the low blood sugar that caused the seizure?
Avatar f tn Many conditions can cause high SGPT like liver inflammation, fatty liver, injury to the muscles, myocardial infarction, and acute kidney failure. Fatty liver is the common cause of mildly elevated SGPT. Refrain from alcohol. See a physician and get evaluated for determining the above possibilities. Treatment will depend on the exact cause of your symptoms. Keep me posted with more queries. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn A lot of what you described sounds like you could have a kidney infection, which can be life threatening! Viral hepatitis or cirrhosis of the liver I saw on one website can cause dark brown urine. Another mentions UTI, liver failure, renal (kidney) failure & blood in the urine. Please go in ASAP and get a urine culture, kidney and liver functions done!

Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar m tn t urinate for some reason except once after I started drinking (and I just found out every time you urinate 10% of it leaves your body) and I drank on an empty stomach. Is that enough that I got a small case of alcohol poisoning? I woke up puking everywhere which I never do unless I'm REALLY sick and I was shivering even though my family member says it was hot in here and I don't get cold easily on top of that and I was confused and other unpleasant things.
Avatar m tn Clear urine can be seen with liver disorders such as cirrhosis, kidney disease/failure, diabetis insipidus (kidney related), or from just being well hydrated. Kidney disease markedly increases susceptibility to fluoride toxicity. Excess fluoride exposure may contribute to kidney disease. Kidney GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) levels can be normal in stage 1 of kidney disease.
Avatar m tn Kidney problems in a cat are often seen when the cat is old, many cats that die of "old age" die of kidney failure. For an old cat, the only thing that can be done is to give him canned food if he will eat it, and keep him as hydrated as possible.

Avatar m tn I have researched and researched but the only things that have come up are congestive heart failure, stroke and poisoning (I think the poisoning is unlikely). I just can't believe how quickly it all came about...as I said, he had passed on in half a minute. I can't do a necropsy as this is not something routinely done where I live. Can anyone share some suspicions as to what happened to my dog? It brings me closure.
Avatar m tn What is happening to your husband is called "decompensation" of cirrhosis. Because he is continuing his alcohol use, he is continuing to damage his liver. The symptoms you describe are many of the signs that his liver is failing. Weight loss and lots of sleeping is frequently seen in end-stage liver disease. He may get splotches and bruise easily as things progress because of low platelets, another side effect of decompensation.
Avatar n tn They will need a special diet as well. Melanine poisoning damages the kidneys and puts the cat in danger of renal failure. At this point (assuming it's been a while since the poisoning), I'd concentrate on flushing the kidneys with a few I.V. treatments if it hasn't been done, and then put your cats on a special diet for cats in kidney distress along with following a regular regime of testing to check for kidney function. http://pets.families.

Avatar f tn I read that this could be leading to kidney disease/failure, which is a sign of liver damage. I am experiencing no other symptoms though. Today I did not take the new medication and my BP & HR have returned to their "normal" state of about 130/80 (this has been the "norm" my neurologist is okay with because of my meds). Should I be worried about liver cirrhosis?
Avatar n tn Hey hamohammed. Well I don't think there are any specific treatments or medical interventions that would cure your condition, but there are some preventive measures you can consider, which can help keep your kidney function remain healthy. If your blood pressure is high, usually daily exercise will help. Celery, watermelon-you can try making a pulp using all the parts (red, green and white) which has vasodilating properties which help lower blood pressure- low salt diet.
Avatar n tn Myoclonus may develop in response to infection, head or spinal cord injury, stroke, brain tumors, kidney or liver failure, lipid storage disease, chemical or drug poisoning, or other disorders. Prolonged oxygen deprivation to the brain, called hypoxia, may result in posthypoxic myoclonus. Myoclonus can occur by itself, but most often it is one of several symptoms associated with a wide variety of nervous system disorders.
