Avatar m tn You need to eat more calories than the amount that you burn. Every calorie that you eat above that what you burn will eventually be converted into fat and stored in your body. (regardless if these calories come from protein, fat, carbohydrates or alcohol) 1 kilogram of fat is about 10.000 kCalories so if you daily eat 500kCals more than you burn you will gain a kilo every 3 weeks. remarks: -you will not gain much energy with a few extra kilo's of fat unless you are currently underweight.

Avatar n tn A healthy and regular meal is vital to gain or lose weight. Consuming more calories than you burn will help you in gaining weight. Try to gain weight in a healthy way. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Avoid foods like cookies, chips, aerated drinks .You can also do aerobic exercises or exercises which will help you gain muscle mass. The added muscle will increase your metabolism which in turn will lead to increased consumption of calories per day to maintain that weight.

Avatar f tn I've been exercising 700 minutes for the past two weeks, and kept my calorie count at around 2250 a day, and I weigh 40 kg! I know I need to gain but I want that gain to be intentional. Instead, I calculate a calorie deficit, and am still gaining! What is wrong? I want to be in control of my weight, but gaining on a supposed deficit isn't it!
Avatar n tn No supplement is likely to help. Weight is a balance of calories in // calories out ---- this is true for thyroid and non-thyroid patients. Keeping the TSH in target range (ask your doctor about your target as it may be different based on the thyroid cancer history).

1033596 tn?1252519593 I don't want to play doctor here or anything, but I was in a similar situation for several years. My apartment got broken into, then I moved home, and then my house literally got hit by lightening. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I asked my doctor about other alternatives to the Lexapro, and she suggested Welbutrin.
Avatar n tn Generally speaking, to lose weight calorie intake must be less than you burn with activity, and to gain weight you must take in more calories than you burn. This situation (being underweight and pregnant) is about the only time women have to work to get more calories, but to do so, find foods you like and eat a lot of them. Sometimes pregnant women lose their appetite, so this will be a very individualized thing.
527657 tn?1214051850 It sounds as if your weight gain may be at least partially due to sedentary lifestyle. If it helps motivate you to be more active, I read that everyone should do 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day, such as walking at a fairly rapid rate. Apparently any day you don't do this, you are actually wearing your body out. Exercise alone won't burn many calories, so you also have to be especially careful of the amount of calories you are ingesting.

Avatar f tn Is your dr concerned? I'm 22wks and gained 13lbs in the first 15wks due to bad fluid retention and bloat and then haven't gained anything for the last 7wks. My dr isn't concerned at all because I'm already on a low-fat diet for my complications so he knows I'm eating a balanced diet. Whereas this app and the hospital are saying my weight gain is excessive and I shouldn't put on more then 20lbs my whole pregnancy because I was 198lbs to start with.
