Aggrenox before surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox before surgery

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Avatar f tn I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
Avatar n tn Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
Avatar n tn Due to brain damage from surgery I have temporal lob seizures I was put on gabapentin and depression occurred. I am looking for something that would control the seizures without depression. Help with any idea! Thanks Would Dilatin help with this type of seizure?
1013028 tn?1250923267 Hi Linda, The lupus anticoagulants usually interfere with blood clotting and are also factors for thrombosis. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant are prone to excess bleeding, repeated miscarriages, thrombosis and strokes. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant that presents atleast twice and a history of thrombosis should be given indefinite treatment with anticoagulants. Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin.

469014 tn?1207171512 Why can't a cardiac doctor (intervential cardiologist) do angioplasty to clear the half blocked arteries and possibly clear the totally blocked artery. That doesn't require surgery, but your post doesn't indicate a reason why your father is a high risk for surgery?
Avatar f tn s and a major stroke at 46 due to PFO and ASA and have been taking Aggrenox and Simvastatin since the event. I had infectious endocarditis (symptoms mimicked congestive heart failure) at 47 at MVP which has since calcified and since unknown source, had major anitbiotics covering every possibility for 2 months through a PIC line (vanc, gent, and 2 others) which resulted in kidney failure and creatinine now close to normal.
Avatar f tn I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?

Avatar n tn to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...

14511252 tn?1434923746 Has anyone smoked weed before surgery or did everyone stop if you did? Dont judge it really helps with the pain.
410234 tn?1206634191 I know how hard of a decision this is. I did have surgery when I was trying to get pregnant. The first surgery (not first surgery but first for trying to get pregnant) did not work but the second surgery I had (about 8 months later) I did get pregnant 3 months after that with clomid. I now have a baby but it was a very difficult pregnancy. So I do believe the surgery helps. Actually I got pregnant after the first surgery also but I did miscarry (2nd miscarriage).
Avatar f tn bottle of Gatorade and drink it all the day before surgery. Has anyone else done this and I am hoping I will not get sick. Thought I was reading the instructions wrong at first, but , yep for sure, its the whole Miralax Jar.
725998 tn?1258048708 It is normal to feel a little apprehensive before your surgery. The other ladies are spot on. Reading to much can make you a nervous wreck. It sounds like your doctor is on the ball and he can't say for sure what the cyst is until they get a biopsy of the cyst. I suggest that you take some time for yourself before your surgery and do something that makes you feel good ( a manicure, pedicure, new haircut....). THis will help you relax and take your mind off of stuff for a bit.
Avatar f tn What type of surgery are you having? There is a great thread on here, "top 10 things I have learned from laparoscopic cyst/ovary removal". It's very informative and light hearted enough to maybe assuage your fears. What aspects of the surgery are worrying you? Have you had any surgical procedures before? Many of us on here have had surgery recently, so if you let us know your specific concerns I'm sure someone will be able to help.
7595935 tn?1392396868 My surgery was in March 2002. I lived on another planet for about a month after surgery while my body adjusted to everything. When lying down my feet felt like they were floating, etc. I also couldn't hold my head up completely straight because the muscles in your neck are cut during surgery. All this to say that you won't be able to do much, or anything for that matter, for about a month afterwards so hopefully you have someone to take care of your kids.
