Avatar m tn As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon). After taking x-ray and CT scan, it was found that there was perforation in his stomach.
Avatar f tn Could be ACD instead. Because of where it is located I say that. People with ACD will react on lower legs most often , and scalp too. And many doctors will think it is psorisis. If it is this, I can tell you what to do to end it for good. You would still have ACD but this would clear up for you.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat; rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given. So what you are experiencing is not unusual - however I think you should give your MD a call as Sherry also suggested. He/she needs to know about your reaction.
Avatar m tn While it is antihistaminics, topical and oral steroids for eczema and antifungal for fungal infection, the treatment of psoriasis that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids have been routinely used. So before using any treatment it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Taper off the steroids to low potency ones after consulting your dermatologist. The drugs that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed.
6843062 tn?1387857703 Also, if need be you an take aminosalicylates under expert guidance as this group of drugs does not affect the baby either in mother’s womb or during breast feeding. Biologic drugs such as adalimumab (Humira) and infliximab (Remicade) can also be started later in pregnancy. Discuss this with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar n tn I just recently got tested for the first time for stds and everything came back negative but the RPR says non-react. Ive never got treated for RPR before. Is there a chance that i may have syphilis or had syphilis; and what are the complications if i was never treated?
10175413 tn?1427170251 d this year with Ankylosing spondylitis. Been treating several months with Adalimumab - not terribly impressed. Get better relief from anti-inflammatory and chiropractic. Probably not related to my HCV tx, but find it interesting that Rheumy doc wants me to do PCRs for HCV - even after 12+ years sustained response - while doing the Adalimumab immunosuppressant.
Avatar f tn Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.
5371784 tn?1370824532 So my husband n I try out this church today.....I was really nervous bout it course we both were. We haven't been in church for almost 10 months. Avatar f tn Medicines prescribed for Crohn’s include fibre supplements, Aminosalicylates (medicines that help control mild to moderate symptoms), corticosteroids, medicines such as azathioprine or 6-mercaptopurine and biologic therapy like Infliximab and adalimumab in severe cases. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar f tn How did your cats react to the new baby? I'm afraid mine will be very jealous.
Avatar m tn Hello I wanted to ask you if some of you happen to not only react to people but also animals like dogs or cats can answer you would be grateful.
Avatar n tn now I am going to go talk to my obgyn about going on birth control, I know I should tell them and will but I am scared about how they will react. I just started goin there a year ago and so I feel weird. I saw my primary doctor for knee pain and had to tell her because I was on medicine for the abortion and wanted to make sure she knew. She wasn't rude, but I guess just shocked....not much eye contact after that.
Avatar f tn I react to nearly all foods, have lost about 20 pounds, allergist is no help nor GI. I am eating only about 9 foods. Have tired, claritin ---no help, cannot tolerate zrytec or allegra. I might have an auto immune disease, have a high ANA titer, 1:1280, see a Rheumatologist on August 9th. ARNP said I have severe Raynaud's which goes along with some auto immune diseases. Dietician no help. Has anyone else had this problem.
1539111 tn?1293014306 Since then he has been under constant treatment. We were given steroid courses, infliximab, adalimumab injections, and now he is on methotrexate every week since 2 weeks. My concern is that this injection is a chemo treatment, which can have many side effects as well as good effects. My son is now nearly 11 years old. His health is deteriorating by the day. He feels weak and dizzy, cannot do activity like playing outside with other children because he feels tired and worn out.
Avatar f tn Things register in my head as soon as they happen (like in martial arts, I can tell when I have an opening to attack) but it takes me a long time to react. For example, if I touch a hot pot, it takes me a second to react to being burned while for a normal person, they react as soon as they touch the pot. Why is this happening to me, and how do I fix it?
Avatar f tn Drugs called TNF-inhibitors (etanercept, adalimumab, infliximab), which block an inflammatory protein, have been shown to improve the symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis. I'm going to refer your post to the Hysterectomy Forum, there is a wonderful CL there who will be able to tell you if there is something related to that surgery that could be causing these issues. (This forum is related to pelvic organ prolapse.) Good luck, I hope you find some relief soon.
