Avatar m tn It was discovered that my bladder had been pierced and i had to have a SPC. Upon returning to the UK i have since have 2 separate procedures (urethral dilation) neither of which have worked. At the beginning of August i had a complex urethroplasty all the time the SPC has been in place. Once the urethral catheter was removed roughly 2 weeks ago i've found that my bladder is not emptying fully. I'm still having to use the SPC to fully void.
Avatar m tn My husband has this problem everytime the SPC needs changing, tried regular 4 week changes and still stuck. Now has GA every 12 weeks to change the catheter along with botox and prostate massage. Around the 10 week mark he too finds it so painful to touch the tubing etc. Has had SPC two years. Next change Monday and urologist cannot explain why it sticks so badly.
Avatar f tn Turns out, surgeon didn't leave adequate instructions regarding plugging the spc in the post-op timeframe. I found this out via a conversation with the surgeon's RN a few days ago. I apologize for any confusion. I was simply confused.
Avatar m tn As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon). After taking x-ray and CT scan, it was found that there was perforation in his stomach.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat; rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given. So what you are experiencing is not unusual - however I think you should give your MD a call as Sherry also suggested. He/she needs to know about your reaction.
Avatar m tn While it is antihistaminics, topical and oral steroids for eczema and antifungal for fungal infection, the treatment of psoriasis that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids have been routinely used. So before using any treatment it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn wow thanks for answer can i ask one more having extra beats vents and spc both less than 50 a day holter results.
Avatar f tn Taper off the steroids to low potency ones after consulting your dermatologist. The drugs that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed.

Avatar n tn I cant live with a tube in my penis for the rest of my life , that I have to get changed monthly and the pain is HELL so I am left with no choice but get the SPC ( supra pubic catheter ) and that is an open wound in the belly that has to be kept clean and dry with a catheter directly threw the belly into the bladder and ugly as hell and extremely nasty. I was already getting my *** kicked from lupus and now I have this added to my hellish life.

6843062 tn?1387857703 Also, if need be you an take aminosalicylates under expert guidance as this group of drugs does not affect the baby either in mother’s womb or during breast feeding. Biologic drugs such as adalimumab (Humira) and infliximab (Remicade) can also be started later in pregnancy. Discuss this with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
10175413 tn?1427170251 d this year with Ankylosing spondylitis. Been treating several months with Adalimumab - not terribly impressed. Get better relief from anti-inflammatory and chiropractic. Probably not related to my HCV tx, but find it interesting that Rheumy doc wants me to do PCRs for HCV - even after 12+ years sustained response - while doing the Adalimumab immunosuppressant.
Avatar f tn Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.

Avatar f tn Medicines prescribed for Crohn’s include fibre supplements, Aminosalicylates (medicines that help control mild to moderate symptoms), corticosteroids, medicines such as azathioprine or 6-mercaptopurine and biologic therapy like Infliximab and adalimumab in severe cases. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed. But it is usually seen that psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy.
1301089 tn?1290666571 com WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Oct. 25, 2007, 22 year-old Army Spc. Salvatore Giunta raced head-on into an enemy ambush to save the lives of two American soldiers during a deadly fire fight in one of the most inhospitable regions of eastern Afghanistan. 1539111 tn?1293014306 Since then he has been under constant treatment. We were given steroid courses, infliximab, adalimumab injections, and now he is on methotrexate every week since 2 weeks. My concern is that this injection is a chemo treatment, which can have many side effects as well as good effects. My son is now nearly 11 years old. His health is deteriorating by the day. He feels weak and dizzy, cannot do activity like playing outside with other children because he feels tired and worn out.
