Avatar m tn As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon). After taking x-ray and CT scan, it was found that there was perforation in his stomach.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat; rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given. So what you are experiencing is not unusual - however I think you should give your MD a call as Sherry also suggested. He/she needs to know about your reaction.
Avatar m tn While it is antihistaminics, topical and oral steroids for eczema and antifungal for fungal infection, the treatment of psoriasis that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids have been routinely used. So before using any treatment it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
1760800 tn?1406753451 Is anyone out there looking at using the new pen. My new neuro has prescribed it for me and I will start using it in July, And if I wasn't impressed enough with him at my appointment. We discussed the pen when I had my appt on May 9th. He called in a script for it for me on May 10th! Nice to know he is on the ball, listens to me and does things even without being asked! I am very fortunate to have found two good neuros. The first who dx'd me and the 2nd who is a MS specialist.
Avatar f tn Inside the pen, where the insulin is contained I found a silver object. I did not inject myself, but would like to know who I could talk to about product liability and quality control. I still have the container even though the pharmacy company wants it back.
Avatar f tn Yesterday at work someone shot me in the eye with a basic lazer red beam pen 650nm 5mW for about 4 seconds before I realized it. Today the eye seems to be a little weaker then the other. When I close the eye that was hit long distance seems to be blurry compared to the eye that was not hit seems to be better. Could this pen possibly have done damage? If so permanently? Or am I just being paranoid and over reacting?
Avatar f tn Just saw an advertisement for a new device called the Heartcheck PEN. It's $189 and when you feel palpitations you can immediately record an EKG with it. You can also download software so that for a fee you can forward your EKG to a physician, a monitoring center or both, and have it read and sent back to you. The website is theheartcheck.com. If this is as advertised it would be great for all the things that don't seem to happen while wearing a holter monitor.
1236243 tn?1277680851 The only time an air shot is necessary is when you open a new pen. 1 Time per pen only. If you are on the 1.2mg dosage a pen should last you 2 weeks.

Avatar f tn Taper off the steroids to low potency ones after consulting your dermatologist. The drugs that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed.
Avatar f tn I have a NovoLog FlexPen with 100 units which stopped working after about 1/3 of the insulin had been dispensed. It simply stopped releasing the insulin left in the pen. I pay a lot for these pens since my insurance only covers about half the cost. I took it to my pharmacy who said I must get it from Novo Nordisk, Inc. How can I get a replacement?
Avatar f tn If someone should have an active cold sore on their lip and touches their runny nose while out on a cold day then uses a pen to write and you use the pen just a minute after them, what's the likelihood of getting HSV-1. Does it lives in nasal mucus and saliva? Just to caveat this person did not wash their hands before using the pen and then the pen was used by another within minutes.
400358 tn?1320234443 I don't have a vial that I put in the pen. The pen is already pre-loaded. I just dial 150 on a 300iu pen and then I pushed the button and it did the clicking but I still see clear liquid (not at the end of the needle) but in the bottom of the pen.
Avatar m tn Usually there are very tiny bubbles holding onto the wall of the insulin pen. If they are at top of the pen I do not worry. But some times they are at the bottom and no matter how much i tap the pen, these tiny bubbles wont budge from their place. Is there way to avoid the formation of these tiny bubbles?
1150573 tn?1261964987 5 I put a needle on the top pull out the bottom of the pen until it will no longer pull any further then flick the top of the pen with my fingers gently to ensure there are no airbubbles then I push the end of the pen in again this should release a squirt of liquid out of the needle if it does not pull the end out again (still set on 37.5) and repeat.
Avatar f tn What is the standard preoperative marking pen? Surgical pen, Sharpie, ball point pen, ????? I had a Sharpie used during preoperative marking (in VNUS Closure surgery) and the ink was pushed into the open wound, resulting in a surgical tattoo. Can this be removed...and how?
Avatar n tn unless in a hollow bore needle. Well a pen is air tight so could some of the blood got on the tip and back into the airtight pen. it had been about a couple days since he stuck himself I think i am ok. But i can not stop thinking about this. I may have ocd? ALSO. I can't seem to find how long blood in an airtight scenario would survive.
Avatar n tn I am a Paramedic and I went on a call where a Hep C person had dried blood and their hands. He used my pen after a few hours, I put that pen in my mouth. I forgot that he had used my pen. Is there anyway that I can contact Hep C with this type of exposure?
