Shingles (Herpes Zoster) is caused by varicella zoster virus (responsible
for causing chicken pox also).
Shingles does not occur in the genital areas.
However, a virus belonging to the same family, herpes simplex virus can cause genital herpes involving labia, which is a common and highly contagious disease transmitted from one person to the other through sexual activity.
