Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum! Of course, we can't diagnose you here, but my advice to you would be to seek out a second evaluation, preferrably by a psychiatrist. Whether you DO indeed have PTSD or not, you've gone through more horrible and tragic events and losses in your young life than most people ever experience throughout an entire lifetime!

Avatar f tn org/forums/PTSD---Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder/show/316. This said, I think it important that you tell your parents what is going on and see if you can get in to see a therapist about it so you can sort out the dreams and hopefully resolve it. Take care. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn How will Post traumatic stress disorder affect me during pregnancy and the hormones?
Avatar f tn Post-traumatic stress disorder not Post traumatic shock disorder. I am also saddened by fact that I have not found support to have this forum as it seems so many have problems with PTSD.
Avatar f tn Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder as I understand so yes it can be one reason your heart failure developed. I strongly believe mine happened because of high stress level for years and very high for a few months. Even with family history, viral infection, and long time not treated high blood pressure that all also factors, and I had them all ,if the stress level wasn’t that high that I had I probably never get down that suddenly and badly.
993488 tn?1249453190 my doctor just told me i had post traumatic stress syndrome, and honestly i'm not sure what that means... why are the "symptoms" of this disorder? Are there any long term issues i should worry about?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the suggestion. Post traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder. We already offer an anxiety/panic tracker. Does this not meet your needs? If not, we can add or modify the tracker to better meet your needs. Please tell us what does or does not work for you.
Avatar f tn I don't know that it can cause PTSD. I could see how it would cause depression or anxiety but PTSD is a pretty serious disorder. Not downplaying that event I am sure it was tough but I can't in all good conscious tell you that it likely caused PTSD. However I am not a doctor I just have PTSD. I acquired this beautiful disorder from a lifetime of trauma starting with sexual, mental, and physical abuse leading up to my two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
5957912 tn?1379936972 Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) does not 'go away' and is not 'cured', like the rest of the mental disorders we see so much of these days like depression, anxiety, etc. These disorders must be MANAGED, with counseling, medication, or both. Ask your doctor about this.
Avatar m tn Possibly you can have any combo, but have you been diagnosed?
Avatar n tn t know what specifically you may be experiencing, though it sounds like some kind of anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder. I have ptsd, but my symptoms consist of flashbacks and extreme anxiety when in places that I relate to the initial trauma. It would be best to see a psych professional who may reccomend meds, therapy or both, as well as giving you a specific diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I was talking to my dad the other day and he brought up how it could possibly be Post traumatic stress disorder bcs I am not worrying about it never going away. I constnatly think about it every day. I just try to explain how even when i try to ignore it it is still there slightly. I guess my questions is is it possible to be imagining or bringing on such symptoms to there full effect due to anxiety?
Avatar f tn Not eating unless I make her This has come out of no-where - does any of this sound like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Who should I take her to see - all GP's in our area are hopeless Thank-you in advance.
Avatar n tn However, I think I may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, due to someone very close to me sexually abusing me twice as a teen. Is this a possibility and if so, do I need to see someone for it?
Avatar m tn PTSD is triggered by a traumatic event or series of traumatic events, and it seems like if that happened to a person with chronic adjustment disorder, he or she could get PTSD, just the same way a person without chronic adjustment disorder could.
Avatar f tn Washington (CNN) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs is making it easier for veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder to get benefits, a development President Barack Obama calls a "long overdue step." In his weekly address Saturday, Obama said Veterans Affairs will launch new rules for easing PTSD documentation requirements starting next week.
20799130 tn?1511538271 I ask because I appear to have an untreated, undiagnosed Bipolar disorder (or acute hypomania), but one of my three brothers also has been diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder for about 7 years or so, but I am the polar opposite of him (pun intended) in personality and symptoms. Just like there are multiple types of diabetes and they require different care. See this Care Guide for more details on the differences: http://www.vitals.com/education/careguides/bipolar-disorder?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. I have never heard of the treatment you are describing? EMDR has something to do with eye movement. It re-organizes your thought processess. The reason I don't want to take all the medications they try to put me on is because I have bi-polar disorder (which it took them 35 years to diagnose!), severe PTSD, used to have severe dissociative disorder, and have borderline personality disorder. I've been this way since I was a little kid, and I'm 55 now.
