Avatar f tn I had similar thoughts about my son. If you have a speech disorder, sensory integration disorder, auditory processing disorder etc that are separate diagnosis - do they add up to autism? I think my son is autistic because he does meet the criteria. There are some areas he does quite well at, and like you, if he improves he could well lose his diagnosis as well. I don't understand why professionals are so black and white about things (sometimes I find them more autistic than my son!).
Avatar n tn I have had a stress test, an echocardiogram, and an stress echo all which come back normal. I had a CTA done on 1/15 that was normal as well. A week ago, I woke up with chills and a racing heart beat. I have been short of breath all this time, and I feel as if I cannot get a full breath of air in my left lung. My back feels extremely tight, and I feel as if i have to wiggle around to get a full breath in to fill my lungs. I had another CTA done on 3/18 which came back normal as well.

Any possible ideas of what may be causing me these anomynous attacks of pain?
Avatar f tn ve had symptoms that could fall under acute stress disorder, panic disorder, general anxiety disorder, and depression. Sometimes the symptoms can fit in one catagory and then switch over to a different catagory. For example, in the past I've had frequent panic attacks throughout the day. Overtime, I've found triggers (more trivial than life threatening) for some while others just happen. Majority of the symptoms began after 2 years of profound stress.

Avatar m tn ve never been sick like that before. I had all the symptoms of acute infection except no ulcers. Part of the illness included an infection in the throat. The infection was cleared up with antibiotics but i was still very tired for a few weeks. Could this have been acute infection? Do people ever get sore throat that clear up with antibiotics during the window period? I know that antibiotics don't help viral infections but I wonder if it could have been an opportunistic infection.
Avatar m tn as far as the McDonald criteria i have reviewed it and meet the criteria. As far as the seizure disorder goes one doctor thought i was having partial absent ones so he ordered the MRI to see if anything was going on and they found the spots then. What other types of demylimating diseases are there?
Avatar m tn Which makes sense because it is an anxiety disorder. I know that I have OCD rather than another anxiety disorder because I do have the compulsions, and I do repeatitive things to make myself feel better. All this being said: I think that it is totally reasonable to have OCD act up after a drunken night that caused you to rethink your actions, possibly feel guilty and then stressed out but what may or may not have happened.
Avatar f tn Some stuff changes with the 2010 revision of the McDonald Criteria. The new Criteria is available here: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ana.22366/pdf The "new" criteria defines an attack as: "An attack (relapse; exacerbation) is defined as patient-reported or objectively observed events typical of an acute inflammatory demyelinating event in the CNS, current or historical, with duration of at least 24 hours, in the absence of fever or infection.

Avatar n tn It is quite possible to have several autistic traits, but not enough of them in each criteria to reach a diagnosis. But where your daughter does match the criteria eg. speech/social communication, then they could use the same strategies they might use for an autistic child. When my child was first assessed by Speech/Language professional she told me straight away that with that kind of speech problem it is usually autistic spectrum disorder eg.
Avatar n tn i could have hashimotos, but my hyper phase followed by extreme hypo phase don't follow the typical hashis pattern. it seems that most people with hashimotos don't have an acute hyper phase followed by an acute hypo phase. usually people with hashimotos slowly become hypothyroid over a period of years. hashimotos is a gradual destruction, whereas silent thyroiditis is inflammation followed by recovery. only time will tell if my issue is transient. the same is with you.
Avatar m tn An EKG, an echo and a stress test will rule out most of the heart muscle diseases if normal. There are a lot of heart muscle diseases where most of them are ruled out after a normal echo (ultrasound of the heart). ARVD (as mentioned by itdood) is a special form of cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease). It is diagnosed after special criteria which include a lot of testing and history.
Avatar f tn s behaviour so that parents can see the behaviour that the professionals are looking for that meets the diagnostic criteria.
