Common Questions and Answers about Actos generic medications

actos

Avatar n tn I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn Ask for Actos, I took it for my tyoe II. There are other medications too, talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn I'm told that addisons and diabeties do oy go together and wondering if 'actos ' and cortef wil work to gether, I have had addisons since 1981, thefore been taking cortef a long time .. thanks for info ...
1236243 tn?1277680851 I've been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.
Avatar m tn 30am wake up. 2mg Glimepride at 5:00pm before dinner. Take glucose readings just before meds in am and pm. Currently avg 167 in the am and 114 in the pm. Active during the day but little activity during the evening and night. Anyone have information about switching the 30mg Actos + 4mg Glimepride to before dinner and the 2mg Glimepride at wake up in hopes of lowering the morning readings? Thank you.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years. In a past post, I wondered if they decrease in dosage is what was causing me so many problems. However, I am back on the brand name of the medication and there's a HUGE difference between the two.
21064 tn?1309308733 I could really use your help. I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?

Avatar m tn I recently developed anxiety and was prescribed Prozac (generic) and Klonopin (generic). The Klonopin has been given until the Prozac starts to work. I have taken this twice in 2 weeks and like eveyone on here do not like being on medication. Does anyone have experience with anxiety in the short term. Is this something that with treatment will subside over a few months and allow me to stop the medication? Also how long have people felt that Prozac takes to really be effective.
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
735919 tn?1236444549 I've been on Lamictal for 2 years and it's been good to me. I did have blurred vision with the generic version and have to use the brand name. Supposedly, blurred vision is a common side effect with the generic, and also isn't as strong as the brand name.
Avatar n tn s, and Cystitis but no RLS but my mother in-law has it and she takes Valerian Root supplemets with the generic drug similar to Miripex because her insurance stinks too.
178107 tn?1315947630 Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.
Avatar n tn I am currently looking for insurance, are MS medications available in generics?...what are the best insurance covering them?
Avatar n tn I went the other way - from generic to Levoxyl. Six weeks later, my T3 and T4 had both gone down, even though the dose had remained constant. This indicated to me that the generic might have been a bit on the high side. My endo says the generic can vary as much as 15% from its stated dosage. So, if you were on 125mcg Synthroid and switched to generic (possibly containing 15% more - also could be 15% less), you'd be at approximately 144 mcg. That's a pretty big change.
Avatar n tn Are you asking for a suggestion of another med for helping you sleep?? If so, I take generic Remeron 45 mg, the generic is called mirtazapine...I have been taking it for a couple of yrs and it works every time and I am highly resistant to meds, my body gets immune to them very fast!! Hope this helps...
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor and your questions really should be addressed to a physiscian familiar with all of these issues and your particular health history. Finding the right medications and the right combination of medications can be a little tricky. These are not matters to be trusted to your friendly volunteer or even someone you know with similar issues. So, my only advice is to go back to your physician or if you are not comfortable with the advice you are getting, get asecond opinion.
Avatar m tn I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??
Avatar f tn I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.
