I've heard a lot of bad things about the drug Actos lately, My Doctor still has me on it, is it as bad as I'm hearing?

m also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...

Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.

You can try Webmd for generic names but most drs and many pharmacists have a 2 tier system, name brands and generic drugs and dispense them accordingly. Not all name brand drugs have generic equivalents so they don't use the generic names. Most pharmacists also are so busy that they only have time to verify the meds in the bottle against what is in it and read the possible side effects if needed by a patron.

Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.

In the end this means if you are given a generic drug you should research the brand name drug in order to see the latest risks for the drug you are to take.

I hope you aren't on the diabetes drug Actos? Just was seeing an ad today where they are being sued because it alledgedly can lead to bladder cancer!

Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.

The first thing you need to do is figure out how to lower your blood sugars. Changing your diet, increasing your exercise, adjusting your carb ratios, these are all things you can do to lower your blood sugars. Lowering them will do more to prevent complications than anything else.

Is anyone getting ringing in the ears from taking Generic Wellbutrin(Bupropion sr ) 150 mg. Here is my situation I have been on amitriptiline 25 mg 4 years then went up to 50 mg for 3 years. I started taking only one 150 mg of bupropion sr this is my 5 day. Can I stop taking the amitriptiline with no withdrawls after only 5 days of Bupropion? or has it not been long enough. I hoping that I can stop the amitriptiline by taking the bupropion sr in place of the amitriptiline.

it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.

I took Actos and within a week started having stomach and left side pains. I stopped actos and 75% of the symptoms are gone but I did see my doctor who ordered a CT scan which was normal. My labs have all been normal except I did show 21% atypical lymphs. Mono test was negative and so was H pylori blood test. I suspect the Actos started my problems. I felt bloated and full, pain in one specific area on left side, stomach stopped growling, etc.

What amazes me is Teva makes more off the US market than all the rest of the countries of the world combined. It can't be research and development which makes it more expensive for the US market since that happens in Israel. I do not think it is because they sell us more. I think it more likely they charge us more. Especially since countries like Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom buy all the drugs and have more bargaining power.
