1236243 tn?1277680851 See this link for FDA issued warnings on Actos and Avandia http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/medicines_ez/insert_J.aspx Kinda makes you wonder if it's time to leave the sinking ship.
Avatar m tn Also, Avandia is the other drug that falls into this classification. The FDA warns not to use Avandia for first time users, in fact, the FDA severely restricts its use. You can read about the different oral diabetes medication classifications and drugs that fall into each class here. http://tinyurl.com/type2-diabetes-drug-classes Always ask your doctor why he/she is Rx a drug vs others on the market.
Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
Avatar m tn it includes some of the following Cipro,Ciproxin,Ciprobay,Ciproproxine,Ciflox and Livaquin, Two other medications in this group have been taken off the market by the FDA some time ago for the nasty reactions they had. There are a lot of other antibiotics that don't have these nasty side affects and are safe to use, although when taking to many antibiotics your stystem could become immune to them and when you have an infection they don't do much good.

Avatar m tn Just wondering did the hcv drugs worked on hbv patients somehow so ppl started to use them to cause FDA to issue a warning?
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
Avatar m tn x/full very interesting study which confirms why simvastatin, lowering cholesterol drug and actos (diabetes 2 drug), have anti hbv activity lowering hbvdna, cancer risk, all this without problems of resistance and acting on all hbv mutants conclusions: The discovery of the mechanisms by which HBV is controlled by the hepatic metabolic milieu may broaden our understanding of the unique regulation of HBV expression and may also explain the mechanisms by which HBV induces liver pathologies.
Avatar m tn t find the warning. The conselor reiterated that though the test is FDA approved, that the FTC has issued a warning concerning home testing accuracy--home testing being the Home Access test. Basically what I'm trying to get at is... 1.
Avatar f tn I think they are saying these effects are in the realm of possibility because although it isn't clear exactly how Copaxone does what it does, it does alter part of immune system function. Remember, it's an immunomodulator. (Don't know if it makes you feel any better but there are plenty more drugs approved long before anybody understands the why or how of their success.
2053416 tn?1330411192 Due to a lot of weight gain. My doctor took me off actos and put me on glumetza. I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
690060 tn?1247841741 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has new data showing that omeprazole (Prilosec/Prilosec OTC)—a medicine used to reduce stomach acid—reduces the anti-blood clotting effect of clopidogrel (Plavix) by almost half when these two medicines are taken by the same patient." "...Patients using clopidogrel should consult with their healthcare provider if they are currently taking or considering taking omeprazole, including Prilosec OTC" but then, there's also this: http://www.

178107 tn?1315947630 Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.
757137 tn?1347196453 The FDA has issued a stern warning concerning the use of Advair. Not only can it worsen asthma, but the side effects can be fatal. Other forms of treatment should be sought and, if the product is used at all, it should be for short periods of time. Advair affected my adrenals, harmed my eyes, and worsened my asthma. It caused such serious choking that I feared it would kill me. I stopped taking it last August and am doing fine on natural anti-inflammatories.
Avatar n tn FDA is notifying the makers of fluoroquinolone antimicrobial drugs for systemic use of the need to add a boxed warning to the prescribing information about the increased risk of developing tendinitis and tendon rupture in patients taking fluoroquinolones and to develop a Medication Guide for patients. The addition of a boxed warning and a Medication Guide would strengthen the existing warning information already included in the prescribing information for fluoroquinolone drugs.
Avatar n tn In response to these findings, the FDA issued an advisory warning about the possible risk of death, but allowed the drug to remain on the market. In August 2005, Health Canada allowed Adderall to re-enter the market because the agency was unable to prove (within that six-month period) that Adderall was more dangerous than other ADHD medications. While Adderall continues to be sold, there are serious risks associated with this popular medication.
