1236243 tn?1277680851 I've been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.
148588 tn?1465778809 m more concerned with its other scary sides than this tumor thing, as I have none of cancers mentioned in the black box warning. But its either take procrit or reduce riba or abandon tx, so I'm choosing procrit to see if I can finish tx and clear this virus once and for all.
Avatar n tn Hello. I thought I would give you ladies some information I've just read about the drug Reglan. I thought it would be important because I've read that several women have been given this drug to increase Milk production. With the recent Black Box warning: "Feb. 27, 2009 -- The FDA has ordered a "black box" warning, the FDA's strongest warning, for drugs that contain metoclopramide, which is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Elidel, however at first I was concerned with the black box warning and asked my doctor for a prescription skin barrier cream instead called EpiCeram to try first. Anyways, I have used the EpiCeram for a couple months along with a penis vitamin cream call Man 1 Man Oil and Emu Oil also. It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster!
Avatar f tn According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.

Avatar f tn In my opinion, taking a drug which cures me, even though it has a black box warning, is a whole lot better than avoiding that drug and ending up in a pine box six feet under instead. However, one might be surprised at the drugs that have black box warnings. Many are very commonly taken and no one thinks twice about it.
Avatar m tn Do you have a question about the black box warning?
Avatar f tn Your liver has to process all those drugs. I hope you are alright! My mother has paracetamol toxicity and her liver enzymes were very high. You can die days after overdosing on drugs due to liver failure. I would go to the hospital just in case. I too had suicidal thoughts. In my case due to vitamin B12 malabsorption. This was my cause of seriously deficient serotonin levels. Serotonin is the happiness neurotransmitter.
Avatar n tn On July 8, 2008 the Food and Drug Administration slapped a black box warning on Cipro and other, similar antibiotics due to an increased risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture. Recent adverse reports include ruptures to the shoulder, hand, bicep or thumb tendons." "Fluoroquinolones carry a Black Box Warning To/For Doctors." http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/features/cipro/cipro-side-effects-antibiotic-drug.html#.U0Ar5HQ8lCx From The FDA: http://www.fda.
Avatar n tn If by oil, you mean the black kind, this is a serious symptom you should get checked out as soon as possible by a urologist. It is a possibility it is old blood. If it is oily on top, please see the doctor's reply on this thread: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/oily-film-in-my-urine/show/632694 Urine can smell if you had old blood in it. It also can smell with certain foods in some people, such as asparagus. You might also want to get infection ruled out as a reason.
Avatar m tn I took 80,000 epo for 48 weeks then dropped down to 40,000 for the next 24 weeks at Dr. Jacobson's order. I don't know of anyone on here who would consider taking iron at all since we've all been explicitly warned not to because iron is crucial for viral replication. Much better odds just taking the epo/procrit and working towards that SVR goal.
Avatar f tn s called a black box warning from the fda that it causes bone density loss. They only put a black box warning on drugs that have serious side effects that are severe. Google it. It is by far the most dangerous and damaging of all the birth control options and no one who values their health should use it.

Avatar m tn Unfortunately, the FDA Naltrexone ‘black box’ warning about the possibility of liver issues can be very misleading when investigating Naltrexone or Low Dose Naltrexone because it does not provide the scope or dosage on which the warning is based. The below is information about the Black Box warning – it is based on a clinical study where patients were taking extremely high dosages of Naltrexone (300 mg a day) and a sub-set of obese patients developed some liver anomalies.
Avatar f tn Hi all, My hubby was dx'ed 2 weeks ago w/ diabetes II. His regular doc put him on 30 mg Actos daily. At 1st hubby's blood sugar was a whopping 390- now it's down to 76-90 in the am and no more than 180 even after lots of sugary food. Obviously the blood sugar is well under control now. The problem is, my husband's vision is going crazy! I know that diabetes can cause vision problems when blood sugar is high, but the way it's happening doesn't make sense.
Avatar m tn The FDA said it would now require a black-box warning on the oral sodium phosphate products Visicol and OsmoPrep, alerting consumers about the risk of acute phosphate nephropathy -- a type of severe kidney injury. "The FDA has received reports of 20 unique cases of kidney injury associated with the use of OsmoPrep," Dr.
5079728 tn?1365549989 Bupropion, also known as Wellbutrin (as an anti-depressant) and Zyban (as a smoke cessation aide) has a black box warning for suicidal tendencies and suicide completion. Anti-microbial drugs (antibiotics) that contain fluoroquinolones, such as Avelox, Cipro and Levaquin, have warnings because they can increase the risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in patients over 60 years old.
Avatar n tn Though this panel was not asked to make regulatory recommendations, the panel quickly ruled that a BLACK BOX WARNING, the strictest warning possible, should be added to Adderall and other ADHD medications to warn consumers about the serious risks of sudden death and adverse cardiovascular events. The FDA took no immediate action to add this warning to Adderall or similar ADHD drugs. Have you suffered Adderall side effects?
