actonel osteoporosis

I am a 59 year old female.The reading on my bone density test is minus 4.1 for my spine and minus 2.6 for my legs and hip. However, my doctor isn't prescribing any medication for me but tells me to continue taking calcium supplement and Vitamin D and come back in a year to do another test. Since I am obviously having osteoporosis, shouldn't I be taking any prescription drug? I am worried sick over the reading and need some expert opinion to go back and talk to my doctor again.

Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta,celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.

Doctor gave me an antibiotic but again next week it recurs. Body aches mostly knees and ankles [ i suffer through osteoporosis and joint pains too but the pains were not troublesome earlier] Can anyone tell is it viral or anything else.

I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?

Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis. I have thought about this long and hard since getting my DEXA result.

I have had osteopenia for many years; I have been able to rebuild my bone density by taking calcium and magnesium, but if you've already been diagnosed with osteoporosis, you might need to go on a med specifically for that. What is your current thyroid status?

I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.

As I have osteoporosis besides hep b, I have been taking Actonel 35mg for 5 years with little improvements and my doctor added now Evister for about 6 months. But I feel that those medicines are not helping me at all and may be they are damaging my already infected liver. She started out with Fosamax, and after awhile when side effects start from that one, and Actonel was available, they put her on Actonel and she was on Actonel all the way up until it was stopped at 79. So, I have that in my mind (her being mom and my genes and all), and decided that I want to put off bone drugs as long as I can. If I can reverse this w/o them, than I'm going to.

I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

ll let you know the results when I get them. I am also taking Actonel 150mg monthly for the osteoporosis. As far as side effects, I have not experienced any in any form. Everything appears all right down below. If I recall, I was on 2 actuations per day for about 6 months and then had a t-level taken which dictated increasing the dose to 3 actuations. In another 6 months, the same story, so I was increased to 4 actuations.

I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax. I continue to have night sweats, chronic dry mouth and throat. Not sure what to do. Not happy with the doctors here.

I was also was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in 2010, but nobody could figure out why, since I was on estrogen to PREVENT that. My Dexa scan at the time was -2.8 for the AP spine, -2.8 for total left and -2.5 for total right - worse than my mothers bones, and I was only 46 at that time. I have been taking Reclast since then. My family physician did new labs this week. My calcium was 11.3, my PTH had gone up to 76, and my vitamin D 1, 25 was 114. My family phys.

i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . Thank you. Wish I had seen this yesterday as I had an appt. with my GI doctor who says it is IBS but does have me set up for a hydrogen (?) breath test in two weeks. There has been no blood detected in my urine which was checked in the ER twice recently. I have had stools checked, endoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsies. I see an Urologist today and will discuss this with her. I also read today that taking Vit E and Calcium can cause kidney stones.

Actonel, plus Vitamin D3-ANALOG from Denmark for bone re-mineralization (which is not available in the USA yet, but has been used all over Europe with lab proven success), and Crestor for high cholesterol. I had to come to Panama to be diagnosed with Hashi/hypo because my USA family doctor would not run any test except TSH, even though I repeatedly asked him to do the thyroid panel. He said the TSH was normal so no need to test any more.

Hey Guys, just a quick question. Have any of you been diagnosed with severe osteoporosis? I just found out last week that I have it really bad - they said they almost never see numbers this bad in someone my age. (I'll be 47 in May.) My bones are worse than my mom's, and she's 75! I am at extremely high risk for fractures now, especially in my hips, spine and wrists.

I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.

Just today I had read that Calcium and Vit D may contribute to the formation of kidney stones, both of which my Endocronologist has prescribed for my Osteoporosis. I see her on Friday for thyroid nodule follow up. The doctor I saw today dies not agree with the high doses. It is a concern because every time they do these tests they always mention the spine degeneration, ESP at L2and L3. I also have it in my neck. So, what do I do?

can anyone help me out with some information on what is going on here, her osteoporosis does not seam to be getting any worse, as she is on meds and really diets well to help herself, but the pain is what i am worried about, pain killers do not work at all, she can't have anti inflams for some reason, either heart or ulcer or something... what can she do for the pain??

I just had my frist Bone scan and the office called me and said I had osteoporosis and that they called in RX for Atelvia.. I picked up the RX and was reading the information and I am concerned about the side effect of this medication. Is this the only way to help with osteoporosis? Is there anything elso another way?
