actonel and hip pain

I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.

i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?

I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.

I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

I have started mega doses of supplements and calcium and D and excercise and I want someone to tell me that that has worked for them. Most comments I get is to take the drug because it's more effective. I can't believe everyone is taking bisphosphonates or other drugs like that. Given my family history of cancer, esophogeal cancer is probably higher on the list of risks for me than a broken hip, so I will continue to take the Prevacid and not the Actonel. I hope that some information in this post will help you. Good Luck.

Thank you for the response. I think I have had about every GI test done. Who checks hormonal endocrine imbalances. Metabolic issues, etc? I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax.

One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.

It seems though that about everyone of my brothers and sisters all have some hip pain. My older brother broke his hip 40 years ago and his pain was in his knee and recently (10 years ago) had a hip replacement. My older sister also had her hip replaced. My younger sister has had hip problems too. My question, who should I see about this first? My primary doctor, seek out an ortho?

Just on my LT hip and it gets worse every week. I had a transplant in 08, but I started to notice the pain years before then. I was a helathcare worker and got stuck with an infected needle over 20 yrs ago. Now I am at the point where I need to use a cane occasionly and I am not yet 60. Any ideas out there? My hip pops when i walk and it hurts if i am laying down and try to move my legs.

Yesterday I had an x-ray to check for fracture of hip as I could put no weight on my left leg without agonising pain shooting from my hip, down the front and side of my thigh to my knee, and also into my groin. I have never felt pain like it. I also have numbness from knee to hip which is a weird sensation considering the pain. Although I was told there was no fracture I was given a walking frame and an offer of physiotherapy to be taken at home.

I went from walking w/mild left hip pain to full on pain (as soon as I started using it) and it got so bad I literally had to get my hip replaced! Been using Levo for 7+ years. Tirosint was horrible.

I am only 13weeks but on and off since 2wks my left hip has been clicking and sometimes i get lower back pain. It is not really sore but is this normal?

I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. I was over 300 lbs with lots of hip pain, thinking it all had to do with my weight...I dropped 100 lbs pain is worse. I have hip arthritis and a hip bursitis. I am 39 years young and my only option is PT and tylenol, then years from now a hip replacement that only average 15 years. My hip pops and clicks also, I have very limited range of motion in that hip, I can't walk for to long because it will make my whole leg start to hurt. Very depressing at times.

ENT docs all had me on Nexium on and off. Was told to stay on it. After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone. I was later put on Omeprazole, 40 mg 2x a day fir the past few months.

I am 19 weeks 3 days and for the past few days I have had the worst hip and back pain.everytime I walk my hips feel like they are going to pop out of socket and my back is just very sore...feels like I need to crack it. Is this normal because it hurts so bad and makes it hard to do much of anything.

My orthopedic surgeon told me the classic symptoms of a degenerated hip joint is pain in the groin. I couldn't cross my legs and the groin pain was quite constant.. As it turned out, after x-rays, I had a badly degenerated bone on bone hip joint, After a total hip replacement the pain went away. Unfortunately the trauma involved was what, in my case, apparently triggered my MS. Not all groin pains are related to the hip though.

I am 28 weeks with horrible hip pain and some discomfort in my back. I was wondering if anyone else has this and what helps. I also clean buildings for my job and a few of the buildings have a lot of stairs is this ok or should I be staying away from them?

I have pain which occurs in my lower back and hip, also down my leg and accross my thigh, this is accompanied by numbness and pins and needles in my leg and foot - i have had a facet joint injection which helped the arthritis in my lower back but not the hip or leg. I have also had an injection in the L5 nerve root which was of no help at all. The pain is worse at night and does not respond to the usual analgeisics or tramal for that matter.

I'm a 34 year old male that suddenly was stricken with buttock and excruciating hip pain. I've had X-rays of my hip and lower spine, mri of lower lumbar and CT of pelvis with contrast. Of course everything has come back showing nothing. The mri showed no bulging discs or anything like that. I'm get in so much pain now in the hips and buttocks I take hydrocodone twice a day. I'm currently in my 4th week of PT and all the stretches and exercises don't decrease the pain.

However recently, along with the leg and hip pain, the top of my backs been excruciating. Although it’s had the feeling like it needs to click for months (around the same time my hips been hurting for, so around August 2017), for the past few days it’s had a strong burning pain which hurts when I touch the area, bend or if I lie on it.

It also seemed to reduce some joint pain and swelling in my knees which I read could be a sx of a hypothyroid. Hope you're feeling better now that your 3 months post.

s which helped for a few months than pain is back again...now this morning I woke up in horrific pain in my right buttocks/hip/thigh/back the pain is so back I can barely walk... its throbbing so bad making me cry...well about 2 hours ago I noticed the tingling in the vagina area and now I have a sore...can a sore in that area make your butt/hip/back hurt that bad? or is it my back issue?? so confused and this is hell!!!

I also had issues sleeping bcuz of positions....I also have EDS and get hip and shoulder pain when I sleep on my side, so I use the method the nurses showed me when I was in the hospital post op....using a body pillow or a blanket rolled up place down the center of ur sleep area....lay on the roll/pillow and then slowly roll to one side...u will be part on ur back and part on ur side taking the pressure off ur hip.... The fusion is usually needed if the person has Ehlers-Danlos.
