actonel and broken bones

i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?

I do not suggest taking a broken Actonel. Yes, I think the manufacturer would replace it for you. They may not be able to send it directly to you so they may have to have your pharmacy give you the replacement.

I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. The question is...When bones and joints are severely deformed, and they break, can they be repaired..at least to their previous deformed state?

It is an alternative to using bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, et al) These drugs interrupt the remodeling of bones by adding a "sheath" or layer of hardening to the outside of the bones in an effort to prevent bone "loss". Bones remodel (replace) naturally every few years. One of the problems with bones is our diets are often highly acidic by processed foods.

t let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally. Are you still working as an RN? I am not able to work now and I miss it so much. Let me know you turn out regarding the forteo.

my left leg tibia and fibula both broken in an accideent about 8 and half months ago. fracture has alaready healed. in surgery external fixators were applied, wiring was done by making holes in the bone. while boring,drill machine was moved in a bigger diameter makeing a wound which was also burnt. this wound still not healed. a very little drop of pus ozzes...

Joni, I agree with Mercy-I have been taking 50,000 IU/week for about 6 months now. I too have oesteopenia (have broken 2 bones in my foot this year just from walking) and my Dr says that if my Vit D counts don't come up with this she will send me to an endocronologist to see of I have an absorption problem. I was on 2000 IU/ay for 2 months prior to the 50,000, but my count actually went down. Good luck!

She started out with Fosamax, and after awhile when side effects start from that one, and Actonel was available, they put her on Actonel and she was on Actonel all the way up until it was stopped at 79. So, I have that in my mind (her being mom and my genes and all), and decided that I want to put off bone drugs as long as I can. If I can reverse this w/o them, than I'm going to.

LOL! Sorry, I'm not laughing "at" you, but rather "with" you. I had a dog who buried half-chewed rawhide bones all over the house - in potted plants, behind curtains, even under furniture cushions.
