Avatar n tn I just got back from the Derm today and he reviewed my skin and he said that my acne redness is scarring.. Now i thought scarring is indentions in the skin? Is it not and that acne redness will fade with time because according to my derm he said that my acne redness is scarring and that the redness wont go away and that theres nothing that can be done about it. He said that i'll have to live with it for the rest of my life and that the only possible treatment for this is laser.
Avatar m tn If the acne scars are fairly new, then aloe vera applied during your nighttime facial regimen will help reduce the acne scarring redness of the spots over a few weeks. At age 21, this should be a good treatment. For quicker results (and little more expensive), salicylic acid peels and microdermabrasion treatments done by an aesthetician or a dermatologist will also help reducing scar tissue by removing the top layer(s) of skin - there's a noticeable difference after 2-3 treatments.
Avatar n tn Hello. I have been on Accutane for the last 5 months. My acne is clearing and I have no new breakouts, however I have lots of red marks where the acne was (post inflamatory hyperpigmentation possibly?)? Anyway, I was just curious if blue light or red light treatment would help, and can I use the light treatment while on Accutane? If not, what else could I do to reduce the appearance of the red marks? The acne is on my chest and is very hard to look at.
1853129 tn?1319530083 I'm starting to break out a lot of my chin and I haven't always had acne problems until now. Yes, I do admit to picking my pimples and now I'm noticing lots of scarring on my chin! I'm more on the "fair" side and my acne scars are really dark! However I was wondering if there's anything you'd recommend to take care of the scarring? I've heard of bio oil from a friend, but I'd like to know what else there is out there? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Avatar f tn A couple of months ago I woke up to fing a pock mark on my cheek. I never had acne or any infection in that spot. Recently, on the other cheek I have noticed to tiny holes (like big pores). Now, I'm a nervous wreck wondering what will show up next. I've read about a rare disease that causes idiopathic cheek scarring; but I feel like the cortisone cream is the most logical cause. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Daughter wants to get a chemical peel for some acne scarring on her facial cheeks. She has been on antibiotics (too harsh on stomach), antibiotic topical cream, retin-A, you name it over the years. We even paid out of pocket for dermabrasion treatments several years ago. She is currently on the form of the Pill as well to help with the acne. There is some scarring, but not severe. She is a young woman and frustrated and wants a solution to this situation.
Avatar n tn They have wonderful scar treatments in cosmetic clinics all over the world. Microdermabrasion and laser skin resurfacing are the two most popular for everything from fine lines to acne and other facial scars. It may sound drastic or scary, but these treatments are becoming more common and affordable each year. Do some research to find which clinics offer these treatments in your area. Look at their websites, photos and testimonies, and email the doctor that you are interested in.
Avatar n tn Okay I know this topic isn't acne, but I couldn't find any other place to go too, and I'm wondering if I'm going to get a permanent scarring from my Cold Sore. I've had Cold Sore for a very young age, and before it wouldn't scar even when I first got it I was doing everything wrong. (rubbing it, itching it till it bleed, peeling it off when it was like exploding) and even through that it didn't scar it just went away without a mark.
883279 tn?1244102594 It should be avoided on active acne but is very good for scarring, wrinkles and very dry skin areas. This is known to be good for any sun-damaged or traumatised skin. Remember to give any new skin product at least 2 weeks to show results. Consistency is the key. You will have to wait around 2 to 4 MONTHS to see the best results and from there on it should just keep getting better. A word of warning about any chemical peels, micro-dermabrasion and laser treatements.
Avatar n tn Also, what are the risks of additional scarring? I am getting the procedure done on bumps on my nose. Here is my story: I plan to undergo electrocauterization on my nose soon. I have a few bumps on my nose, roughly 1 large one, 2 medium size ones, and 3 small size ones. At first, I believed this bumps were hypertrophic acne scars. I thought this because the bumps appear exactly on the same location where I had pimples.
Avatar f tn dermalogica products to help sluff of dead skin cells and brighten the skin) I was told over several treatments, it would also help with the appearance of my scaring from old acne. The gal removed my makeup and cleansed my skin, then cleansed with a cleanser from the medbac line, the second cleanser tingled a lot but wasnt too awful. Then she put on the exfoliator (IDK what it was called but I know it had salicidic and lactic acid in it) It started burning SO SO badly.
Avatar n tn If persistant post-acne scars remain consider microdermabrasion or a chemical skin peel. I live in Bristol, United Kingdom and go to Fuss Salon in The Galleries Shopping Centre. Eloise.
2019633 tn?1373314768 Hello, This looks like scarring with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition where there is an excess amount of pigment following a disease process that affects the skin. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.
Avatar n tn They may smoothen the surface but not totally eradicate scarring.

Avatar n tn I am a fair-skinned 57 yearold woman who has been on Retinoids since I was thirty due to adult female acne. I was on Renova for a few years, then Tazarotene, but now am on generic Retin-A 0.01% for cost reasons. My other meds are for mood, allergy, hypothyrhoid, cholesterol, and hormone-replacement therapy. My skin is lovely except for enlarged pores on my nose and flakes around my nostrils. I can pull them off one at a time with tweezers, but it's very time consuming.
Avatar n tn Acne is a common condition that affects most people and some people develop severe acne that leads to permanent and sometimes disfiguring scarring. The term "scarring" refers to a process where collagen within the skin is damaged from inflammation, leading to permanent texture changes in the skin. Treatment of scarring may vary depending on the kind of scarring present. This can be assessed by a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know about the scarring after-effects of accutane? I've read several reports of scarring left after it's use. I'm sure that scars are to be expected, as with any open wound, but I don't know if these reports are by anyone with abnormalities with healing/scarring. Here is the situation... I have mild, maybe slightly moderate acne. I get keloids on other parts of my body, but thankfully not my face. I still get abnormal facial scarring though.
