acne

Avatar n tn I just got back from the Derm today and he reviewed my skin and he said that my acne redness is scarring.. Now i thought scarring is indentions in the skin? Is it not and that acne redness will fade with time because according to my derm he said that my acne redness is scarring and that the redness wont go away and that theres nothing that can be done about it. He said that i'll have to live with it for the rest of my life and that the only possible treatment for this is laser.
Avatar n tn t serious and will fade without treatment, others may lead to permanent scarring, reports MayoClinic.com. Recognize the likely causes of red bumps on your cheeks to know when you should contact your doctor. Significance Red bumps on your cheeks may signal acne, sometimes referred to as pimples or zits, and can result in scarring if left untreated. Acne also forms on the neck, chest, shoulders or back -- the areas of your body with the most oil glands.
Avatar n tn Okay I know this topic isn't acne, but I couldn't find any other place to go too, and I'm wondering if I'm going to get a permanent scarring from my Cold Sore. I've had Cold Sore for a very young age, and before it wouldn't scar even when I first got it I was doing everything wrong. (rubbing it, itching it till it bleed, peeling it off when it was like exploding) and even through that it didn't scar it just went away without a mark.
Avatar m tn It is pretty severe and I am worried about scarring. Its almost as if a lot of the acne is permanent. Should I return to accutane?? Or do you have other suggestions? Is there anything more I can do to treat my hyperhidrosis more thoroughly? Do you know if botox injections for hyperhidrosis are limited to forheads/hands/feet/armpits? Or could I receive them in other places such as my nose or back? Are there any more comprehensive solutions (ie. surgery) for hyperhidrosis?
Avatar n tn m not sure it really was a yeast infection--eczema is much more common on the penis than yeast--but neither one leaves permanent scars. Mederma is not dangerous, by the way, so you did no harm. Don't laser your penis. Just leave it alone for a few weeks, minimize friction, and apply only vaseline or some other moisturizer. See a doctor after that if the mark are still there--you may need a medicated cream. But I'd be very surprised if the marks don't fade completely.
Avatar n tn I never wanted to really speak openly about my acne but after reading Sean and your story i want to warn all future accutane users to realize this is not a 100% quick fix also to realize the side affects of Roacutane (accutane). i have had acne since i was 12 I was put on this medication when i was 14 and am now 23 still with acne yes accutane will problably make your skin look the best it ever has, if you are lucky for a long time.
Avatar n tn Hello, After reading your post, I feel that the lesion that you are having is due to scarring and pitting of the skin which is a rare side effect of electrolysis and occurs due to carelessly or rapidly done electrolysis or due to the sensitiveness of the skin to electrolysis. Unfortunately for this type of scarring or pitting, there is no medical cream as such which can treat it but surgical excision by a good plastic surgeon and laser resurfacing have given promising results.
Avatar n tn I have been getting large pimples over the last year or so. I will have one pop up every 6-8 weeks. Some of them turned into boils, maybe because of me picking at them, I'm not sure. One of them on my lower back became a boil, this was about 2 months ago. After doing some internet searching, one of the websites recommended applying warm compresses to the boils to bring them to a head. When I tried this on my boil, it caused blisters to form all over the surrounding area.
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar n tn The majority of acne scarring is superficial and will fade without intervention. If stubborn scarring remains you can have microdermabrasion 6 months after using Oral Isotretinoin. Eloise.
6884018 tn?1385765042 I am very scared that this will never go away or that there will be permanent scarring. I guess i just want to know why my skin is like this, what its called, and how i can fix it because its affecting my quality of life. I have high resolution photos of every area of my face that i can send please just ask.
Avatar n tn It is usually only prescribed for severe acne +++/++++ at risk of permanent scarring. It is usually only prescribed after the patient has tried two different oral antibiotics, and an anti-androgen contraceptive pill if the patient is female. Accutane works by shrinking the sebaceous glands responsible for producing oil (sebum). Because hairs grow from the sebaceous glands they may also be effected. In the vast majority of cases this is only a temporary effect.
Avatar f tn What does skin atrophy look like? I used a steroid cream Triamcinolone on my face months back. I used it periodically over the course of 3 to 4 months. Now my facial skin looks almost scarred. I can't quite tell if it is permanent scarring or atrophy. Can a steroid cream produce scarring? Is this reversible? How long does it usually take to reverse?
Avatar f tn ll get scarring because of the type of acne (cystic acne is apparently more prone to scarring). Is there any way to minimize the scarring? What do you ladies use to cover up? when does it go away?
1142540 tn?1261368153 I also had been taking Doryx for several months. I stopped due to stomach irritation and about 8 months after starting Doryx my hair started falling out. Like you I've now lost over half the volume of my hair over the last 3 months. I'm so afraid I'll be totally bald soon. Does anyone have any positive stories? Did anyone experience eventual re-growth? My doctors had not even made any connection to this drug and just shrug and throw up their hands!
Avatar f tn I finally decided that my acne was troublesome enough to see a dermatologist. It isn't just the acne, but mainly the resulting scars that made me decide to seek the help of a professional. I get keloids on most of my body, but not on my face. I do have abnormal/excessive scarring on my face, but I wouldn't compare it to the keloids on my body. The facial scars are generally quite flat, but brightly pigmented (the color of inflamed acne, unfortunately).
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, some causes for itchy bumps are folliculitis, fungal infection, acne or allergy. Acne usually develops due to increased sebum production. You should wash your face using a mild skin cleanser and warm (not hot) water. Skin cleansers should be slightly acidic and intended for the face (rather than the body). It needs to be differentiated from infectious folliculitis (secondary to infection) as skin is enriched with hair follicles.
Avatar f tn Yeah, try Conchar Nacar. It's a latin mask made from oyter shell. Great stuff. Use it like 2x a week. It will also help impurities on your skin. Make sure that you mix it before applying. It's a weird texture and looks like oatmeal when you put it on. But I have always used for a mask. http://www.americarx.com/BrandPages/Concha_Nacar_ProductName_ASC_25_1.
Avatar n tn Hi We can never give a guarantee that scarring will not take place here as it is part of the normal wound healing process. We can try to avoid any infections here by keeping the areas dry and clean at most times. At this point, I would suggest that you ask your physician's supervision in applying the cream as the cream may be abrasive and may involve normal skin. To avoid infection, you may apply antibacterial cream topically over the affected areas after washing with a mild cleanser.
10131613 tn?1407989226 Just a boil. I have one near my groin too. First got it after puberty sometime. I'm 30, and it's filled up again maybe, I dunno, 4 times since then. Accutane helped me greatly, but I'm left with awful facial scarring. My acne didn't get really bad until my 20s. I see my derm again this month, and I'm sure he'll put me on another course this time. Only agreed to give me the topical stuff last time. My face is awful again, and it's painful.
Avatar n tn She is currently on the form of the Pill as well to help with the acne. There is some scarring, but not severe. She is a young woman and frustrated and wants a solution to this situation. Questions: Is a chemical peel kind of severe treatment for this? What are the risks? Does it work? How much scarring does a patient have before undertaking something as costly as a peel? Is Accutane still prescribed in the US or it is not prescribed anymore? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have had the herpes simplex virus for many years and have had many cold sore/fever blister "breakouts" over the years. My most recent "breakout" became a blister on my top lip. As usually happens, I pierced the blister with a sterile needle for drainage. A very slight amount of drainage occurred. The following day, the blister was just as noticeable as before, so I attempted drainage again.
