Thanks for the advice. I am currently on 400mg of aciclovir daily. Can I up this dose or is that my max if I decide I'm brave enough to go ahead with the deed?
I have had Herpes down below for over a decade and have been on Aciclovir 400mg tablets for many years. I did have a habit of drinking Peppermint tea and found i had reduced amount of infections when in the habit of drinking it. Years later I thought to ramp this up and have Peppermint Oil tablets (200mg per day).
Went away for the weekend and on the Saturday my wee started to burn, the next day I had so much swelling and started to get blisters and it got harder and harder for me to walk. I got back on the Monday night and went to the doctors straight away on the Tuesday morning and she stupidly misdiagnosed me with a water infection.

My skin has some kind of underskin rash with pigmentation spots it is cancerous? CAN THIS KILL? I have no been on Aciclovir tablet Supressive Therapy four to five months doubling up for one week on 400mg x2 morning,evening. Can have some feedback please i can not even work i am sign of sick with depression.
Thanks Teak, one more question, inside those 9,5 weeks I've taken some 400mg Aciclovir pills (for Herpes HSV2) could these influence the Hiv test or delay the production of Hiv antibodies since it is basicly an anti viral medicine?

On three months I had about six outbreaks so the doctor prescribed me with a course of aciclovir and told me that this should stop it for six months. However two months in to taking aciclovir I have had a outbreak! Is this normal? When with the reacurances slow down? How can I have a normal sex life? Shall I keep taking the suppressive a tablets?
thanks grace, but i am difinitely sure it is aciclovir and the dose is 400mg i had an episode where i had the blisters and went to the sexual health clnic, the doctor swad the blisters n from that they made their diagnosis. i can also remember vaguely that a blood test was done several years before this.
Hi. My long term partner gave me genital herpes 6 months ago, he only had mild symptoms (a swollen gland for a few days, no blisters) so he wasn't aware he had it. My symptoms started a week or 2 after this and I have been tested and it has been confirmed to be hsv1. Since then I have lost count of how many breakouts I've had, it has to be about 15-20 now. It's only ever gone for a week at the most then it's straight back for a week or 2.
They gave me three months worth of aciclovir 400mg and told me that as soon As I notice a blister to take three tablets every day for five days. I was told that eventually the tablets will scare it from coming back. I get at least two outbreaks a month. And it's only been four months. I'm meant to be going on holiday soon and am petrified this is going to ruin my holiday.

he was prescribed aciclovir and valaciclovir both at 200mg every 8 hours for 30 days. From what I have read so far it seems that it is usually one or the other not both. He was able to obtain the aciclovir but not able to find valaciclovir anywhere in Cuba at this time...should the one be enough for the first outbreak...and perhaps controlling any future outbreaks should he use the valaciclovir??

hi, i think i'm not alone in this case. I know a lot of people have either HSV1 or HSV2 or both...this is my first time to experience herpes symptom (cold sores). Honestly I dont know if I should take the medication (aciclovir). i've read somewhere that we do not really need to do anything if we get the sores. Some people claim it will disappear on its own within few days. Is it true? so what's the point of people buying aciclovir if it disappear on its own?
I've been given a 5 day course of 800mg x 4 of Aciclovir as a treatment for shingles
About a day into my treatment I started to get chills/feel weak (slight fever)
the next, though I was on the mend, but last night - i had SEVERE chills. Literally i was shaking like anything
Could this at all be related to Aciclovir, or did I just coincidentally get another virus at the same time --- the side effects sheet doesn't really mention this.
